Status: offline 		My Dad was always a life-long whiner about how "fake" the NFL was.
I never fully agreed with him until today, when watching the last 4 minutes of the Dallas-Aints game.
Something really weird was going on there.
You can't suddenly be THAT disjointed on defense. Single coverage on outside receivers on 4th down and 20 seconds left? Your best cover falls for one poor fake, and simply stops covering, while the receiver catches the easy toss that floats the 30 yards to him?
Something smelled about that whole thing. There was an a-ROMO of fraud in the air.

I'm not sure why they'd have them tie it up, and then lose it ... but I'm working on it......

That's the collective score of the three Seahawks games over the past 15 days, and the amazing thing Sunday night was, that was no Jacksonville or Kansas City they beat up 42-13. That was the San Francisco 49ers, who'd entered the game first in the NFL in scoring defense. Russell Wilson had the first four-touchdown-pass day of his exploding career, Marshawn Lynch rushed for 111 yards, and the Seahawks, with a crowd so loud that NBC sideline reporter Michele Tafoya had to scream into Pete Carroll's ear to be heard before the game, continued on the NFL's best three-game offensive run since 1950. (The Rams scored 163 points in three games then.)

Of all the stats on all the NFL play sheets Sunday, this seemed most amazing to me: Seattle converted 11 of 13 third downs (11 of 12, really, because the final conversion attempt was a kneeldown at the end of the game) against the team that had held Seattle to six points two months ago. The key for Seattle, of course, has been the precocious play of Wilson, who was remarkable in and out of the pocket. He doesn't scramble like a normal quarterback, or even a quick quarterback. His scrambling is totally unpredictable, and he breaks the rules that say passers should never double-back and go 12 or 15 yards behind the line to try to find a new hole. He does it all the time, fearlessly.

"Russell hasn't changed,'' Carroll said afterward. "All he has done is just won us over. We've changed, he's the same. He's more experienced now with what we're asking him to do, and he's had more reps and turns and all of that, so he's more efficient at everything. He's rock solid after this win. He's ready to go to the next game already, and that's just who he is and how he is. We're just thrilled that he's playing on our team.'' Want an example of Wilson the leader? He went to all the rookies after the game Sunday night. "We got work to do tomorrow,'' Wilson told his fellow first-year players. "Come in and get your lift in.'' Christmas Eve wouldn't influence the work schedule for Wilson. Tape analysis, 8 a.m. Lift, 10 a.m. That's what leaders do.

Status: offline 		According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, the Philadelphia Eagles will consider hiring Oregon head coach Chip Kelly to take over the Andy Reid once they move on from him after the season.

The Philadelphia Eagles will consider Chip Kelly to replace Andy Reid, according to league sources, and multiple executives with rival teams anticipate Philadelphia making a heavy push to land the Oregon head coach.

As previously reported in the space, Kelly will be a hot NFL commodity, and with possible NCAA sanctions looming over Oregon, the noted offensive mind is expected to make the jump to the NFL. The Ducks finish out their season in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl against Kansas State on Jan. 3. The Eagles won’t be the only team to contact Kelly, but league sources expect them to be among the first to try to interview him, and believe he could emerge as a quick favorite for the position. The attractiveness of the Eagles job, versus other potential opportunities on Kelly’s plate, remains to be seen. Kelly turned down Tampa Bay last offseason after effectively agreeing to take the job, and it’s not known how Philly’s fluid quarterback situation and organizational structure might factor into his interest there.

Kelly runs a very fast paced offense at Oregon and the Eagles have the speed on offense to run a similar style. They’re just going to need to find a new starting quarterback.

No, I listened to a person from Pittsburgh on the radio this morning, and he says that Big Ben clashed with the new OC Todd Haley. Ben likes to stand in there, sometimes buying time by just pushing LBers away, and then he likes to hit WRs after that. The new OC wanted him to hit the guys with more timing routes, which isn't Ben's forte, and didn't want to rely on WRs improvising if the original route didn't have them open. The commentator felt that Haley needs to work more with Ben, make more adjustments, or else he might be shown the door.

I just read an article that Tomlin should be worried about his job, and listed several replacement coaches including DCs from Cincy and Arizona, along with an exPittsburgh coach that was the interim coach with Indy, and a couple of others. I would be surprised they'd let go of Tomlin after just one bad year.

I suggested to a couple of guys Sunday afternoon, that Seattle might well represent the NFC, and they laughed at me. And one of claimed he was a big Russell Wilson fan, thought Wilson was great, but just didn't think they are a SB. That was before the Seattle game with the 49ers.

I don't know why Seattle couldn't represent the NFC. There's a good chance the Giants won't even be in the playoffs. I don't think GB is just going to get there by reputation, and I think a good blueprint for how to beat them was done by the NY Giants, 35-0 . Matt Ryan has choked a lot in the playoffs, so I don't know why Seattle couldn't go there an pull an upset in the NFC Championship game.

I think he lost the Superbowl versus the Packers a couple of years ago too. He threw several interceptions (too lazy to look it up) and made some other wretched throws that day.

That guy is Darrell Bevell. He has the Seahawks offense rolling and has helped mold Russell Wilson.

Status: offline 		Andrew Luck finished 26th in passer ratings. Griffin was 3rd and Wilson was 4th. If Luck wins the Rookie of the Year that will speak volumes of how far we have not come.

Luck is several slots BELOW Christian Ponder in passer ratings
