Painful watching Cassel QB.

Big drive of the game, doesn't even look at Moss, but throws ball right to Jets DB

He sucks

Almost 500 total yards and 3 TD's.  Yeah, he sucks.

As a fantasy owner of Randy Moss, I can tell you that Matt Cassel is no Tom Brady.

Yup, he was painful to watch.  No out ball and no deep ball.

But you probably thought Brad Johnson did a good job here in 2005.

There is a reason why the Pats are on the outside looking in at the playoffs.

Matt NOODLE ARM II Cassel.

Seriously, the guy can't throw a bomb or, more importantly, a deep out to save his life.  He will not consistently beat good teams with those flaws.

He's a young QB who is getting better each week.  Not sure what else you could expect from him.

No, he doesn't have the tools to be a starter in this league.  Did you watch the game last night?

Did you see the deep balls to Moss?  Did you see the out patterns to the right side that were 5 yards off target?

Seriously, if this guy was playing on the Vikings he would be Tarvaris Jackson.

He is no better than Jackson, he just has Pro Bowlers surrounding him on offense and a Super Bowl winning coach.

I agree with you, JC.   I have this fear that the Vikes will make a play for Cassell this offseason because they see some potential.   IMO, the high quality of coaches around him as well as their talent on the field disguise many of his weaknesses and makes him look much better than he really is.

I wish we had that problem.

You guys are tough, damn.  Everyone wants a Tom Brady, it's almost laughable (to steal a term).

NFL: Vikings should have been penalized when Adrian Peterson took off helmet after late TD
NFL: Peterson should have been flaggedBy Sean Jensen

Minnesota Vikings' Adrian Peterson, left, Gus Frerotte, center and Naufahu Tahi, right, celebrate Peterson's fourth-quarter touchdown against the Green Bay Packers in an NFL football game Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008, in Minneapolis. Peterson ran for 192 yards and one touchdown as the Vikings beat the Packers 28-27. (AP)

The Vikings apparently got away with one.
Running back Adrian Peterson should have been penalized for taking off his helmet after his fourth-quarter touchdown Sunday against the Green Bay Packers, NFL vice president of officiating Mike Pereira said Wednesday.

Blah Blah,in the middle and this at the end..............League could still fine AD 10k as an unsportmanlike first offender.

"I was just caught up in the moment. I wasn't trying to celebrate."
Vikings coach Brad Childress said he talked to Peterson about taking off his helmet. Childress also said he talked to Pereira about the issue on Tuesday.
Childress said Peterson was not trying to be "ostentatious."

I would like to once again, thank Emmitt Smith and Brett Farve for the need for this dumb ass rule, that could be interpreted this way after the fact. Thank goodness the refs understood, the flow of the game and left this alone.

That just proves the point.  No way would Cassell be smart enough to try and cover up AD's head like Gus is doing.  Thus, preventing the ref from seeing he didn't have his helmet.  Brilliant move that only a wily vet like Gus would think of.  I'd like to see Mr Cassell make in game adjustments like that.  Nice camera footage to prove the point TC.

There goes Mr. Strawman again.

We would be fine with a decent QB who can make most of the throws required in the NFL.

Cassel is a joke.

If you can not consistently complete a 20 yard out pattern with velocity you will not last long in the NFL.

You don't need Brady or Peyton but Eli sure would be nice.

I wouldn't term it as a "problem" but you're right I wish we had a quality coaching staff that knew how to put a player in a position to produce above his talent level. As JC has pointed out, Cassell has some glaring weaknesses including deeper throws, but you put him in there with a good coaching staff and top talent around him and he can be effective.  On the flip side, if you were to put him on the current Vikings' squad our coaching staff would have him throwing a deep ball to Tahi instead of the quick out to Welker for the big run-after-catch he's throwing now.

That's pure speculation.  He appears to be the most accurate passer in the NFL to me.

Beyond the deep throws, if you can't throw the sideline out in the NFL you have cut down the responsibility of the defense by 1/3.  For evidence, look at the playoff game that Pennington last played - and he is far more accurate than Cassel.

Cassel = Chad Pennington - accuracy

or

Tarvaris Jackson + good coaching

This pretty much sums up the story of the the 2008 Viking's offense so far - AP carrying Gus (while Tahi doesn't belong in the picture).

True

I was thinking more along the lines of neither can hit the broad side of a barn over 20 yards and both can hurt defenses running the ball.

Chad is running like those two.

Just heard that the white skull cap cost Peterson $5000. Black is the only acceptable color skull caps allowed. Unbelievable

Jim Fassel has stepped up his campaign to become an NFL head coach again in the most interesting of ways.
A team source tells ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen that Fassel recently sent a handwritten letter to Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis, expressing his respect and admiration for Davis and his desire to coach the embattled franchise.

Fassel last worked in the league as offensive coordinator of the Baltimore Ravens from 2003 until his dismissal midway through the 2006 season. He was head coach of the New York Giants from 1997 until the team fired him after the 2003 season.
Fassel was 60-56-1 in seven seasons with the Giants and led the club to a Super Bowl XXXV appearance against Baltimore. He had two interviews with the Washington Redskins last offseason before owner Daniel Snyder ultimately decided to hire Jim Zorn as his coach.
Lane Kiffin was fired by Davis on Sept. 30 after Oakland starter 1-3, with the job going to offensive line coach Tom Cable on an interim basis. The Raiders are 1-4 under Cable. Kiffin, meanwhile, has filed a grievance against Davis in an attempt to collect the remaining money on his contract.
The upheaval within the coaching staff has yet to abate. Davis, it turns out, stripped offensive coordinator Gregg Knapp of play-calling duties, a source told Mortensen. Cable said last week that he relieved Knapp of his duties before a Week 10 loss to the Carolina Panthers and would remain in that role for the rest of the season.

I suspect that Ray Edwards is going to be getting a bill from the NFL this week.

The NFL needs to stop with the fines except in extreme cases (fights, punch thrown,...).

Titans go to 10-0.
Quietest 10-0 in NFL history.
Can't believe they aren't getting more pub.
I thought Jax would take them today.
I'm not sure anyone left on their schedule can.

No one believes in that team still

Wouldn't it be funny if they, not the Pats, went 19-0?
