I feel the anticipation!
I see us as a 8-8 team though. Very tough schedule.
I sure hope I'm wrong.

Agreed.  Tough schedule and I think they played a bit over their heads last year.  I like where the team is going -- building for long term consistent success, not a one year run -- but I doubt they can pull off what they did last year again.

The Red Sox beards are atrocious. Napoli and Gomes are hideous anyway, this just makes it worse.

Theyre trying to recreate that whole atmosphere that worked for them back in 2004
Cant stand them again.
Awesome offensively. They wear pitching staffs OUT

Yeah, but he's a terrible player, Ed ......
yes, he had crappy results here a lot.
the Os are a relevant team, and they obviously like what he offers.
maybe its how you use him ... and how you treat him ....

I thought MN had all this money to spend

Guerrero signed w/Dodgers, who have infielders already:
If the rumored price tag of $32mm for Guerrero is accurate, it's not really surprising the #MNTwins bowed out.

The Dodgers and Cuban infield prospect Alexander Guerrero are closing in a multi-year deal worth $32MM, industry sources tell Jesse Sanchez of MLB.com. The deal is expected to be between five and seven years and an official announcement is expected this week.

Guerrero probably projects as a second baseman in the majors since his range and first-step quickness aren't strong enough to stick at shortstop, according to Ben Badler of Baseball America (subscription required). The offensive-oriented infielder doesn't figure to be a premium talent, but his raw right-handed power has impressed clubs.

The Twins, Red Sox, and Braves have also been in the mix for Guerrero, but the Dodgers have long been the favorites to sign him. The 26-year-old also garnered interest from the Reds along the way, but it's not clear how serious they were or if they were still in the mix towards the end.

In his final season in Cuba, Guerrero hit .290/.402/.576 with 21 home runs in 328 plate appearances for Las Tunas. For the last five seasons, Guerrero has posted solid offensive numbers, though the Cuban league is known for inflated offensive numbers. Badler says that Guerrero is likely ticketed for Double-A or Triple-A to start out.

With a 400M payroll already, what's another 5M for another rookie!

Wladimir Balentien hit his 55th home run of the season for the Yakult Swallows on Wednesday night, tying Japan’s single-season home run mark set by the legendary Sadaharu Oh in 1964, and tied by American Tuffy Rhodes in 2001 and Venezuelan Alex Cabrera in ’02. With 22 games remaining on the Swallows schedule, Balentien seems like a lock to finally break what is still largely considered Oh’s record.

However, this chase is also somewhat tainted as Nippon Professional Baseball secretly introduced a livelier ball this season, a fact which came to light in June.

3 singles for Morneau today.

Just like that, his average jumps back to .290 with the Pirates.

Good OFFENSIVE battle in TX,after Burnett did well early on, the 2 teams slugging it out, PITT up 7-5.

With the roster they have, should be in the AL. Lots of DH plodder types.

maybe they can switch with teh Twins, who seem to want to play small ball "used to be" NL rules.
