People don't want to touch Stalworth or Little and they paid their dues. Not their fault the penalties weren't stiffer. What are they supposed to do - advocate for more time in jail.

Yet people are free to not want them. Or players - gasp - that were division rivals. But I don't get the same leeway.

You get that leeway, Todd. It's okay to not want him on your team. But as far as his criminal behavior, he paid for it. Maybe not as harsh a penalty as you'd like, but he didn't get to pick the punishment either.

I hope he never does this stuff again. Some people learn for their mistakes. Some don't...

Then what is the problem exactly? I can't remember the last time I actually brought up his prison term.

Today I was only talking about the redemption factor. I know he won the Ed Block courage award last year and I guess he could win the Nobel peace prize for putting up such good fantasy football numbers but if you want to talk redemption let me know when he does something that actually means anything.

Well, how fair is that? I have a better chance of seeing Taylor Swift smoking crack while starring in a porn movie than seeing Vick win the Nobel.

I know we will see him in the playoffs and the Pro Bowl

We could even see him in the Super Bowl - if not this year then next

You know what I'd like to see?

Not today, not tomorrow but someday, using his influence or money - make a difference or save an animal shelter. Seeing a few pennies go in the tray would mean something to me.

If he gets this big new shoe contract and a new playing contract a couple mil to a place like Dogtown would be nice.

All he has done is play football well and do forced community work. If he's still even doing that.

No one has to agree with me. It's just my opinion on what redemption would start to look like. I read a quote from the judge who sentenced Vick. Said it was great to see him playing well - it showed that the system works. Crazy. If you want redemption - make a difference.

The system worked in this case. Debt paid to society, productive citizen again. So he doesn't ring the Santa bell at Walmart. Neither do I.

Vick spends every day off at a local school here talking to kids about the dangers of both dogfighting and hanging with the wrong crowds.

Enough is enough

He lost over $100M
millions went to animal causes
spends every off day promoting the cause
gets to keep less than 25% of his earnings
Gets a $472 car allowance! Come on, my car note is $820!

He paid his price.

There are plenty of rich people who get off because of money

He wasn't one of them

Right. What Vick did was horrible, no doubt. There's no excuse for it IMO.

But what guys like Stallworth/Lewis did was far worse. They KILLED PEOPLE!

Lewis never killed a man. Involved in some sketchy transgressions - yes. Killed a man - no, I don't believe that to be the truth.

What Stallworth did was not worse than what Vick did.

You know why I say that. Picture a family member coming to you and telling you they made a horrible mistake a killed a man under the influence vs finding out a family member was running a criminal enterprise predicated on extreme cruelty to animals. What's going to evoke greater disgust? Simple.

Now if you want to put it on the same level or below what Carruth did - I won't argue.

Look, I can't argue that the man didn't pay. His **** ups cost him where it might not have others. He so almost got away with it though.

I can't help it. I don't believe he has changed. I am unfortunately waiting for the other shoe to drop.

What's the answer? Death penalty for dog fighting?

The biggest issue with animal cruelty is that the fines are too low. In this case, the fines were steep. Roll out big penalties and cruelty will drop off. I've seen people get a $100 fine for drowning a bag of puppies.

Dog fighting in and of itself isn't the worst thing. All they need to do is cork their teeth and put gloves on their paws and I would prolly look the other way.

It's all the sick shit that went with it.

I'm all for the bigger penalties. And not just wrt animals. But it's beyond a joke what some people get for it.

It is not an "accident" when you KNOWINGLY drink or use drugs and then get in a car

That is far worse than Vick when you kill someone doing that

An accident would have been if Stallworth was OBEYING THE LAW and lost control of his car and killed someone

That is an accident

He is forgetting that Stallworth knowingly got high and drunk and THEN killed a man

HE bought his way out of jail by bribing the family of the victim

he did not pay his price like Vick did
