Hasn't the SEC won six national championships in a row? (and seven of the past nine) They deserve to have the bias.

That is true but it also helps that winning the SEC/SEC title pretty much guarantees your place in BCS title game.

Alabama was the best team this season. LSU did beat them in Tuscalosa but Bama really left alot of plays on the field and missed 4 FGs. That game was the perfect storm for LSU and they still needed OT to win. Bama didn't leave this to chance at all.

The defenses are great, probably equal but that LSU offense is so unimaginative. They've gotten by many times by wearing teams down physically but Bama can handle that and LSU has nothing left. They didn't even try to hit Randle downfield.

That's because Jefferson isn't that good of a QB. I would really be surprised if he's their starter next year. Frankly he seemed scared last night. His option running was terrible and didn't want to sit in the pocket.

I thought Musburger's "honey badger" love was way over the top. He didn't do squat that game save break up a pass that had no busineess being thrown.

I have a feeling that LSU is not going to be as good next year, espeically if Jefferson is still the QB.

Agreed....you look into his eyes last night and he seemed overwhelmed. I thought les Miles did a terrible job of making any in-game adjustments. They kept doing the same things over and over again.  Jefferson was pitching so early on that option that there was no way it was ever going to gain yards....and it didn't!

Over the top....He fears no man?

They have a ton of new guys coming in...they always do.  LSU is the kind of program that has been so good of late that one bad game...hell one bad season and they will still bring in some of the best high school talent in the country.  They will just reload.

I thought last night's game was the perfect reason for having a playoff. Would love to see a team like Oregon or Ok St play Alabama.  And lets get away from the 44 days between a teams last regular season game and the National Championship game.  Sure Saban had his kids ready....but lets see you do that two weeks in a row versus the best of the best!

BINGO

All bowl games should be done by New Year's Night

Final Conference Championship games could be played the Saturday before Christmas.

That gives you 10-14 days before the BCS games

I love the New Year's Day Bowl games. I'd hate to see them go. But then in my scenario, only the top 4 teams would be in the playoffs and there would be 2 playoff games on New Year's Day and then the title game a week later.

Excatly not much would change. Two of the 4 BCS bowls would become a semi final, followed by the Nat'l championship the following week.

Sometimes I wonder if the BCS doesn't got to playoff just so there's always something to talk about in the media?

Yeah, not sure what Brent was doing with the "honey badger" thing? Trying to gain some street cred that he was Youtube hip?

Maybe he was trying to provide some color because Herb Kirkstreet turned his mic off.

Back in the 80s my girlfriends parents had one of those gigantic satellite dishes and sometimes you'd get basketball games where you'd still hear the announcers during commercials (now called "breaks"). Anyway, during the commercials, Musburger once made some comments that would get you fired nowadays for being a racist.

Also, before the NO-Vikes playoff game in the 80s, Jimmy the GEEK Synder predicted the Saints would win. After the game, Musburger said to him something along the lines of "Just like you predicted Jimmy, a Vikings upset". You could see the Geek taken aback, yet within seconds play right along with it.

And as an aside, I met some sort of lowly MNF producer who said the MNF gang with Cosell would often almost come to blows and that Cosell was a drunk (pretty well known now).

Maybe LSU is going to redshirt him, since he took last night off.

We want the best team to win the national championship, however way it is determined, not the most entertaining team. A very important part of any championship team is it's defense. I appreciate a team with a great defense. I wish we had one here again.

If you want to argue for a playoff system instead of the BCS system, I'm with you, though.

I'm not against a playoff system, mainly because I think the gap between the end of regular season and the BCS game actually causes the quality of play to slip.

This shit is abysmal. Everybody with a hand in this BCS crap should be ashamed.

What would you have to say say there was a playoffs, and these 2 teams beat down everybody else (like they did this year) and ended up in the championship game anyway?

If that happened, then so be it. I just have a real problem with a team playing for the national title without having even played in its own conference championship, let alone winning it.

So you would put 1 team each from a select group of conferences into the BCS playoff? Kind of college footballs version of equal opportunity?

I feel sadness for him that his life spiraled down so quickly until it physically took him.

I think basically he was a good man but he failed his greatest test miserably.  It goes to show that a few really bad decisions can erase a lifetime of good work.

Most of us will face a time in our life when we are tested.  I hope that we can do a better job than he did lest we suffer a similar fate.

The SEC teams have not only been in the games, they have dominated.

Sometimes a key player gets hurt over the course of the season, which could skew the results of a playoff run.

Perhaps he didn't want to deal with the issue because he wanted return his focus to his job. There's a lesson in that, I think. Our whole life should not revolve around our job- or, our responsibilities do not begin and end with our jobs.

It's not unusual for people who work into their 80s and 90s to die very quickly after finally retiring (or being forced to retire).

Something about the body not continuing at its normal pace.  It just gives up all together.

Sad for his career to end the way it did.  With scandal instead of dignity.
