Mariota in a NY minute

This team is stuck in football purgatory

Can't draft high enough to get a stud QB

As it stands Houston, and the Rams will be drafting #1 & #2......

According to Ian, Houston is happy with Case Keenum, and the Rams may still like Bradford better then Bridgewater perhaps?

I say both would be open to trade to a team at #8 moving to the top....

I'm on the books for the Vikes moving to #1 and selecting Teddy Bridgewater..... Gotta be aggressive, how'd being aggressive work in moving up to get CP84?

Get'r done!

What would it take to move up.....

more than i would give for Bridgewater....probably will bite me in the butt later, but it would take an even bigger package of picks to move up than for RG3

dont like it, no sir, dont like it at all

Well the Vikes say the same every year, until ofcourse we stand pat at #12, and select our future QB who just about everyone in here threw up in their mouth when his name was called...

You gotta really like a guy to move up that far that is for sure.... But we need someone dynamic, not just a freakin game manager, something I never wanna hear again about our QB.

Do you stand pat and hope Manziel, or Bortles falls that far?

IF mariota comes out, is anyone interested in that?

Mariota isn't coming out. If we suck again next year we may have a shot at him or Winston.

Only if you're bringing the o coordinator

He looked very mediocre at times this year

I would stay away from Mariota. I'm with Todd, and believe the Vikes should take Manziel at #8 if he is there.

It's best to just roll the dice with Manziel, even though he's probably under sized. And I would start Manziel day 1, and hopefully after 16 games you have a pretty good idea if he is the QBOTF, or if you need to draft Winston with your #1 pick, or trade up for Winston next year.

I would consider Bortles also at #8, but I think if Bridgewater and Manziel are gone, you're probably better off drafting another position, and maybe trading into late round 1 to get Bortles.

I'm with you. He's right up there with Bridgewater IMO. The guy was fantastic until he torn an MCL in the UCLA game.

I have said this before...and I have other views of why I think Manziel is not an NFL QB....name me one Heisman winning QB that has ever made it in the NFL?

That's my story and I'm sticking to it

So old school guys would be the one to bring us to the promise land you have to go back to the stone age to name them....and I guess my point would be Manziel isn't a stud.

Cam and RGIII are studs and we knew that.....Yes good call missed those two...my bad

Like I said before you have to go way way back...I was referring to the modern era and I know I should have posted it that way. At least I'm bringing out old school names

I personally don't give a hoot if somebody has won a Heisman.  Some Heisman winners have gone on to have very good NFL careers, like Testeverde, Staubach, Charles Woodson, Earl Campbell, Tony Dorsett, Marcus Allen, Hershel Walker, Tim Brown, Barry Sanders, Eddie George, Ricky Williams, Reggie Bush...

It really means nothing to me.  Toby Gerhart came in second for a Heisman so it means very little.

What Manziel has got is an "it" factor, his mechanics aren't horrendous like Tebows were, and don't talk to me about size, when Drew Brees, Russell Wilson, Doug Flutie, etc have done quite well.

Was referring to QB's....his size is a major concern....your saying he is a Drew Brees..Russell Wilson...and Doug Flutie does nothing for me but just being a good story he has accomplished nothing in my eyes.
Your talking about the "it" factor I will have to disagree...In college yeah but bringing it to the Pro's I just don't see it.
It took Drew Brees time to be what he is..a great QB....Russell Wilson I have no answer to that one very good QB who can only go up..kid seems like he has a good head on his shoulders.....
Manziel is a spoiled person and has some immaturity issues....lots of red flags for me from a leadership standpoint.
Honestly we can just talk about it because its not up to us to determine but up to the new head coach....I'm just giving my opinion on a guy who I believe will struggle as a pro.....for every person that made it I can bring up everyone tht hasn't made it....I guess that's why we are just posting on here rather then working for the Vikes

Just took a look at some of Bortles and Manziels highlights.  What I see of Bortles is a guy that has a good arm, isn't afraid to throw it into traffic and is not bad when it comes to accuracy.  His problem is locking in on a reciever and getting willy nilly with ball security when he runs.

Manziels passes have zip, they are accurate for the most part...he keeps his eyes downfield when scrambling to find someone to throw to.  His problem is happy feet and a tendency to run too much.

I would take either and not be unhappy.

Manziel is a massive project and/or coach killer waiting to happen.

He has a lot of highlight real plays but those will be picks in the NFL. He throws it up for grabs all the damn time. He also holds the ball down by his knee in and around the pocket. A coach/team is going to have a lot of work on their hands to get him up to par. That assumes, also, that he survives.

I've said it numerous times. What I love most about his game is what's going to get him decapitated in the NFL. He's absolutely fearless. He runs like RGIII did last year. He takes big shots all the time. If you want to compare his size to Flutie, Wilson, Brees ect....that's fine. Those guys never took the shots he takes. They ran, yes, but they did it "smart". Hell, I've NEVER seen Wilson take a big shot. Dude is annoyingly good at getting down when he needs to.

Welcome to the minority Jesser. Manziel will not even be as good in the NFL as his A&M predecessor.

Biggest bust of the draft, especially if a team is silly enough to draft him in the 1st.

No question if they take any QB I will deal with it until he sucks it up (see Ponder )

I homering it up for whoever we take. I've taken enough hits analyzing the last 2. You could tell pretty early that neither Ponder or Jackson had what it took. But people didn't want to hear it.

Even if I have to hit myself over the head with a blunt object - like say a large mallet (ha!) I will love our new QB.

Before you even get to the on-field stuff, Manziel comes off in what I've seen and read as a whiny bitch whose act will instantly be threadbare with coaches and teammates. Other kids liked him in college, but his first tantrum will alienate adults, of which the Vikes hopefully have a few. It seems the best scenario for drafting a QB will be to take among those available at 8 or later the QB who has the best arm skills and head as projected 3 years hence and acquire a vet who can man the position in 2014.

And yes, I understand that I accept mediocrity, lack balls, etc. I also live in reality here on Earth.

Sign Cutler, draft Boyd in 2nd.

I think Boyd will surprise some people. He stock may rise too much after combine though.
