And yet, some will tell you ... The Twins have been willing to spend money.
SOMEONE'S gonna get a helluvan athlete/OFer.
You're right .. won't be us.
No one will ask ... why not... they'll just know it won't happen.
Cash-strapped org? Nope.
Glut of overpaid underachievers already? Nope.

Cash strapped is the excuse.

hell's bells, they're in what, the 70-80 mill range? They went over 100 mil before!

Kemp would only hurt the bottom line, as in a little less profit.

This conversation always gets me going.

Such BS coming out of TField.

Cash cow, willing to nickel and dime now, because oh, woe is us, attendance is down.

Well it is down because of the incredibly poor scouting (now allegedly trying to fix it) and a GM that actually tried a couple of things that didn't work, out, so Midas is back to rub coins together to get value from crap talent.

Wasted money on crap.

They'd be this record with Dude in the rotation all year vs Pelfrey.

They'd be this record with Meyer/May in the rotation all year vs Nolasco and Pelfrey.

The Twins don't know how to spend, so they throw it at anything "within budget" and think that appeases fans.

Apathy is setting in. Anger is fading. And the local media just nods, smiles at the accomplishment of the year, and accepts a crap product.

Perfectly said.
Point out the minor successes. (ad nauseum)
Ignore the overall poor performances.

You could probably get the Dodgers to eat a chunk of that contract.

Absolutely.

But LAD would fleece the Twins, because they'd have to give up prospects LA would actually develop into good players.

You could probably get the Dodgers to eat a big chunk of that contract -- Kemp hasn't been healthy since his MVP year and hasn't performed particularly well.

Big question would be how Kemp reacts when Buxton is ready for center.

Knew I could at least get people thinking about it .....
So sad how we just KNOW nothing big will ever happen here.
Like I said SOMEONE will get a hell of a player. Wont be us.

I bet you could get away with one or two low tier prospects. You'd have to sell it as a salary dump.

Could the Twins get away with it, though? Whole other question.

LA would want pitching, I'd think.

They develop guys. Would take position players they could flip in some other deal.

They have money, sure, but they also have a front office with a clue.

Kinda funny how our DUMB money deals are ok, but DUMB money spent on legit players who have actually produced ... are scoffed at.

Twins next front office stud

Colorado Rockies owner Dick Monfort criticized assistant general manager Bill Geivett on a radio show Wednesday.

Monfort, who made headlines last week for telling a fan Denver might not deserve a team and telling another not to come to games if he didn't like the team, singled out Geivett during an interview with KOA radio.

After defending general manager Dan O'Dowd, Monfort said Geivett is responsible for the Rockies' disappointing season. More from The Denver Post:

Monfort was asked, who is responsible for the Rockies’ 40-55 record this season, good for second-to-last place in the National League?

“You would have to say it’s Bill Geivett (Rockies assistant GM),” Monfort said. “He’s responsible for the major-league team."

The Atlanta Braves have released Dan Uggla, ending the veteran second baseman's disappointing stint in Atlanta.

Major Disappointment

Dan Uggla signed with the Braves before the 2011 season, coming off a monster season with the Marlins. However, Uggla's production declined in each season after Atlanta signed him.

Year

OPS

2014 .472
2013 .671
2012 .732
2011 .764
2010 .877

The Braves announced Uggla's release on their official Twitter account Friday, five days after suspending the slumping slugger for what manager Fredi Gonzalez called "an internal matter."

Uggla, 34, has played sparingly since rookie Tommy La Stella was promoted from Triple-A Gwinnett on May 28. The three-time All-Star is batting .162 with two homers and 10 RBIs in 48 games this season.

Atlanta has not announced a corresponding roster move for Uggla's release.

The Braves acquired Uggla in a November 2010 trade with the Miami Marlins and signed the three-time All-Star to a $62 million, five-year contract before his first game with Atlanta. He is slated to make $13 million in 2015 -- his final season under the deal.

Uggla had a 33-game hitting streak and connected for 36 homers in his first season with the Braves, but most of his numbers have been trending down the past couple of years. He hit just .179 with 22 homers and 171 strikeouts in 2013, when Atlanta won the NL East and lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the division series.

Angels deal minor leaguer for proven closer Houston Street.......

Pads get a Hi-A SS hitting over .300, team's 12th best prospect.

Amazing night in Oakland
The rematch of the Donaldson/Machado feud ....
Looks like Machado gets the last laugh, with a huge 7th inning Homer.
Nope ... Donaldson walks it off in extras.
DRAMA! Pretty cool.

Cardinals are "in" on David Price.

That actually means something, compared to when the Twins are "in" on players.

Right now the only thing the Twins are "in"

Is the crapper.

When the Cardinals "kick the tires", they also check under the hood.

Twins "kick the tires" and read the sticker price and tell their fans they were in on an effort to get said player.

Cards will get Price.

Cards will win the Central NL.

Could be a great battle in that division.

STL has outfielders that can help a team.

Twins have prospects 2 years away they want to use, but the manager has no patience for mistakes they make.

Yesterdays site snafu saved y'all a long rant from me on the Rasmus/Lewis debacle re: the bunt ... during a shift .... in a game that was like 2-1 ....
Unreal.
The stupidity of some of these rich pricks kills me.
Lewis is telling us Rasmus shouldn't be laying down a bunt FOR A HIT, and there's people agreeing with him.
Sigh. I may need to grow a beard and move somewhere the only "net" is used for fishing, or to keep the mosquitoes at bay.
Lewis doesn't have any teammates or management saying .... "shut the hell up, dude, you're making a fool of yourself" ??? Really?

I heard Fox Sports Radio go off on him too. What an idiot.

And guess who had him high on their off-season wish list before he got hurt.

Your Minnesota Twins!

And I thought McCann was being ridiculous last year. This might be the dumbest breaking of an "unwritten rule" in the history of baseball.

If that's an "unwritten rule" to bunt against the shift with 2 outs,

Then there are some real idiots making the rules.

Colby is just pissed that his first name isn't unique.

Even though it should be.

Colby....does that sound like a kid that grew up in the rough part of town learning to street fight?

Or the kid who wore knickers to violin practice.
