Did he wear a fedora to the interview?

That's depressing. His head coaching experience amounts to taking over a stable, winning program in Conference USA from a guy who had been wining there for 17 years and managed to not f*** it up for 3 years.

Ed, there are some jokes so bad, even I won't post them.

According to Phil Miller there was no truth to the Fedora rumors. In fact he held a press conference at noon yesterday in his own office while he was supposedly here interviewing.

Also sounds like all the late night heat on the Mullen rumor yesterday may have been using us for leverage to get a better deal.

Since they were wrong on the Fedora interview, I don't know if there is any teeth to this one

A few weeks ago, we told you that Minnesota AD Joel Maturi had interest in Omaha Nighthawks head coach Jeff Jagodzinski. We had heard that Jags was on Maturi's initial list on candidates. Now, from what we understand, Maturi has indeed recently interviewed the former Boston College head coach.

According to the Pioneer Press the San Diego AD is pissed off because Maturi interviewed Hoke without first getting permission.

Again, the Mullen thing has never made any sense to me at all. Why would he possibly leave Mississippi State, a team in a better situation than Minnesota, and in a far better conference, for the Gophers?

I never have gotten that one. No way in hell he'd make that move.

But tons of more pressure on coaches in that conference

Sure. But I just think Mullen can do much better than the Gophers.

Miami, for instance, would be a much better job than MN right now.

I just think it's a dream scenario to even be thinking about Mullen for the job. I'd love to have him with the Gophers; I just don't see it as likely, at all.

And seeing a guy fired with a 7-5 is a good situation?

I'm saying, all things considered, no major college coach is going to look at the U of Minnesota job as a better situation than the U of Miami job.

What?

Seriously?

I do think he'd be a good fit. Really, he and Tubby Smith are very comparable in a lot of ways.

Relax Scott. Matt is our source here. Fulmer already said he wasn't interested.

Because it's an even worse situation than MN and maybe the toughest job in the country if you want to win games.

Is that the objective. I have been watching the Gophers for so long I thought it was about getting put on probation while achieving as little as possible.

Too funny.
I read that "if you want to win games" and thought the same thing, Tim.
Do we here? I'm really not sure at this point.....

I wanted Leach a month ago, but now I really want him. Why do I get the feeling we're going to hire the guy from UMD or something?

Horton actually got interviewed yesterday. Maturi should be fired for even going down that road.

Leach also is touting himself for the U/Miami job.

Must be bored with his radio talk show.
