So you want someone to bet that the Pats won't win the SuperBowl THIS year, starting a rookie instead of the greatest QB in the game?

Wow, way to go out on a limb, JC.

PATRIOTS SUPER BOWL CHANCES THIS DECADE =

I will go further

They won't make the playoffs this year and they won't make the Super Bowl next year

Further still - they won't win another one with this group.

I tend to agree with that.

However, where we disagree is:

1) the effect of that cheating.  I don't think it gave them any titles, personally.
2) our thoughts on others cheating.  i think basically most other teams in the league have been doing similar things to the pats.  if jimmy johnson says it (and he did), then i tend to believe him.

1. They cheat
2. Tired of all the hype
3. They haven't won it all in years
4. Brady's ego cost Moss a SB win

Cheating is cheating, and if you cheat for no benefit, it is almost worse. At least if you're cheating to try to win, I see the point. Cheating just to do it is a complete slimeball move.

The other things is just an excuse that doesn't fly with grade school kids, I'm certainly not going to give a 50 year old man a pass on it. He's the epitome, the best, the definer of the practice, and he gets zero respect from me. Show me other's as slimy as him, and they get none either.

This isn't a dig, just a comment... I have never seen a team get so destroyed by one play as the Patriots were by the Dolphins. I honestly think Brad Childress could have reacted to it better than Bill and Patriots did.

What was going on there? Did Bill just have an off day or something?

Seeing them just get stomped by the Dolphins was just hilarious. They literally ran the same play over and over again, and Bill had no clue what to do. I

That was amazing. They literally had no answer for the Miami freaking Dolphins. I have never seen a team just run 1 single play with so much success at the NFL level.

The only thing that diminishes the joy of the Pats getting hammered this year will be watching Moss waste yet another year of his career.

Belichick is stupid to go with Cassell with no competition.

Is there any coach in his right mind that would join the Raiders?  Seriously, I can't see any retread or any up and comer being stupid enough to take that job as long as Senile Davis is still around.

How does this help the argument that the Pats will be title contenders next year?

It doesn't.  It just seems like JC was trying to diminish BB as a coach, and to me that is completely unfounded.

I think circumstances play a large part.  It's not like the Pats were far away from a title the last couple years.

2007-Botched FG by a rookie kicker loses them the SB basically.
2008-Kevin Faulk gets hurt and Eli lucks out with a miraculous catch by Tyree to cost them the SB.

We're talking about 2 plays basically costing them 2 more superbowls.

It's also possible that "circumstances" (ie: cheating) played a BIG part in them winning three 3 point Super Bowls.

You're a hockey guy, just go Happy Gilmore on 'em. Pull the jersey up over their heads and go to town, one to the gut and one to to face, they'll flip over and be looking for plate numbers.

Again, did anyone in 2001 think the Yankees would go this whole decade without winning another World Series?

The jig is up on the Pats.  Last year was their big shot for #4 and they blew it.

"2 plays" my rear end.  The 98 Vikings were 1 play from a SB - so what?  They LOST!

The 2007 Pats have finally replaced the 98 Vikings as the greatest chokers in history.

Their entire team is in decline and teams are going to be going after them this year.  Cassell is brutal, might as well start Sam Cassell.

A guy I work with said he heard a sound byte from Denny Green and Denny was asked if he would consider the job and I guess Denny said he wouldn't consider answering the phone as long as Al is there.

No and I agree with you. I really thought the Yankees would win one more with Mussina. Just think Mussina went to the Yanks the year after their last one after wasting away in Baltimore.

I think all the teams pushed the line with video, Belichick might have taken it to such a level that his arrogance had to be repremended.

To me their cheating was like Tice scalping tickets. There was a rule that wasn't being enforced until someone crossed the line so far the league had to make a statement.

I feel bad for Moss and I am friends with Tom Brady's first cousin, so I am biased towards the Patriots. With that said they are done with this group as you said. Maybe Brady will make a run in 4 years with a whole new cast.

The lack of adjustment yesterday was just like Childress when his script is done.
