The Pirates routed the Rockies 13-7 to become the second team to clinch a playoff berth. It's the third consecutive year they've earned a postseason berth on September 23

I don't get this......The kid has reinvented himself as a pitcher not once but I think three times after arm trouble. Did you ever read about his wife and the child they had? The child that died 23 hours after birth.

Actually, I am on the side of the Mrs. Perkins bashers......I think that as a pseudo celebrity herself, Mrs. Perkins needs to focus on writing about running and keep her mouth shut regarding "defending" her husband.

Or move to the Yanks or Red Sox and see what really fan abuse is all about.

Nah, I guess I'll retract that statement. I'm fine with the guy. I was just perturbed that he banned me from his blog because I ripped Gardy for abusing the bullpen. Banning me for that........I thought Pat took himself a little too seriously. I was always respectful on his blog and very complimentary of him, then I rip Gardy and bam, just like that he banned me!

Worn-out closer

Greg Holland will not pitch again in 2015, the Royals announce.

Holland has a “significant” tear in his UCL, according to manager Ned Yost (via McCullough). Tommy John surgery is the likely course of action. Yost now believes Holland tore the ligament last August, meaning he pitched last September and the postseason as well as all of 2015 with a tear in the ligament.

The Red Sox have filled their general manager vacancy from within, as the team announced today that assistant GM Mike Hazen will be promoted to the role of general manager to replace the departed Ben Cherington. Hazen, of course, will report to recently hired president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski.

We all love these "hey, we got an awesome 7th inning, 8th inning, 9th inning guy" .... Type teams, but relying on those three relievers
to last all year gets more unrealistic all the time.
This is huge. It changes their plan of attack.
They only count on their starters to go five or six. Every weapon of theirs you take away will hurt them.
And those three guys are the best part of their team most nights, IMO.

Plus, one of the arms they were using?

Traded in the Cueto deal.

Yost has over-used that bullpen. Not surprising the results.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Kansas City Royals clinched the AL Central for their first division title in 30 years, beating the Seattle Mariners 10-4 Thursday night.

I had forgotten they hadn't even won the stupid division yet.
Makes their better-than-everyone attitudes seem even more ridiculous.

Angels and Mariners tied at 2 in the ninth.
Took an incredible Trout catch to keep it that way.

I've watched that catch a half-dozen more times, and it gets better each time.

Look elsewhere for an opp, Captain Ronnie

So much for the rumors that former Twins skipper Ron Gardenhire was in line to be Detroit's next manager. New Tigers general manager Al Avila announced Saturday that Brad Ausmus will return in 2016.
