O's sweep the Royals
Shields shelled in Chisox debut.
Giants and Bosox split, Yanks getting well in Cali.

Wasn't big enough of a game for Shields

Boo'ed off the field in ChiTown.
Lustily.
The Cinderella story there is fading fast.
Surprised to see the Central standings.
Everyones scuffling. Royales have dropped 7 straight.
We are sitting there 14 games back ... should be about 30.

Yet an 18-40 team barely gets boo'd

hard core fans are po'd as Reusse noted.

And many choose not to go.

heck if you boo, they may kick you out. Can't bring mean-spirited posters, can't wear bags over your head.

Probably. I saw him after the game walking on the plaza. Not inside the stadium....errrr...ballpark. Hi, my name is Dick Bremer.

Parmelee with 2 HR's and a double in his Yankee debut.

Why does this stuff happen? Parmalee could go another month before he hits his third HR.

Same thing happened basically in BALT last year. First few games, he was Superman.

As time wore on, each pitch became kryptonite.

White Sox DFA Matt Latos
Dating back to April 30, Latos has a 7.25 ERA with nearly as many walks (18) as strikeouts (19).

The Phillies have informed Peter Bourjos that he is now a bench player, as Matt Gelb of the Philadelphia Inquirer writes. Manager Pete Mackanin called the situation “unfortunate” and noted that Bourjos “has got to make a drastic change in his approach offensively.” Mackanin stressed that he “loves” Bourjos’ defensive work, but the 29-year-old’s .195/.226/.282 batting line and near-28 percent strikeout rate aren’t cutting it in the lineup.

The White Sox have signed veteran first baseman Justin Morneau, the club announced. It’s a one-year, $1MM contract.

Morneau will head straight onto the 15-day DL as he continues to work back to form after undergoing elbow surgery. His timeline remains unclear at present, but perhaps the club will have a chance to evaluate him before weighing other moves at the trade deadline.

Chris Parmelee waited a decade for a night like Wednesday, for a moment that so many players he knows will never experience. After Thursday night, his moment will have to wait longer. Shortly after strengthening his case as starting first baseman by driving in the Yankees’ first run with an opposite-field single, Parmelee was hobbling off the field with an injured right hamstring. Manager Joe Girardi said he would be “completely shocked” if Parmelee wasn’t placed on the disabled list

Sox also making more moves

The White Sox announced today that they have promoted top shortstop prospect Tim Anderson to the Majors and designated struggling veteran Jimmy Rollins for assignment in order to clear space on the roster.

Anderson, a first-round pick of the White Sox in 2013 (No. 17 overall), is batting .304/.325/.409 with four homers and 11 steals through his first 55 games at the Triple-A level this season. He’ll presumably get a chance to replace Rollins as the team’s everyday shortstop, with defensive standout Tyler Saladino representing a fallback option in the event that Anderson is overmatched by Major League pitching.
