Romo is a much bigger problem than Owens.  First off, he underperforms more.

More importantly, Romo still has very bad mechanics and chokes in the clutch - two huge problems for a franchise QB.

Romo's early success hurt him because he started thinking he could make those sandlot plays on a regular basis and when you play against good defenses and you do that you turn the ball over.

Romo is by far the bigger problem for Dallas.

I am not disagreeing with you.  Romo is a big part of the problem.

I am just saying that so is TO.  TO putting more pressure on Romo to throw him the ball isn't helping Romo out at all.

What Romo really needs is no more TO, and a backup that is pushing him for the starting job.  That will either make him try to be better or lose his job to a better QB.

Quite frankly...I hate the Cowboys almost as much as I hate the Patriots.  So to me, if they want to keep Romo and TO and keep substandard backups like Brad Johnson around...and substandard coaches like Wade Phillips...that will be fine with me.  Keep the team sucking Jerry!

Romo needs a new coaching staff, particularly a new QBs coach and OC.  He needs a Mike Holmgren type to reel in his Brett Favre tendencies.

He is not a very good QB.  He has put up big numbers because he has had incredible talent around him.

It is looking more and more like Tom Brady may not ever be the same player again.

What a shame.

Yeah.  Brett Favre did a GREAT job there!

Mangini out.  Like it's his fault that the upper management went out of their way to get Favre.  and dump Pennington.  Favre played like dung the last 5 weeks or so.  chucking INTs and not chucking TDs at a 2-1 ratio.  Gotta love the owner on this one.  Blame the coach for the QBs crappy play!

I think it is a little too early to tell on that one.

Brady's strengths were his brain and even keeled demeanor on the feild.  He didn't get flustered in the pocket...he's never been known for his legs.  So it might take him a little longer to recover than expected.  I don't think this means his career is over.  He'll be back.  And because his game didn't depend so much on his legs (like Culpepper's did), he will be just as good as the Pre-Moss Brady.  Which was good enough to win 3 Superbowls.

I completely disagree

The issue is not him running the ball downfield.  The problem is he won't have the quickness needed to avoid sacks like he used to do.

In addition, not having a stable foundation affects your throws.

Carson Palmer has not been same player after his knee injury either.

Brady may come back, but I would bet the ranch against him ever being as good as he was.

Bill Parcells Could Become a Free Agent
Sun Dec 28, 2008

Bill Parcells' status hinges on whether Miami Dolphins owner Wayne Huizenga's sale of his majority ownership of the team goes through, sources told ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen. When Parcells joined the Dolphins as executive vice president of football operations last year, his deal included a onetime out clause that would allow him to walk away, with the rest of his $12 million guaranteed contract fully paid, no strings attached, if Huizenga were to sell the team. Earlier this year, Huizenga agreed to sell 95 percent of the Dolphins to New York developer and team part-owner Stephen Ross. Huizenga hopes to close on the deal by early January to ensure that the capital gains taxes on the sale remain at 15 percent before President-elect Barack Obama takes the oath of office Jan. 20, Mortensen reported. Parcells' contract specifically states only Huizenga can be in authority over him. Once Ross officially becomes majority owner, Parcells has to notify Ross within 30 days that he intends to exercise his walk-away clause and collect the full balance of $9 million, Mortensen reported. At that time, Parcells would be a free agent. And any team that wants his services would not owe compensation to the Dolphins, according to the report. Among the teams sources say are on Parcells' radar are the New York Jets, Detroit Lions, Cleveland Browns and the Oakland Raiders. However, if Parcells' son-in-law, New England Patriots vice president Scott Pioli, is interested in any of those jobs, Parcells is unlikely to wind up with that team, Mortensen reported.

Romo Collapses in Shower
Mon Dec 29, 2008

The Star-Telegram reports Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo apparently suffered a rib injury during the Cowboys' 44-6 loss to Philadelphia. Following the game, Romo collapsed in the shower and had to be helped to his feet by teammates. Romo had X-rays after being attended to by the team's athletic trainers. When he fell, teammates rushed to his aid and one player called for paramedics. Emergency help rushed into the locker room with a stretcher, which wasn't needed. Romo was helped to his feet, and appeared to have trouble breathing from the injury. Romo spoke at his postgame news conference, but had trouble moving. He also had to be helped off a short stage where he addressed the media. Romo was sacked three times and hit many other times. QB Brooks Bollinger replaced him in the fourth quarter.

Set aside the one amazing season he had once they Pats acquired Moss and Welker...and you will have the same Brady that won 3 Superbowls.  I agree their will be diminished returns.  But I don't think they will be as bad as you predict.

But his is all JMO.

This would just be retarded on the Dolphins part.  No I shouldn't say that...it would be an insult to retards.
Why in God's name would you ever let ANYONE leave that helped turn a 1-15 team into a division winning 11-5 team?  That turnaround is amazing.  Parcells hired the new Coach...and went out and got his QB.  And the team played with attitude again...something it hadn't done in years.  Only the greatest of Morons would let Parcells out of the barnyard.  That's a prize bull right there stupid.

If he goes.  Watch the Chiefs and Lions fight over him.

If Brady misses 2009 I believe his Pro Bowl days are over.

As for Parcels, no way does he go to either of those dregs.  I think the new owner pays him a ton to stay.  If not, then the Jets would be first choice unless Al Davis agrees to completely step away and give Bill all power.

Jets would love to get him...
There is NO WAY that Al Davis will give control to anyone but Al Davis...and the Raiders will suck until he does...which will probably be when he dies.

I think if Parcells walks, both the Chiefs and Lions will make a big play for him...however...they wont wait until the middle of February to do so...if Parcells drags his feet...they wont remain options.  Lions really need to hire a guy NOW.  Fire Marinelli (good guy or not, you don't get to keep your job after going 0-16 IMHO).  I would highly suggest trading Calvin Johnson too, cause you aren't going to keep him long after his current contract expires.  Time for a Jaren Allen like trade for Calvin.  Time for a total rebuild.

Interesting that we just read that article that Favre didn't like playing for Mangini because he occasionally called him out in meetings and because Mangini treated him like the rest of the players.

Now Mangini is gone.

Hmmmm.

Word is Bill Cowher will be the new JETS guy

Again, Parcels would never, ever go to low-profile franchises like Detroit or KC

Bank on it

Yet the media, and even some people here blather on about what a great team guy he is.

I heard two seasons ago from a person who would know, that Favre was NOT a locker room favorite among his own teammates.

I have said for two years

Terrell Owens is NOT the problem on that team.

The problem is overrated Romo.  He is Choking Dog II

Romo is a big part of the problem...but so is TO.  They are both part of the problem.  The solution is to dump TO, find a good backup to push Romo, fire Phillips and hire Garrett...and start over now.

That being said...I am very happy that "America's team" is once again not in the playoffs.  Them and the Patriots out makes me very happy.

I think hiring Garrett would be a huge mistake. He's not good.

He had a lot of talent, but he really misused it. He completely abandoned the run regularly, and even Romo was talking about how defenses have caught up to everything they do.

It's the man-love by the media that always pissed me off about the guy.  Moss is a shit for leaving the field with 2 seconds left...Favre's done it many times and they say nothing.  Favre throws a pick, the media makes excuses.  Favre makes an illegal throw beyond the line of scrimmage and it isn't a stupid play in the playoffs...it's just Brett having fun.  It sickened me.  I really hope he retires now and STAYS retired, just so I don't have to hear all the manlove BS.  He is not superman, he is not the best QB to ever play the game.  He is not the great team guy you claim him to be...He's an aging primadonna who used to be a good QB...

It is clear now that Payton was the offensive genius there and once they used up his plays they went down.

Garrett has done nothing to warrant a promotion.  Romo has moved backwards under his watch this year.

Personally, I think it is more likely that Favre comes to the Vikings (which I don't think is terribly likely now).

Favre has played his last game for the Packers.
