Alabama kicked a field goal, but it was called back due to a penalty. That penalty was questionable.

Not saying we should draft him.  and there are things in this video that concern me...but a couple things that would make it so I am not unhappy with Derek Carr.  First, he has a quick release...second, there are several throws into tight coverage on this video.  He's not afraid to throw the ball to someone with a defensive back all over him...

Ponder fears making mistakes.  Carr doesn't fear making tough throws.

Now that Houston has the inside track on getting Bridgewater, do you think they'll take him, or might they take a trade offer ?

[Houston has 2 wins, and finishes with: at Indy, Denver, at Ten]

The Combine will tell the tale with Bridgewater. I've always thought they would take Clowney at #1 (if they had that pick).

Houston passed on R Bush and took Super Mario the last time they had the #1 pick. My guess is with JJ Watt playing the same spot as Clowney and the need for a star QB I don't think they pass on Bridgewater if he's the consensus top pick.

Even though they like Keenen he is a limited qb.

With the Jags win last night, we fall back down to the 5th spot in the up coming draft.

Color me impressed with Carr. Very athletic and a cannon for an arm

I'd consider taking his wr Burse as well

The more I see of Carr, the more I like him.  Love the block he laid the defender out with on the reverse....If we could keep Cassel as the starter next season and with a decent QB coach build this kid up, I think he could be one of the best QB's taken in this years draft.  I like Manziel because he brings some flash and grit, but I think Carr is the one I'd want us to take....

Count me in on Carr. He appears to be able to make every throw in the book, but he's got to fill out a little bit if he's going to last a 16 game season. I still like Fales from San Jose a little bit, but not in the first or second round.

Want no part of Carr

This team has to stop settling for 2nd tier QBs

That mentality landed us Ponder

The last time we drafted a stud QB was Culpepper and he was 10X the QB of Ponder

What don't you like about Carr?  I'm just curious.  He seems to have all the tools.....do you think he doesn't project well in the pro game?  I'd take him over Ponder right now!!!  Plus, once Bridgewater is off the board, I think its a crap shoot at best.

Carr interview

Of course I'd take him (and 10 other draft eligible QBs) over Ponder. For me it's just that Carr passed up a chance to play at a major school to go to Fresno State, and is putting up big numbers against inferior opponents. I still expect the Vikings to be drafting at or around #5, and he's a guy that's only going to be considered that high because so many QBs are dropping out of this draft. He's moving up by default. That said, I'd be very happy to get him in the late 1st round, so maybe I should rethink it.

My question is who will even be a 1st round pick at QB aside from Bridgewater. Manziel and Carr look to be somewhere in the 1st, but like most years, the QB-hungry teams are mostly at the top of the draft order. I'm glad Mariota didn't declare. Oregon Suck QB's always make me uneasy.

Absolutely horrible throwing mechanics. He falls backwards on every single throw. I want nothing to do with this guy.

If you google him his girlfriend gets more attention then his QB play.

I'm not seeing the same thing you are.

Watched this video and it doesn't look like he's falling backwards ever.
Makes throws into coverage, which is something Ponder doesn't do.

That being said, today is the first time I've heard of him.  He's the kind of guy you draft in the 4th round or lower and hope you catch fire.

It's more of a fall to the left because of his throwing motion. It looks weird.

Wow, sorry Scott, but that might be the laimest QB highlight video I've ever seen put together. Unless you like watching his celebration dances, or dump off passes, and a few jump ball type throws down the field, and what really got me was they actually showed him handing the ball off numerous times

Saw almost zero deep out route throws into tight windows. Sorry I did stop watching at about the 7 minute mark... Couldn't take the lack of useful analysis clips.

He may very well have everything you want, but you won't find it in this video.

I never said he has everything I want.  But there are things that he did do that impressed me.  Like throw to guys that were well covered.  Maybe it's from years of Tarvaris Jackson and Christian Ponder, but outside of Favre we really haven't had a QB that will do that in quite some time.
