What he actually said if you read it was fairly innocuous.

quote:

"We're going to play fair and we're going to hit him," Tuck said. "To be honest, I'm going to err on the side of knocking him out because we've seen so many times where a guy like Vick tip-toes up the sidelines, catches his balance and keeps going for another 50. So on that situation, I'm going to hit him, simple as that."

Certainly no worse than Jared Allen talking about putting his helmet square in Aaron Rodgers spine.

Saying that - me thinks IS good idea.

Knock him out and I won't have to boycott next weeks game.

Vick is unstoppable

I don't care about the numbers, he is the MVP

What a game

MVP race tightened a little today

Vick
8-1 as starter
28 TDs (20 passing, 8 rushing)
3,368 yards (2,755 passing, 613 yards rushing)
5 INTs

Brady
12-2 as starter
30 TDs (29 passing, 1 rushing)
3,398 yards
4 INTs

The stats are real close.

If Vick hadn't of gotten hurt he would be the favorite for MVP

This is why some teams never will be consistent winners

quote:

We all know John Fox and his $6 million salary will be gone from Carolina at the end of the season. And the Panthers will look elsewhere for a coach. But it'll be a much less expensive coach. So scratch Cowher, who now splits his time between Raleigh and New York, because he won't be involved. Owner Jerry Richardson doesn't believe coaches are worth that much money.

???

Who wouldn't pay $6 mil/yr for a Bill Belichick to coach their team?

Agreed. That's very stupid of Carolina. A coach at $6M or whatever can have a far greater impact on a team than a single, expensive FA, for instance.

I'd still take Brady; with the cast of characters he's playing with on offense (Woodhead/LawFirm/Tate, etc.)

But Vick is close.

It'll end up being Brady for MVP and Vick for comeback player of the year.

I would lean to Vick because the plays he was making no one else could have done but I understand Brady is the favorite with his streak.

Too bad the Pack couldn't pull the upset.

Either way, Vick is establishing himself as a top 3 QB.

Now he has to do it in the playoffs. The Eagfles will beat Atl but the Saints are a bad matchup for them.

* Can the Eagles win a Super Bowl with a defense that already has given up 30 touchdown passes? Can they win one with a defense that has the worst red-zone rate (76.9) in the league in the last 22 years? Stay tuned. It looks like we’re going to find out.

The Eagles gave up 4 more touchdown passes Sunday, which makes 12 in the last 4 games and the afore-mentioned 30 in 14 games. That’s 3 more than last year and one more than any Eagles team ever has allowed. The only 2 teams in the league that have given up more TD passes this year than the Eagles are Dallas and Houston. Both have given up 31. Both also are 5-9.

Stat of the Week No. 4: In two meetings this season, the Raiders rushed for 592 yards against the Broncos.

That is amazing!

Why can't the Vikings run the ball like that?

Remember when Peterson used to take over games?

As for the Giants' coaching: Has any coaching staff ever had a worse quarter? Ahead 31-10 with eight minutes remaining against the top big-play combination the NFL -- Michael Vick and Jackson -- if the Giants had gone to backed-off shell coverage and forced the Nesharim to nickel-and-dime their way down the field, the clock would have run out on any comeback. Instead, Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell ordered furious blitzing, and head coach Tom Coughlin did not overrule him.

Perry Fewell lost head coaching consideration with this move:

Vick's two big scrambles in the fourth quarter, for 35 and 33 yards, came against blitzes. Yes, the Giants sacked Vick twice in the first half on blitzes, but early in the contest, this tactic caught the Eagles by surprise. At halftime, they adjusted. Calling blitzes when protecting a late lead was like sending Vick an engraved invitation to make big plays, rather than forcing him to nickel-and-dime: "Dear Mr. Vick, please do us the honor of sprinting toward our end zone." Leading 31-24, the Giants had Philadelphia facing third-and-10 on its 12-yard line with 2:50 remaining and the Eagles out of timeouts. Play coverage! Giants coaches called a preposterous seven-man blitz, and Vick simply ran outside around the blitz for 33 yards. This was the worst defensive call TMQ has ever seen. Jersey/A has a highly rated passing defense. Make Vick try to throw against a shell; don't megablitz and offer a free long gain.

QUOTE

As regards Donovan McNabb, the Redskins gave up second- and fourth-round draft choices for him, then awarded him a new contract with stupendous paper value, and now have demoted him to third string; he is likely to be waived. When Shanahan arrived in Washington, his first big push was to obtain McNabb. Now, Shanahan apparently wants McNabb thrown under the bus, in order to shift blame for yet another Redskins losing season. Shanahan rode into town encouraging the press corps belief that he was some kind of ultragenius. So the embarrassing season can't be his fault -- McNabb or Albert Haynesworth must be to blame.

As Tuesday Morning Quarterback noted of Shanahan this past summer, "his big seasons all came with John Elway: in his non-Elway years, Shanahan's results are pedestrian." Increasingly it seems Shanahan gained a reputation as a top coach because he lucked into one of the best quarterbacks ever -- plus good players on the Broncs' mid-1990s rosters. Left on his own without Elway, Shanahan is somewhere between average and a bumbler. Blaming McNabb for the bad season might delay, for one additional year, general recognition of this.

Note: I said last week that Shanahan would waive kicker Graham Gano in order to blame him for the missed extra point at the end of the loss to the Bucs. A few hours after that column came out, Shanahan waived holder Hunter Smith, effectively blaming him. Win as a team, lose as a team -- if a player should be waived for a single-second slip with a wet football in cold rain, shouldn't Shanahan be fired for botching the whole situation by going for one to tie instead of two to win?

Hmm

Chris Johnson with more yards and more 20+ yard runs than Peterson

Heck, Darren McFadden is only a few yards behind Peterson

Perhaps some folks were patting themselves on the back too soon

No, not really. AD has a MUCH worse OLine. And he's been hurt a couple of games of late.

If you watch the two play, there's no question AD's the better overall running back.

Funny how the argument shifts away from stats

Anyway, I hope the new coach teaches Peterson how to pick up blitzers and works extensively with him on catching passes out of the backfield.

If improves those two things he will become the weapon many people here think he is.

Right now, he is not a dominant player

Peterson dominated 1 game this year - home against the Lions

Whoopee

Last year he dominated the Browns and Lions again

You have to go back to 2008 to find Peterson dominating on a regular basis

Jackson was not made available to reporters Monday - that is, unless you were philadelphiaeagles.com or FOXSports - but he gave a response after the game that suggested he intended to both celebrate his touchdown and burn the clock.

"I try to do something out of the ordinary," Jackson said. "I probably would've dove in from the 12-yard line if I could. I don't know, I knew there was 14 seconds left in the game, and I didn't know if there was time still left on the clock, so I just wanted to run along the goal line, and I knew nobody was going to catch me. Like I said, I like to do some things for excitement. That's what the fans and all the crowd pay for, so I like to bring that out."

Eagles coach Andy Reid said after the game that Jackson was trying to run out the clock.

CBS Sports had a poll with the question, did Favre play his last game. But they only had 2 buttons, yes and no. There was no 'hopefully'.

Jeff Fisher: Acquiring Moss was 'not a mistake' (?):

YOU CANNOT JUST LOOK AT STATS IN FOOTBALL! I never have, and I never will.

Especially for a RB. So much is dependent on your OL. Was Emmitt Smith the best ever? Not a freaking chance. But his OL was dominant, and that made all the difference.

I'd wager I've seen as much of the Titans as anyone on this board, unfortunately, and there is no comparison between the two OL's. Seriously, if our OL played nearly as well as the Titans has in general, this would not even be a debate.

Tim Tebow doesn't throw the ball much better than Joe Webb

Now there is a good comparison for Webb, not Vick.

Both of them are runners that throw ugly balls as passes.

Tebow was 6 for 18 and people act like he did something. Some of the passes he did complete should have been picked.
