Makes me laugh on an otherwise sucky and cold Monday.

I do have to admit I think I let Childress live in my head rent free during the games. I should be happier that we are in first place. Not how we are in first place. I have to stop worrying about him him playing not to lose. It worked yesterday. His goal is always to shorten the game once we have the lead....If I could remember that while watching it would maybe make it more enjoyable...Under Childress, I just always feel like we were lucky when we win and stupid when we lose. Hopefully we win 5 more in a row, deserve to be in the playoffs, while better divisions beat themselves up. Maybe we can still grab the 2 seed with a winning streak. Maybe Childress will be the genius I think he is not.......

They added FIVE other ProBowlers this offseason.  No way.  If anyone should be MVP from that team it should be Kris Jenkins or Alan Faneca.  THAT is the reason for their turnaround.

WRONG.  Favre is the MAIN reason for the turnaround.

Other teams have added a few Pro Browlers to their lineups, but they are NOT having the kind of success the Jets are having.  I have seen teams in past seasons add a couple of Pro Bowlers to thier lineup, only to finish 6-10. I don't know what more Favre could do to convince you he isn't deserving of a 4th MVP.

The Packers were 13-3 last year with Favre, and this year with essentially the SAME players, they are 5-6.  The Jets were 3-13 and losing many games by a wide margin last year.  This year they are 8-3, and just went ON THE ROAD to knock of NE (who WAS leading the division), AND what WAS the team with the NFLs' best record, an undefeated team, the Titans, AT Tennessee !

Favre HAS come through in the clutch, and is a GREAT regular season QB.  I wouldn't bet on him in the playoffs, but the MVP award is based on the REGULAR SEASON, and for that, I think Favre should be the MVP of the league.  I think it could be argued that with Kellen Clemens, the Jets could easily be 4-7, maybe even 3-8, and I think they WOULD be!

No way.

Clemens is just as good as Favre.  Favre leads the league in INT's!

I don't think there's any team in the league that added 6 probowlers, like the Jets did.  And Jenkins and Faneca have been unreal.  The OL has really come together, and that's a big reason for the turnaround.

Favre shouldn't be in the top 10 for MVP IMO.

Clemens could just as well have led the league in INTs, and maybe SACKS also.  He might also have NOT performed in the clutch (quite likely), and had the team at 3-8 right now, instead of 8-3.

Part of the reason for the Jets OL playing much better is Favre has a quick release, quick decision making, and that is also a reason why GBs' OL is said to have regressed, Rogers isn't as quick at Favre at making decisions and he takes more sacks.

Leon Washington and Thomas WERE on the Jets last year when they went 4-12, along Coles and Cotchery.  They are the stars, along with Dustin Keller, a draft pick that Favre has made into a star.  Pace and Jenkins HAVE helped the defense, but it is still a poor 2ndary that would have lost at NE had Favre not been so terrific at the end of regulation and in overtime.

Favre is the big difference in NY this year, and should be considered for MVP.  More than managing a game, Favre WINS a game:

Joey Porter Says Patriots Cheated Him Out of Championships
Mon Nov 24, 2008

The Providence Journal reports Miami Dolphins OLB Joey Porter yesterday shed some light into his many unflattering recent comments about the Patriots, saying he has "hate" for the Pats because he feels they "cheated" him out of two AFC championships while he was playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Porter was referring to the Spygate controversy, in which the Pats were penalized for illegally taping their opponents' defensive signals from 2000-2006. The Pats beat the Steelers in the 2001 and 2004 AFC Championship Games. Porter played for the Steelers in both those games. "That's my dynasty. You know what I mean?" Porter told former NFL WR Keyshawn Johnson on ESPN's Sunday NFL Countdown show, which aired yesterday morning. "I could be sitting up here with three rings," added Porter, referring to the fact that Pittsburgh won the Super Bowl in 2005. "Who they got on that team beside QB Tom Brady?" Porter said. "It's not like they've got a gang of [great players] over there... They have a bunch of all-right guys. You know what I mean?"

I maintain that Favre is a great REGULAR season QB who COULD take his team to the SB as long as the supporting cast is strong enough.  If not, he probably gives you a great regular season, but his INTs cost you in the playoffs.

One of the biggest reasons for the Jets turnaround is the increased pressure of their defense (ie sacks), which starts at the line.  Jenkins is their TEAM MVP IMO.

I maintain Favre is not in the top 10.

OK, Reasons for the Jets turnaround.

1.  Favre has brought stability to the most important postition on the field.  Something the Jets have NOT had for years.
2.  Free agency added a lot to this team.  Jenkins and Faneca have been HUGE.
3.  Tom Brady got hurt.  I know...this only accounts for one win...but still.
4.  Law of averages...the ball has been bouncing their way a little more...instead of bouncing the other way as it did for a couple of years.

Jets could and should make the playoffs.  And there are a lot of reasons for the turnaround.  Not the least of which has been Favre.

Yeah, well, I'm not the biggest Favre fan, but this is the same Jets team that sucked last year.

Their offense sucked balls last year. I mean, it was pathetic, bottom dwelling offense of truly sucky proportions. Thomas Jones was the RB, Leon Washington the return/3rd down guy, and Laverneous Coles and Jericho Cotchery the leading recievers.

This year they're one of the best offenses in the league, 2nd in points ever. Thomas Jones is the running back, Leon Washington the return/3rd down guy, and Laverneous Coles and Jericho Cotchery the leading receivers.

Favre has made a huge difference to that team, they've got the 3rd best record in the league. People should probably give him his due, a lot of people thought they wouldn't even make the playoffs. It is painfully obvious that Favre has helped them a ton.

What a dork

Actually Joey it is 2 rings because the refs gave you the 2005 playoffs and 2006 Super Bowl Against Seattle to make up for something......If you would have beat the Patriots, you guys would not have gotten that 3rd one, which has caused me to not watch football as much as I used to.

Not to go Marty sway on the bit, but.....I know my son who was 15 at the time of that Super Bowl has not watched a whole game on tv of NFL football since. In fact he watched no games at all in 2006. He really didn't care who won, he just decided it was predetermined and has never really come back to being a fan. He wants the Vikings to win, but he doesn't get upset if he misses the game. He has only watched one game start finish since then and that is the Houston game I took him to this year. Part of this is his age and the fact he has many interests, but I think he is not impressed with pro sports.

They are ruining the game for those that understand the game.

I think Farve deserves consideration for MVP, I really wish the Saint's Defense was better so Drew Brees could get his due. Warner is spectacular this year. I really think the MVP of the league is Albert Haynesworth as that team can do nothing against the run, when he is not in there. His injury is the main reason the Titans lost to the Jets.'

Also when Peterson goes over 2000 yards to cap off our 6 game winning streak to lock down the number 2 seed, he will be getting all the honors. MVP AD  MVP AD!

Favre's definitely a part, but I think you discount Alan Faneca and Ferguson gaining experience.  Those 2 things are HUGE for the offense.  Jenkins is still the MVP of that team IMO, though.  I think Collinsworth is dead-on in that assessment.
