The starting AL lineup are all RH
Very odd.

Very. It should be a fantastic competition. Fielder may get a major advantage on distance (the bonus points), but Joc's also hit a lot of bombs this year. Should be a really great competition. Been probably since McGwire/Griffey days when I've been this excited for one.

Edit: and I guess we should remember that they're swinging in the best HR park in the majors. That also may give Frazier a bit of an advantage (ie knows where to hit it, should have the crowd behind him, etc.).

Donaldson tops him with nine. With a long of 465.

Fielder is just nuts. His power is crazy. In Nashville there's a hot tub deck in RF and then a street behind it. He would regularly hit them across the street.

Very impressive from Frazier. These guys better enjoy it. Because Sano's taking the next 5-10 of these.

The game is in such a phenomenal place right now, talent-wise. Just have to fix the marketing.

Nice job with the HR derby changes. Too bad it couldn't have happened a year earlier.

Really great derby. Was rooting for Joc, but three pretty incredible guys at the end in Frazier/Joc/Pujols. Coolest part for me was seeing the joy and love of Champ Pederson and Pujols together. Champ was actually rooting for his favorite player, Albert, not his brother.

Look at the derby today. No Trout, Harper, Stanton, Sano, Gallo, Miggy, etc. And still INCREDIBLE. What a great state of the game today. And a really great/exciting derby. Best in many, many years. Kudos to MLB on the changes. Manfred's going to be good for the sport IMO.

Agreed Skilz and Chris
Much better watch
The young talent at this point is ridiculous.
Beautiful swings, great looking athletes.

What's the point of a home run derby anyway.

It should be a doubles derby. They're better after all.

I saw the semis and finals. I agree it was much improved over previous seasons. Sure, this will probably get old after several years - but stick with it for now. Clocks in baseball bother me, but for something like this it does make sense.

I'm not a big Berman guy, but I actually think he works for the HR derby. Fits his skillset IMO.

Find myself completely tuning him out.
I enjoy Boone. The others can depart with Mr Self Important. IMO.
The "who's pitching" dynamic is always kind of interesting.

No doubt the pitching is a huge factor, maybe even moreso in the timed format.

As bad as Berman was, I about died listening to that duo that was "calling" the softball game".

Ugh

Jennie Finch pitching did make up for it. Got a kick out of the one fastpitch she threw to Vlad.

In our house, when Berman is on, regardless of what event it is, out come the imitations of the ESPN Game Day guys.

William has several of the guys down pretty good.

His Tom Jackson bit is a hoot.
