But Stanton's your young, developed guy.  I don't see Culpepper as a longterm answer, personally.  So you may as well see if you have an longterm answer on the roster.

The Boston Globe reports the NFL has fined New England Patriots WR Randy Moss $20,000 for comments he made regarding the officiating following the Patriots' 18-15 loss to the Colts last Sunday night. Moss wasn't talking after yesterday's win over the Bills, but chances are he's not too happy, considering his comments were fairly innocuous. In fact, Moss started his comments last week by saying, "This is one of those funny games where you really got to watch what you say because fines will be out on Wednesday, so I'll leave it at that." But he didn't leave it at that, answering another question with a response that included saying there were some "real iffy calls out there." "I think a lot of guys are really down just for the fact that you let a game like this slip," said Moss. "Like I said earlier, when things happen you got to watch what you say. Guys don't want to get fined. There were some real iffy calls out there, and it's just some of the things that you wished wouldn't have happened. Good calls and bad calls are part of the game, so you got to live and die with them." NFL spokesman Greg Aiello confirmed it was the "iffy calls" characterization that drew the league's attention - and apparently ire.

How is Stanton a "never was" at this point?  He's never even gotten a chance yet, and he's a 2nd rd pick with talent. 

He was hurt for almost the entire season one of his 2 previous years in the league as well.  I think Bill Cowher is exactly right to keep harping on this one; START STANTON!

Although Scott, you're right; I welcome Daunte against us.

I think only the Lions could take a guy right off the street and start him. I don't care how untested the young kid is, he has actually been in camp and read the playbook.

You normally sign a guy and take a week to get him up to speed. They are setting Daunte up to fail, but it's the Lions so it's not suprising.

Daunte should have sat for a month to learn the system and players.  What he did, even as mediocre as it was, was amazing considering not only was it his first week with the pu**ies, it was his first week PERIOD this year in football.
