This is the best way to handle this mess, imo ....

ST. LOUIS -- Mark McGwire was emotional and regretful as he sat in the visiting dugout at Busch Stadium Monday night after Major League Baseball suspended 13 players, including Alex Rodriguez, for using performance-enhancing drugs.
"I wish I was never a part of it," McGwire said. "Just get rid of it. If it's better to have bigger suspensions, then they're going to have to change it."

McGwire was one of the most prominent figures of baseball's "steroids era" and has admitted he used steroids when he broke baseball's home run record in 1998.
"I wish there were things in place earlier," McGwire said. "They were put in in 2003 I think. I just really hope and pray that this is the end of it. Everybody, especially the players, don't want any more part of it and I hope this is the end of it. ... I wish I was never part of it."
McGwire finally admitted to using steroids in 2010 before he became the hitting coach of the St. Louis Cardinals. He took over as the Los Angeles Dodgers hitting coach this season and said he has talked to players over the years about the harm that performance-enhancing drugs can cause.
"It's not worth it at all," McGwire said.
McGwire said he wasn't sure if the suspensions were too harsh or not harsh enough but was happy to see MLB finally cracking down on performance-enhancing drugs.
"It doesn't matter what I think, I think it matters what the players think and from what I hear every day in the clubhouse they're just happy it's coming to an end," McGwire said. "They're happy that Major League Baseball is taking care of it and we can move forward. Hopefully this will be the end of it."
Another change over the past 15 years has been the number of players that have come out against PED users and the fact that the player's union is advocating better testing for performance-enhancing drugs.
"That's good, I think it's really good," McGwire said. "I think (Evan) Longoria said it was one of the saddest days in baseball. It is. It's really bad. I just hope it's over with and we don't have to sit here and talk about this anymore. I just pray and hope that it is."
Asked if the dark clouds of steroids that have hung over the game since he was a player are close to finally leaving, he smiled.
"I hope so," he said. "I really hope so."

Figured Bill Simmons and Jacko would put the Arod mess into perspective.

If you want to hear how most NY fans feel about this clown listen to Jacko.
Great podcast

Former major league star Dave Parker told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review he has been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, a degenerative disorder of the central nervous system.

“There's no fear,” Parker told the newspaper. “I've had a great life. I always dreamt of playing baseball, and I played. I'm 62 years old and fortunate to make it to this point. I have some beautiful kids that I got to watch grow up and become adults. My fingerprints are on the baseball industry. I feel good about that. I have nothing to feel bad about.”

Bosox hang 15 on the Astros tonight
Yanks drop another one. Expecting that, with ARods return.

Great interview today on PTI with Donny the Bat Mattingly of the Dodgers.
"how did you feel during that rough stretch earlier, when there was talk of firing you?"

"Umm, I felt like a guy that was going to be fired"

14 years of doing his thing. No postseason til the very end. A boss that got upset when he tied Dale Long's consecutive HR record.
Played the game the right way. Clark, Hernandez, Grace, Palmeiro, yes even Hrbek, I take Mattingly.

Personally, I'd give him a little longer to prove/dis prove himself. Where the haters now? Mattingly almost fired, Gardenhire negotiating his extension. Makes perfect sense.

If his team doesn't win a post series, he still might be fired. Yeah, high standards. That's weird.

How did A-fraud and his attorney talk the Skanks into that ridiculous contract for an aging player? I mean it is even more than mind-boggling stupidity on the part of the Skankees FO.

And as impressive as that streak is...it will most likely come to a screeching halt this afternoon.

That Ibanez throw would actually impress Ben Revere. At least the ball had some air under it.

2:45pm: The Rangers are the team that claimed (Alex) Rios, according to Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News (on Twitter). Grant cautions that claiming Rios and actually striking a deal to acquire the 32-year-old are very different things.

Saw that....I would say he is done, but then again,
a playoff contender might just take a chance on him.
What kind of money did he make this year?

Cheap contract. Teams passed, he took what he could get.

The kid from Creighton is ripping dingers all over the place for Philly. Ruf, i believe.

Well, nobody in the NL will touch him.  I don't see him getting a job this season.  He may get a ST invite from someone if he cleans up his act.

It only takes one idiot.

Is this Dodgers thing viewed as incredibly awesome and legendary as it's starting to be viewed in Los Angeles? I'm not the biggest baseball fan and I certainly won't suddenly start coming here showing my undying love for the Blue. But, I'm just curious as to how other baseball fans across the country are seeing this.

If 400M doesn't buy winning a team, not sure what would!
