And again; this was NOT an isolated incident. He had a history of this kind of behavior in college. This is just the only incident that got out to the public. A lot of times NOTHING gets out to the public with these guys.

Like I said, I have a very close friend that was a cheerleader at UT and absolutely cannot stand him because of his history there. I'll take her word for it over the "cover up" media.

But most people don't have access to that type of information. As far as 99% of the world knows, he's had 1 transgression.

Her word on verified accounts, including friends of hers. And this is one of my very best friends.

And ya, David, that's exactly right. The general public is just so in the dark on this stuff with athletes, it's really amazing.

Basically all but raped a couple of girls, including intimidating girls and their families with his family. Total prick to everyone, etc.

It's absolutely worse.

Sexual assault is a horrible thing - one of the worst things you can do.

But to compare what Manning did to shooting multiple people and putting others at risk of stray bullets isn't close IMO.

Manning MAY have permanently traumatized a woman, and that's inexcusable. Harrison, without a little luck, could've killed multiple people.

I don't think it matters which is worse at this point.

They're both really bad. And both done by bad people. That's the point of this IMO. Athletes get away with WAY too much.

We're kind of between a rock and a hard place with issues like this. On the one hand we can assume a person is essentially good because we haven't heard anything to the contrary ... or we can believe rumors from a third or fourth party which may or may not be true. If they're true, then it is information we can use to form an opinion. If they're not true, or have been embellished by someone with a grudge, then we are spreading misinformation that besmirches a person's good name.

And don't think that both of those things, and everything in between, haven't happened in the past. My preference is to wait for solid information before assuming the worst about someone. Your sources MAY be accurate Dustin, but until there is some proof I don't want to take part in spreading gossip.

I understand that Lynn, and you can believe what you want. But I'm TELLING you that I firmly, firmly trust this source, and Peyton is a total dirtbag, like the vast majority of pro athletes.

I really think people, like on the steroids issue, are extremely naive if they believe that even 25 % of these guys are "good" guys.

Not sure where you guys are discussing the Gruden-firing, but thats the one move so far that has been shocking to me.

Cannot see him staying unemployed more than a day or two.
He's fantastic, imo.
Approximately 736 times better than our current coach. Approximately.

Most posters felt he was overrated.

He won one Super Bowl with Dungy's players and has been a .500 coach since who hasn't won a playoff game.

This poster likes him. A lot.
I hope he lands on his feet and gets back to the top.
You can see him learning a little every year.
He started extremely young.
And he is pretty polarizing. Most either think he's the bomb or a bomb.

I personally dislike him because he canned Randall for Rodney Peete in Philly.

But I know many people think he is a sharp offensive mind.

Then again, his QB situation in TB hasn't been too much better than our's.

Word is leaking that he used the tactics of screaming at and belittling his players to get results. I know that coaches can't be all big buddy, comfy cozy with their players, but I have trouble respecting a guy who uses such demeaning tactics.

Well then, the firing will probably do him some good (if thats true).
I'm betting he learns from his mistakes and comes back better.
He shows fire and passion for the game, and expects effort.

I am with you Scott. I always thought Chucky was a pretty good coach, he won with Dungy's players against his own. Not easy. I think he is the only one that could have beaten that Raider team.

But Like Lynn said, he is a mind gamer with players and when he is done with them, he is a little like Denny, when it comes to letting them go. Meaning if a janitor is handy he gets to deliver the news.

Pretty disappointing stuff.

Anquan Boldin even less valuable than previously thought

Not content to just have a screaming match with the offensive coordinator on the sidelines (which landed him on our list of five least valuable people of Championship Sunday), Anquan Boldin carried his hissy-fit to the Arizona Cardinals postgame celebration, too.
While most of the other Cardinals were still on the field being showered in confetti and picking up their NFC Championship trophy, Boldin had already bolted out of the locker room. The behavior prompted CBS's Mike Freeman to call him a naughty word.

He tried to ruin the Super Bowl celebration with his childishness.
In the game, Boldin got into a heated argument with offensive coordinator Todd Haley. After the game, instead of celebrating with his team, Boldin abruptly left the field, then abruptly left the locker room.
It was awful behavior.
[...] I have to say in nearly 20 years of doing this, I've never seen a player more concerned about his arguing with a coach over making a Super Bowl.

I just wonder if Boldin isn't costing himself some money here, too. He doesn't want to be a Cardinal anymore. I think he's made that pretty clear. But who's going to want to give a guy a huge contract when he's fighting with a coach when he should probably be happy about going to a Super Bowl?
Presumably, he's worried about his touches. Meanwhile, the team is going to the Super Bowl. Obviously, Boldin's placing a lot more importance on the former than the latter. Teams are on a character kick these days. It doesn't pay to be a selfish malcontent.
It's disappointing to see from Boldin. He showed such unbelievable selflessness and courage by coming back from a catastrophic injury earlier in the season. Maybe there's more to the story than I know, but looking at at it from the outside, I wouldn't have expected this from Boldin.
