THIS IS FUNNY COMING FROM THIS STIFF

It is now his job to make it hard for the coaches not to put him out on the field, instead of being handed something because of what was invested in him in terms of money and draft status."

Cowboys receiver Roy Williams doesn't deny being frustrated with his lack of involvement. He was only thrown to four times against the Giants. "Yeah, it's frustrating," Williams said. "I feel like I'm a playmaker. I run my route and hopefully the ball will be there. If not, I move on to the next play, then move on to the next one." Williams said he was not criticizing quarterback Tony Romo and remains confident in Romo to lead the Cowboys and get him the ball.

Hmmmm, the problem was NOT OWENS!

More accurately, the problem was not 100% Owens. It's hard to dispute that he was a problem when three different teams have had trouble with him.

But it's true - trouble on a team is hardly ever centered on just one guy.

Sounds like a guy giving his opinion.  Just like all the posters on this board.  What's wrong with that? Should we all stop giving our opinions too?

We don't get paid to give stupid opinions.

He really has no business even being an "analyst".

Let him analyze why he sucked so badly

I said it the moment he was franchised by the Patriots...he isn't worth it.  He was a one year wonder that took a 16-0 team and made them an 11-5 team.  Four game loss differential is not good.  He got a huge contract for having one good season while throwing to Randy Moss and Wes Welker.  Suddenly he's the most sought after QB.  It was stupid.  It was the new Scott Mitchell.  It was the beginning of the impetus for Jay Cutler to leave Denver...and now KC has him and they will be paying for this blunder for years.  Scott Pioli is supposed to be smarter than this.

Zorn chose to punt on a fourth-and-3 from the Detroit 44 early in the fourth quarter and the Lions scored a TD on the ensuing possession to go ahead 19-7 with 5:26 left in the game.

And what exactly is going on with the Texans' run defense? Led by Maurice Jones-Drew's 119 yards and three touchdowns, the Jaguars dented Houston for 184 yards on the ground. That's probably going to keep Houston ranked last in run defense for another week. The Texans gave up 240 yards rushing to the Titans and 190 to the Jets two weeks ago.

Can't be!  I thought Mario Williams was the new Reggie White?

At 0-3, the Titans have as many losses as they had all last regular season, and since the playoffs expanded to 12 teams in 1990, only three teams have dug out of an 0-3 hole to make the playoffs. That's the grim news that Jeff Fisher's club faces, and it can't be sugar-coated.

Is trouble brewing in Kansas City? Head coach Todd Haley clearly has not come to the defense on his starting quarterback, Matt Cassel. Here's what Haley said: "You've got to ultimately do what you think gives your team the best chance to win. If that means another quarterback being in there other than Matt Cassel, then sign me up." Ouch. That's not an endorsement for a player they traded for and gave a huge deal to.

h. Terrell Owens' stats for the year: five catches, 98 yards, zero impact. Shutout Sunday against the Saints.

9. I think this is the best example of how you never pick up where you leave off in the NFL: Eight months ago, Pittsburgh and Arizona went down to the wire in a thrilling Super Bowl. Now they're a combined 2-4, and it would be 1-5 if Tennessee played even semi-clutch down the stretch in the season opener against the Steelers. And each looks so vulnerable; Pittsburgh can't run nor protect Ben Roethlisberger. Arizona got manhandled by a decent Indy defensive front Sunday night. It always seems strange when last year's champs struggle so mightily the following year, but it happens so often that you'd have to be naïve to be surprised by it.

MANGINI may just be jackass of the year

Coach Eric Mangini runs a tight ship over there on the Cleveland Browns. How do we know? Nothing says d-bag no-nonsense like fining a player $1,701 over a bottle of water snatched from a hotel minibar. Apparently, the parched player grabbed the H2O but didn’t pay for it during a team road trip.
Other reasons Mangini is called “man**na” (rhymes with a female body part that has its own Monologues play):
  • He kept Brett Favre’s injury hush-hush while coaching the Jets last season. Oops, there’s a fine.
  • He made rookies take a 10-hour bus ride (each way) to and from his one-day football camp in Hartford, CT. This took place on a weekend between voluntary minicamp and team activities slated for the following Monday. Oh, and he took a plane on the way down. After some heat, Mangini rode the bus with them back to Cleveland.
  • He showed up in Cleveland and had a mural of Browns greats removed. Something tells us that isn’t a team-building exercise in the NFL Coach Handbook.
  • He backstabbed former mentor Bill Bellichick with that whole Spygate thing. (Hey, we’re Patriots fans. You didn’t think we’d forget to mention that, did you?)
Our fingers are crossed for more things to add to the list this season . . .

A different point since I have been hard on a lot of TO's antics.  I give him a lot of credit for maintaining his cool and and not responding to the ridiculous questioning by reporters designed only to provoke him after his consecutive games with a catch streak came to an end.

They really were trying to egg him into a tirade.  I saw that presser.  And then the guys at NBC made it sound like he was being a malcontent with his abrupt answers.  TO is a jackass and selfish player most of the time...but sometimes you have to wonder how much of it is the media.

Agreed. I don't like TO and I think he's a selfish ego-maniac, but that was a pretty pathetic display by the media there. You know all of them were on the edge of their seats because they knew there was a chance one of their questions would get TO to snap and they'd get their quality soundbyte to ignite some controversy. They were baiting him big time.

Leftwich being benched. That was one QB I prayed that the Vikings wouldn't sign. Give the staff credit on that decision.

That guy was the worst CB I have ever seen.  I have never seen so many plays where the CB is not even in the picture with the guy he is covering.  What a bad pick.

The same goes for Allison.

There were some people here screaming for 2 years about how good McCauley and Allison were but just weren't given fair shakes by Brad Childress.

Yet those same people, the ones who write down every single mistake I make, won't have the stones to come in and admit how wrong they were on those two stiffs.

HOW LONG BEFORE VINCE YOUNG GETS ANOTHER SHOT?

quote:

A week after fumbling the football to stop a potential game-winning drive against the Texans, Collins struggled down the stretch against the Jets.He failed to complete a pass in his last 13 attempts. In the fourth quarter he was 0-for-10 with an interception and a sack. He finished 15-of-37 for 170 yards, with two interceptions and the highlight of his day — a 9-yard touchdown pass to receiver Nate Washington.+

http://www.tennessean.com/article/20090928/SPORTS01/909280330/1027/Collins+takes+the+heat+for+loss

quote:

PASSING OFFENSE
D-

Kerry Collins threw 13 consecutive incompletions, including a pick, to finish the game. Often he was under pressure and had to get rid of the ball early. His receivers didn’t help him in crunch time, dropping at least four balls in the second half — two by Nate Washington, one each by Justin Gage and Kenny Britt. On the plus side, Washington had a nice scoring catch and tight end Alge Crumpler had a good game.

Amazing how the same sorry WR group that doomed Young is not crushing Collins

This is an opinion board JC.  Why do people have to come in and do a Mea Culpa for you?

I thought McCauley and Allison should have more chances but for whatever reason, they weren't...probably showed nothing at practice.  In any case they are both gone.  I never "screamed" about them...I wanted them to get a fair shake.  They probably did...and weren't able to do anything with it.

Some athletes are given a pass on everything growing up.  They don't realize that once you get to the top of your profession, you have to work really hard at it.  they probably didn't...expecting to be handed opportunities.

Though I agree Kerry Collins is playing like shit.  What makes you think Vince Young deserves another shot?  He was abyssmal as a staring QB.
