How did Mr. Clutch, Brett Favre do today in a must win game against a sorry team?  0 TD's and 2 Interceptions.
Start the re-re-re-retirement talk.

Brett started them himself last week.

I just don't think anyone knew he was actually retiring after last Sunday's game....

Todays' Jets game just proved my point on Favre being 60% the reason for the Jets improvement this year from 4 wins to 9 (or 10).

You can't tell me he is less than 50%.  In that case, how did those other 12 Pro Bowlers that the Jets added do today ?  Since it's just a machine which Favre just plays a small role, then those other 12 Pro Bowlers should have picked up the slack, and carried them to victory over the motivated Holmgren's last game at Seattle, weak Seattle team.

Next week will say A LOT about whether Favre can take the Jets team with a very weak 2ndary and get them into the playoffs, despite playing against the former Jet QB who thought he was unfairly let go.  Will Favre be motivated enough, and have anything left in the tank to overcome the fiery Pennington ?

Favre isn't taking them anywhere.  Face it  marty, he sucks.

Even if they manage a win, something they couldn't do against the Seahags, the Pats will win the division and Fvre can retire for good.

Like I said, JeMarcus Russell will be a good QB once the Raiders get a coach

As long as Al Davis is the owner/GM...they wont have a good coach long enough to realize he's a good coach.  What are they on now?  Their 10th coach in the last 8 years?  They should never have let Gruden leave.

He choked it up, or more likely Holmgren has his number.

I hope he does retire, I don't want to hear any "to the Vikings" rumblings. When he calls up Chilly to chat this time, I hope they lose connection.

I'd like to see one of the playoff teams intercept, (pick six), his sorry butt at least once more, sack him about five times and force him to realise he F'ed up and shoulda retired for good in march....

Then I'd like to run him over with a truck, for good measure...

I'm NOT a Favre fan, and would NOT mind the same thing.

Holmgren has been HORRIBLE against Favre since he has been at Seattle.  Maybe it's just a GB thing, but I think GB has won almost every game against Seattle (except 1), many of the blowouts in GBs' favor.

I think Seattle was motivated to play a good game for Holmgren's last home game, and for their fans, they have good fans.

Yep, I think we can officially put the "Favre as an MVP" crap to bed now.

Not quite

He may actually be MVP for Miami.

Without the ETS trading for him Pennington is never released!

Homgren with Seattle and Brett with the Pack played 4 regular season games. They are tied at 2 wins apiece.

Brett Favre has 4 TDs and 9 picks against them. He plays like crap against Mike Holmgren who has his number and beat him again.

Screw the Broncos/Chargers game, I wanna see Cutler and Rivers throw down at mid-field.
Those two truly have a hate thing going on.
I see Cutlers point.

I'm buying the Mike Smith hype.
Love what he's done with the Falcons.
That was the worst franchise in the NFL (situation-wise) a year ago.
Brought a common-sense approach and work ethic.
Picked his young QB early and stuck with him. Good story.
They had a great gameplan Sunday.

They've exceeded everyone's expectations.

But they will be done quickly in the playoffs.

What about the playoffs ?  Haven't the Packers won the last 2 or 3 against them in the playoffs ?

I could care less if the Lions beat the Packers...it has no bearing on the Vikings playoff chances.

I would rather see them get to 0-16.

I hate the Packers and would love for them to live with the distinction as the only team to lose to them.

If you watched any of the Pats/Cards game last Sunday, you may have seen Wes Welker catch a TD, and spontaneously drop to the ground and make a snow angel. Didn't hurt a fly. Couldn't have bothered anyone. Wasn't meant to be any kind of a statement.
I about popped a vein when the flag came flying in from the nearest Nazi (also known as an NFL Official).
It got worse today when they announced he was fined $10Gs for the dastardly deed.
What an unbelievable crock of crap. Why don't you focus on real problems, Roger. The snow-angel won't set off any riots anytime soon. I promise.
And yes, I'd think it was a pretty cool celebration, no matter who did it.

And yet the RB for Tenn pulls out a towel from his pants to use in his celebration. Players are not allowed to use props

I agree that the fine for the snow angel was absurd and ridiculous. And as we've seen, they are totally inconsistent when they fine players. They need a better committee.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Mike Singletary has been a remarkable short-term solution to the San Francisco 49ers' woes. With each passing week, the interim coach is looking more like the long-term fix, as well.

The Sacramento Bee is reporting that, according to a source close to the situation, the 49ers are planning to offer a multiyear contract to Singletary shortly after the team ends its season with Sunday's game against the Washington Redskins.
NFL teams cannot sign interim coaches during the season under the league's Rooney Rule, which requires teams to interview at least one minority candidate, but the 49ers do not have to bring in more candidates if they are planning to take the interim tag off Singletary.
On Wednesday, Singletary acknowledged he had met with the team's top officials about his future earlier in the week. According to the Bee, Singletary laid out a plan for the 49ers that wowed the club's leadership.
"I will just say this: I don't interpret anything as … really good or really bad," said Singletary, whose club has won four of its past six games. "I think the most important thing is that I just continue to stay focused. After it's all said and done, we can look back at how positive things are, and our direction or whatever, and we can fully pay attention to it."

TAMPA, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers didn't look far for a replacement for Monte Kiffin. Secondary coach Raheem Morris will take over as defensive coordinator in 2009, ensuring continuity next season with Kiffin leaving the NFL to join his son, Lane, at the University of Tennessee.
If the Bucs (9-6) don't make the playoffs, Sunday will be the 68-year-old Kiffin's last game in Tampa Bay.
"He's been with me a long time and he's had a lot of success here. He's had his hand in a lot of real good things," coach Jon Gruden said, adding he wanted to end speculation about Kiffin's successor and whether the Bucs will continue to run the Tampa 2 scheme.
"I like this defense. I believe in it, and certainly believe in Raheem Morris. I believe he'll be outstanding."
Morris is in his sixth season as a Bucs assistant, second as defensive backs coach. He initially joined Gruden's staff as a defensive quality assistant in 2002, was a defensive assistant in 2003 and assistant defensive backs coach for the next two seasons before spending one year as defensive coordinator at Kansas State.
The Bucs ranked in the top five in total defense each of Morris' first five seasons in Tampa Bay, including No. 1 in 2002, when Tampa Bay won the Super Bowl. They're ranked ninth heading into Sunday's regular-season finale.
