Ramos has had a really nice season
I sell the farm to get hm back

He's had a really bad month at the plate.

Leaders don't have bad months.

For those who think no one in baseball SLUMPS

Sign o' the times: With two outs and a man on 2nd in the 6th inning of a scoreless tie, the Mets just intentionally walked Daniel Murphy to get to Bryce Harper. For the record, Harper struck out looking.

Walking people to GET to Bryce Harper.
Yeah, that guy who was the greatest of all time a couple months ago.
ITS A LONG SEASON

Yep, Bryce whose April suggested that he was gonna push Mike Trout off the mantle as the best positional player in baseball.

Mike has quietly posted a slash of .319/ .435/ .561/ .996 ops+ = 173

with 110 runs 30 doubles 4 triples 27 HR's and 89 rbi's.

Bryce has a nice slash of .247 / .380 / .455 / .835 and ops+ = 120 with 24 HRs and 81 rbis.

But he isn't Mike Trout.

And here I thought Byron Buxton was the next Trout.

Unreal year for Big Papi
Wonder how many times he's been tested?
Like .... The league would tarnish him. Yeah, right.
(I was letting it go, until his latest mouthing off to a heckler in Baltimore)
Enjoy your preferred status, David, and leave quietly please.
Everyone wants to beat up the other cheaters in the town square, but him, we're supposed to love I guess.

And in six years he'll be the first modern cheater in the Hall, because he's Papi.

Personally, I prefer Sanchez.

43 games, 19 HR, 38 RBI (they do not matter) Slg.747 Obp.406

Dozier stole some of his thunder. Deservedly so, but Sanchez has been unreal.

No talk of cheap, short porch Home Runs with this guy. He's launching them straight out of CF.

Amazing that the Stros have re-entered the playoff picture
I seem to remember Hotdish chuckling about them when they were scuffling
Some of these orgs have really figured things out long term

The Orioles' Mark Trumbo hit his 45th home run of the season. Entering today, Trumbo had 1.2 WAR and a 115 OPS+. Before this season, the lowest WAR by a 45-HR hitter was 1.5 by Jose Canseco in 1998, and the lowest OPS+ was 114 by Canseco, in that season. In other words, Trumbo's home runs are carrying almost all of his value as a player.

Wow. Shocker in Miami. Pitcher Jose Fernandez was killed in a boating accident.

Jose Fernandez, 24, was one of three people killed in a boat crash off Miami Beach early Sunday morning. The Marlins' game today has been canceled.
Fernandez, one of the best young players in baseball, was one of three people killed in the crash. The boat crashed into rocks and was found capsized by search and rescue teams around 3 a.m. The three victims were found dead when authorities arrived on the scene. Two victims were under the boat and one was on the rocks. None of them were wearing life vests.

Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be a factor in the crash.

The identities of the other victims have not been released but the other two men are believed to be friends of Fernandez.

The boat had previously traveled in the area of the jetty and several Marlins players had previously been on the boat.

“The Miami Marlins organization is devastated by the tragic loss of Jose Fernandez,” the team said in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this very difficult time.”

Fernandez was an All-Star as a 20-year-old rookie in 2013 and named National League Rookie of the Year, after jumping straight to the majors from High-A. He missed most of the 2014 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery but returned to form in 2015. He was named to his second All-Star team this season.

When Fernandez defected from Cuba by boat as a teenager, his mother fell overboard and Fernandez jumped in to save her. She grabbed onto his back and Fernandez paddled back to the boat with one arm.

Fernandez announced last week that he and his girlfriend were expecting a child.

Driving the boat at high speed at night in the dark. REally makes no sense. Sounds like he wasn't at the helm or wheel.

Pretty cool, Mets catcher said it affected him as well.

Travis d'Arnaud said he was crying behind the plate too when Dee Gordon homered and then crossed the plate in tears.
