It depends on what you look for in a QB. Manziel's popularity and excitement he creates reminds me of Vick. He's not a criminal. Everybody knows the NCAA regulations about athletes and autographs is bogus. Like Vick, it's if he can take the pounding. Tons of upside.

Fairly decent chance that Mariota goes back for his Junior year if Oregon doesn't win the National title.

At that point it could really be ugly with Bridgewater locked into Jacksonville, and Clowney to Tampa.... Yikes, I don't think I would reach for Manziel..

Lets hope something good comes from this debacle this year.... New coaching staff, perhaps GM...

We may have to draft Boyd, or Mettenberger, or the kid from Georgia later in the draft, and bring in a guy like Cutler....or tank another season, and go after Winston, or Mariota in 2015.

Plus the alias "Johnny Football" is a lot cooler than "Ron Mexico".

His teammates love playing with him from what I hear.

This should go over well. He has a little Favre in him on the field.

I would have said the exact same thing.

Now with your history...I don't want Manziel...

Just kidding.

Truly the kid is a gamer....but then so was Tim Tebow...and how's his career going?

Alright there are significant differences in their games.  Like Johnny Football's mechanics aren't a mess.

Manziels a winner.  and I would love to have him in purple.

I saw Gabe Jackson from Miss. St. play last weekend. He would be a 10 year starter at guard and will probably be available in the second round. He can really move for a guy that weighs 330 pounds. The best corner I've seen this year is Roby from Ohio State. He looks like a pro already. Mack from Buffalo looks like he will be a good lb. He is primarily used as a rush lb, but he moves well enough to play in a 4-3 as an outside guy. so many decisions, so few draft picks....

Given the offense he was in, I had serious reservations about Tebow.

Mariota must not be lighting the world on fire, with his team down at halftime, and zero points on the scoreboard against Stanford.

I really haven't seen that much of Johnny Football, just the 2 games against Alabama (last year and this year), this years' games against Auburn and UTP, and some highlight videos.

I didn't realize how much Johnny Football was running, he's obviously running too much. But, unlike Mariota, I don't feel like Manziel's game is dependent upon running. And if he got with the Vikings, he wouldn't have to run all that much with Peterson in the lineup.

What impresses me about Manziel, is his ability to make so many different types of throws, to so many different trajectories. The other thing is his ability to move around in the pocket, and to make quick decisions, and his great instincts. Manziel might end up going 1st in the draft. It's a pipe dream to think the Vikes could trade down and get him, even late in the 1st round. I would be VERY surprised if he's not drafted in the top 10.

Someone was bragging up Boyd, then I watch one of his games (against Florida State), and he sucked.

A lot of talk of Mariota on here, I watch a little bit of one his games (against Stanford), and he sucked.

I watch Manziel play 4 games, and he looks fantastic in each one of them, even the 2 losses.

Mariota looks much more dependent on running than Manziel. Manziel looks like he can throw circles around him. I hope the Vikes don't get stuck with Mariota, hopefully he's hyped and some other team takes him first.

For what it's worth, it said on ESPN that Mariota might have a sprained MCL. That would explain the meteoric decline.

Mariota will not be coming out this year after that performance tonight.

I like Manziel but he should stay in college. He's improved his game greatly this season and he could definitely use another season to hone his skills.

I am skeptical of Mariota not just after tonight but the Ducks offense is still kind of gimmicky albeit very effective in college. Where is Darron Thomas? He was very good at Oregon but he couldn't even make the Calgary Stampeders.

If Manziel does declare i would grab him over Mariota, Hundley, Boyd. Still plenty of football left.

I gotta say, the more I've watched these QB, the less I've been impressed.

Even Bridgewater, I thougth he was very average against a mediocre (at best) Kentucky team.

I would guess no is even close to Luck/RGIII level.

Oregon was terrible last night, and Mariota looked poor for the first time this year, however Mariota is completely on another level then Darron Thomas...Not close....

I do agree that it is a very different offense that has not figured out how to beat the old smashmouth style of football. Everytime they've run up against a stout LSU team, or Auburn, or even Stanford who hit em in the mouth early, they have NEVER responded.

One thing I notice with college football. Things change on one game. A guy can be the greatest ever, but if he has one bad game at the wrong time, it's all over.

Mariota is a very good player. One game does not make a player. Stanford has the Ducks figured out. After all, the Cardinal had the ball for 40 minutes, so it wasn't all Mariota's fault. A classic meltdown by the Ducks. It happens every year. I would still put them against any other team in the nation and take my chances, Bama included.

I think history just repeated itself, as a victory Redskins probably took the Vikes out of a chance for one of the top 2 or 3 QBs.

I watched Bridgewater for the first time tonight, and he made some impressive throws. He seemed to struggle a little bit with bad weather, and his defense and special teams helped him out. Overall, I thought Bridgewater played very well, threw accurately, and I really liked his toughness and willingness to take a hit.

What also impresses me about Manziel is he does so much without a whole lot of running from his RBs. He also gets very little help from his defense, especially this year. Somebody mentioned his INTs this year, in the 3 games I saw, I remember 2 INTs, and I think they were both of the fingertips of WRs. I wonder how many INTs Manziel had last year when his defense was a little bit, not a lot, but a little bit better ?

Looking over a little film, I didn't realize Manziel was running so much until I rewatched some of the film paying attention to that. I don't think he really needs to run, he or they just choose to do it. I don't think he's reliant on it, as he can really pass, he just can't seem to resist when there's a big open space for running. He'll have to become more of a pocket passer in the NFL. I think Manziel would do well playing with a RB like Peterson, Manziel wouldn't have to run much at all, maybe just on a few 3rd downs like Ponder does. But Manziel could run FEWER 3rd downs than Ponder, because Manziel can actually read defenses quickly, and can pass accurately.

Another guy to keep an eye on is Derek Carr at Fresno State. He is the younger brother of David Carr. Completing 69% with 28 touchdowns and just four interceptions. Why he isn't in the conversation for the Heisman is beyond me. The kid is very talented. His numbers are about as good as anybody in the country and he has Fresno ranked No. 16.

A&M about to play Mississippi State.

Like Brad said before, it would be one thing if Manziel was only carving up mid-tier opponents. He's been doing it in the SEC, though.

I haven't seen much of Carr, being Texas. I've heard he's pretty damn good, though. He got in a shoot out w/ my Boise State Broncos and prevailed earlier. It's definitely not our year. The defense is young and inexperienced.

None of these guys coming out will project as well as Luck or RG3 did, but after next season, I think Winston will be regarded as highly as Luck and RG3.

Plenty of things will change on the QB's before draft day. Some will get over hyped because of a good performance in a Bowl Game (Vince Young) and some will rise up the ranks after the Senior Bowl and Combine.

I expect Renner and Murray to be mentioned a lot more as we get closer to draft day. Also, Carr, as Brad mentioned, could be climbing up draft boards after the Combine.

I fully expect Manziel to drop, but probably not as much as he should. I seriously doubt he measures in at any more than 5' 11".
He will be a interception machine in the NFL. Having one of the best, tallest, athletic WR's in the Nation has bailed him out dozens of time this season. IMO, Manziel should be a 3rd or 4th round selection, but, much like Tebow, he will go a round or two too early and be a huge disappointment.

The more I watch of Johnny Football, I gotta say he makes all the throws, and his presence in the pocket is pretty amazing.

I've been trying not to like him, but today he's just incredible (other then one INT in the EZ.

I felt the same as Pete most of this year, but am warming to the idea of drafting Manziel. And I'm shocked that I said that.
