I predict Manziel won't throw at the combine. His measurable will be lousy as well, slower than expected 40, less than 6 feet tall, not very strong.
This will drop him to the second or third round.
When he plays, he will outperform the measurables and be a decent QB, but never a team guy.
He will post better numbers than actual playoff wins.

That being said, I would take a chance on him in the third round, but not before that.

Before you even get to the on-field stuff, Manziel comes off in what I've seen and read as a whiny bitch whose act will instantly be threadbare with coaches and teammates. Other kids liked him in college, but his first tantrum will alienate adults, of which the Vikes hopefully have a few. It seems the best scenario for drafting a QB will be to take among those available at 8 or later the QB who has the best arm skills and head as projected 3 years hence and acquire a vet who can man the position in 2014.

And yes, I understand that I accept mediocrity, lack balls, etc. I also live in reality here on Earth.

I wonder if I dare say this.......I wanted the Vikings to take Ryan Mallet.....along with maybe a couple others on this board. What we heard then was he is trouble..on and off field. But yet there are some who want to Manziel at number 8 and he has way more issues then Mallet ever had. Pictures of him holding up Hundo's at a club..( I thought he was a collegekid?) how does he get that money....He also didn't want to participate in Peyton Mannings Camp one day because he was hungover.....and they asked him to leave....Yeah give me that guy to lead my team...NO THANKS...

Which is why I said second or third round, and never say never....if he measure 5'9 he will.

Probably not quite that small, but I bet he doesn't hit the 5'11" mark.

Hand measurement will be important on him as well.

I've read he does have big hands though.

Yeah I could see the 4th round. He has "IT" but nothing else. The worst arm in college football. Extremely bad decision making.

The epitomy of a gunslinger only he uses a BB gun because he is only in 5th grade.

Manziel is a massive project and/or coach killer waiting to happen.

He has a lot of highlight real plays but those will be picks in the NFL. He throws it up for grabs all the damn time. He also holds the ball down by his knee in and around the pocket. A coach/team is going to have a lot of work on their hands to get him up to par. That assumes, also, that he survives.

I've said it numerous times. What I love most about his game is what's going to get him decapitated in the NFL. He's absolutely fearless. He runs like RGIII did last year. He takes big shots all the time. If you want to compare his size to Flutie, Wilson, Brees ect....that's fine. Those guys never took the shots he takes. They ran, yes, but they did it "smart". Hell, I've NEVER seen Wilson take a big shot. Dude is annoyingly good at getting down when he needs to.

Welcome to the minority Jesser. Manziel will not even be as good in the NFL as his A&M predecessor.

Biggest bust of the draft, especially if a team is silly enough to draft him in the 1st.

The 'minority' of us seem to have quite a few members.

I underestimated. I guess the minority isn't as vocal and redundant as the pro Manziel's.

"The worst arm in college football". If this isn't hyperbole, then you lost me right there. I'm not a big fan of Teddy Bridgewater (I think he's very overhyped), but I can at least be objective.

Yep.  Some people are perpetuating myths here to convince themselves that he's a bad prospect.

I wouldn't be one bit unhappy if we draft him.

Really interested in seeing how Clowney looks.

IMO I don't think I can ever remember such an overhyped player.

I watch him, and I just don't see it. Sure he makes a splash play every once in a while, but more often than not he's no where to be seen.

Is he taking the year off?

Does he not love football?

I have no interest in Clowney or Manziel

Too many red flags with Clowney

Manziel is simply to small to play that style of football

I would rather take the QB with the NFL body even if he has to sit a year behind Cassel to work on things and improve

A miniature Brett Favre is not the way to go IMO

Arm strength? LOL

Manziel 45 yards on a dime, flat footed.

I think Manziel will be every bit as good as Drew Brees another QB at 5' 10'ish

He will have to put on some bulk but remember the rules make it really hard to hit QBs all out.

I think he has a much better chance to succeed than say 10 years ago.

For that matter, Bridgewater looks really skinny.

I suspect team will want him to put on some weight.

Manziel will clearly be a polarizing figure, people will either absolutely love him or hate him as a prospect.

No comparison with Drew Brees

Brees gets rid of the ball FAST

He is not challenging LBs down field

No rules in the NFL will help Manziel with that.

I also agree about Teddy B - I thought he could have used one more year of college football and physical maturing. If I was the Vikings, I would still try to move up to #1 to take him BUT with the thought of starting him in 2015

Limited duty only in 2014

I personally don't see how he makes it out of the Top 15 with all the teams that need a QB.

Kids love to play with him, but it remains to be seen what happens when he tries to lead adults. He's also a whiny rich kid who decided he needed more cash so he sold autographs. When the frauds at the NCAA decided that's basically OK but he has to miss a snap or two, he didn't have the composure to just move on. He taunted and amplified the fact that he took money with his gesture. Pretty strong indications in just that one incident that he lacks maturity and perspective. What happens when he loses the respect of an established teammate or his coach decides he needs to do something little Johnny disagrees with?

From a distance, this looks like a good kid to avoid in the top 10

Teammates loved to play with Tebow also

Doesn't make him a NFL QB

So the qb from VaTech blows up a lb on a run, its clean. 2 plays later he gets legally crushed by a different lb, on a very legal hit and its "uneccesary roughness"?

What's this about?

The 15 yard unsportsmanlike was deserved imo. He knew damn well that ball was out a step and a half before he knocked the shit out of him. He could of easily pulled up. Obviously the message the world is trying to send isn't getting through. You can't tell me the hit was necessary. His sole intent was to punish. Hey, I don't like some of the rules and how they're enforced as much as the next guy but I get the Fn message. He didn't!

Hundley is horrible. He's still the same guy I've seen all year. Gets great protection, still panics in the pocket. Steps into sacks. Occasionally throws good passes when in perfect circumstances but otherwise inaccurate.
