That year was eerily reminiscent to this one.
Fresh young guys coming up that we had high hopes for ... unexpected success into September.
The rest is history. If that plays out again ... I likey.

It was weird to see Puckett's and Gaetii's OPS both below .700.

? to berardino was if Jepsen was FA at the end/year

5-plus arb eligible. All these saves are pushing his likely number north of $5 million

Garza refused to pitch out of the bullpen, so they weren't using him at all (he's not in the rotation either). Nice way to pick up a paycheck.

Murf, I decided to take your lead and watch a Ben Revere at bat tonigh. He struck outhe quite pathetically. He turned out better than some 1st rounders. But his OK batting average has overvalued him. The dude can't hit for power or take a walk. Also does not steal a base like you'd think he should. He is just not very good. Low ceiling. Poor 1st round selection.

Korean outfielder Ah-Seop Son plans to enter the posting system this offseason, sources told Yahoo Sports, paving the way for his arrival in Major League Baseball next year and continuing the expected infusion of Korean position players after the success of Pittsburgh infielder Jung-Ho Kang this season.

Son, 27, is a left-handed hitting, right-handed throwing corner outfielder whose forte is more hitting for a high average and getting on base than the power-hitting Kang. The 5-foot-9, 190-pound Son has hit better than .300 for six consecutive seasons with the Lotte Giants of the Korean Baseball Organization.
His best season came in 2014, when he batted .362/.456/.538 and won a fourth consecutive Gold Glove, which is given to the best overall player at his position in the KBO. This year, Son is hitting .324/.412/.476 and shows enough power to quell concerns he’s simply a slap hitter.

Thankfully, MN has enough OF talent to not go after this slappy. And he will be a slappy in MLB.

Rondon is gonna Loooove Gardy next year, if Ausmus has had enough

We've reached the point in the baseball season where, if you play on a bad team, it can be tough to get motivated for games. This concept isn't anything new. When a club is bad, players may quit on their manager, and start giving less than optimal effort during games. It can lead to some toxic situations, and renders games unwatchable, but it does happen.

That said, we've never seen anything like this before.

The Detroit Tigers sent closer Bruce Rondon home for the rest of the season due to his "effort level." That's something! Manager Brad Ausmus didn't elaborate much on his reasons for the move, but catcher Alex Avila added some insight to the situation.

Alex Avila on #Tigers sending Bruce Rondon home for rest of season: "To be a big component of the team, you've got to be here, on the team."

Alex Avila on Bruce Rondon being sent home from #Tigers: "You want to put out your best effort everyday. No matter the situation."

And Wade Davis, no longer dominant 8th inning guy. Yost has made him his closer.

Gardy will give him a clever nickname in ST and all problems will be solved.

If a MiLBer not on the 40man got called up to the big leagues three days ago, he's just made more money than he did all MiLB season

6 members of the Biloxi Shuckers were called up to the #Brewers today after losing to @ChattLookouts.

"They were stacked," Kepler said.

Love ya Yogi. One of the reasons I like the Yankees.

Great night in baseball. The clicker was hot last night.
Great game in Toronto. That Bird kid that killed us, is still killing others. Kid can rake.
Torontos too cocky. Houstons too cocky. Nice win for the Angels, but ....
I don't ever want to pull for Huston Street to close a game, again, ever, please. Sheesh us.
And we think we have closer issues at times.
Kris Bryant hits his 26th. Arrieta keeps rolling.

A lot of good pitching numbers in the NL

Arrieta deserves Cy Young consideration.

I am hoping MN 8th and 9th will be handled in situation matchups. Perkins doesn't have to face the tough RH batters just because "he's the closer". J
Somewhat amazingly(to me anyway) Jepsen has stepped it up far past what I expected.

Tito was too conservative in the 8th. Thankfully

Love the Rondon move.
More need to be given wake-up calls.

Rip yogi.
A MUCH better player than most will ever realize.

Never struck out more than 38 times in any year.
Caught both games of double headers 117 times. 117 times.
Five different seasons, he hit more homers than he struck out.
Oswaldo ARCIA struck out more in one 4-game stretch than Yogi did one entire season.
I call Posey THE catcher of my life, yet Yogis got his numbers tripled.
Longevity, leadership, humility, passion, and talent.
If you've never seen the feature where they show Ron Guidry chauffeuring Yogi around to ST games, find it.
Touching, and shows the class and tradition of that franchise.
