Cris Carter Criticizes Deion Branch
Sat Dec 4, 2010

WEEI reports ESPN analyst Cris Carter, in an appearance on The Big Show on Friday, suggested that the New England Patriots traded WR Randy Moss at the perfect time. That said, he also insisted that the Patriots' offense is much less dynamic without Moss and offered a harsh assessment of current Patriots WR Deion Branch. Though he praised Branch as a "great route-runner," Carter also suggested that Branch is too frequently injured and often "disappears" in games. "The ceiling with Moss with their offense is a lot higher. … They can be really dynamic. Like frightening. Now, if they don’t play well offensively, they’ll lose, because they have a defense that doesn’t dominate the games," said Carter. "Deion disappears too much against regular corners. He disappears in the game. He’s made, like, three guest appearances since the Super Bowl. ... Look at his stats. Look at his game. He’s just a guy. You guys have to be real about it. Great players, they don’t get hurt as much as the other players. There’s a difference between great ones and good ones and average ones." As for Moss, with whom Carter has a close relationship dating to their time together in Minnesota, the ESPN analyst suggested that the ex-Patriots receiver regretted both his ill-timed rant about the Patriots after a Week 1 win, and that Moss wished that he had never left New England. "When they got Randy, they got the absolute best out of him. And when they got rid of Randy, they got rid of him at the right time," said Carter. "When he spoke out against them, he made a serious mistake. I know personally that Randy wishes he could have that back. ... He wishes he had never left New England. He definitely wanted out of Minnesota with HC Brad Childress because he didn’t really respect his offensive philosophy."

Randy need to hire whoever Vick hired to help him with PR.

Every interview Vick does he says 100% the right thing. He is in a similar situation to Moss this year - last year of his contract. But he does nothing but praise the coaches and his team.

When you have a checkered past, that is the way you get a new contract - not by crying at a press conference.

I think Randy did the Pats a favor though because his skills have dropped off considerably this year.

The best PR people in the world can't stop someone from running their mouth when that's what they've been doing for 20 years. I don't think Randy Moss is teachable at this point in his life/career because he simply doesn't care. He doesn't care what people think about him and he doesn't care what the media prints about him. He may be just now learning cause and effect - as in if you say enough stupid and arrogant things you may lose your job. Ending up with the Patriots a few years ago was an ultimate reward for him, which failed to teach him the lesson about paying a price for being a jerk.

Very good points Lynn

Perhaps being knocked down to prison humbled Vick enough to listen to people around him who were trying to help

Randall really got humbled by his year out of the NFL and was a different person in Minnesota - maybe even too nice.

Maybe Moss will be humbled by a poor statistical season, and not much offered in contract money ?

I would LOVE it if the Vikes got him back again in the offseason, for a bargain rate, and did it RIGHT this time, winning a SB with a player that wants to bring it to Minnesota.

One thing I don't get with the NFL is how they allow high school and college teams to play on NFL game fields the week of a game!

That is ridiculous money grabbing

So for a dollar more the NFL teams have to play on crappy fields

Nothing like going out on a limb there Cris.  Peyton's the easiest target in sports right now.

I'm not sure I can be any more wrong about someone than I was about Singletary.
The guy had me hoodwinked, sold, and baffled from Day One.
I truly believed he'd be a great coach in the NFL. He sucks. No ifs/ands/buts. Sucks.
Mea Culpa.

Peytons at a low point, but I totally admire his "my fault, it starts and ends with me" take on it.
Wish a few more guys had that strength in them.

Agreed. Very impressed with that postgame presser.

I agree guys

He stepped up and took the heat. I am not a Manning fan at all and I was 100% impressed.

SINGLETARY

Sometimes guys have blind spots. His was his QB. His allegiance to Alex Smith - who flat out sucked - killed their season. Troy Smith is a terrible QB but at least he tries and gives 100% and the team is much more competitive with him. I said in the offseason SF was the perfect spot for McNabb. He needed a fiery coach but Singletary went with that sorry joker instead.

Not confirmed yet though

Wade Phillips started a landslide!

Josh McDaniels has been fired as head coach of the Denver Broncos, the team confirmed Monday.

Team spokesman Patrick Smyth told The Associated Press: "We can confirm that coach Josh McDaniels has been relieved of his head coaching duties."

McDaniels, who was also the main person involved in player personnel decisions, took the job as head coach in 2009. He got off to a 6-0 start but the team has lost 17 of the past 20 games since then. The Broncos are 3-9 this season after their 10-6 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs Sunday

A week ago, Broncos owner Pat Bowlen said he was keeping McDaniels as a coach in 2011 and that there would be no change. These comments came after McDaniels was fined $50,000 because his videographer was caught taping a San Francisco 49ers walkthrough in London.

McDaniels is the third coach fired this season, joining Wade Phillips and Brad Childress.

The team did not immediately name an interim coach.

He started out 6-0 and then went 5-17 after that including some horrible losses like the Raiders game

Yep.

They wasted a draft pick on Tebow probably too.

It's becoming fashionable for owners to fire their head coaches! Any bets on who is next?
