That moment and warning track power are the only two things I remember about old George.

One of my favorite plays in history happened yesterday, way back in 1976.
Any ideas?
Didn't have much to do with baseball, but happened on a baseball field.
Rick Monday was the MAN.

Ichiro retires. Will join Mariners FO for remainder of the 2018 season. 3089 MLB hits. 4367 hits total in Japan and America.

From 2001 to 2010, he had over 200 hits each season totaling 2244 hits in 10 years. WOW

I'm confused. Apparently he is not retiring from playing baseball. But he will not play again in 2018. Is he hurt? The article says he will play again in 2019.

Couldn't agree more. He did more for MLB, than MLB did for him. Not many can say that.

Loved watching him field and throw a baseball. So fundamentally sound. Always put himself in position to make the strong, accurate throw. Of course, it doesn't hurt to have a cannon.

The cat was the ultimate professional. Took pride in his craft, worked as hard as anybody. A cool customer, and cocky. Yes, it's okay to be cocky, it puts extra pressure on yourself. Some guys don't want that. Be cocky, then live up to it.

And then there are the stories... in house HR derbies in Seattle, very similar to Boggs, he crushed his teammates in those contests.

Learned Spanish (after English) not just to embrace and communicate with his teammates, but to be able to talk smack to middle infielders after taking 2nd base.

I count myself lucky to have watched him play.

Hard for a Yankee fan to complain right now, winning 13 of their last 15, but Sanchez needs to lose some weight.
I thought stripes were supposed to be slimming.

Being winded after your HR trot is not a good thing.

Painful loss for Indians fans at Fake Yankee Stadium last night. We've been in the same situation so many times, I feel sympathy for them.

Misplay by Cain results in inside-the-park HR, likely costing the Brewers a win vs the Pirates.

Soler is a stud. Great job by the Royals front office to acquire him in the Wade Davis trade.

Oops.

Mariners star Robinson Cano is facing an eighty-game suspension for PED usage, according to reports from Hector Gomez of Deportivo Z 101 (via Twitter) and Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic (Twitter link). An announcement has yet to be made but may be issued today.

Good thing he was already out with a broken hand which occurred the other day. Just be a longer time out

Another tainted star. That will hurt his HOF candidacy bigtime.

Joe Mauer - no PED stains.

During Sunday’s game against the Detroit Tigers, Cano was batting when a pitch from Blaine Hardy hit his right hand and broke one of his fingers. He’s been placed on the disabled list and is expected to be out for an extended period of time, though the Mariners have yet to release a timetable for his return. Cano will be able to serve his 80-game suspension while he’s on the DL. Over 39 games this season, Cano is batting .287/.385/.441 with four home runs and 10 doubles.

That's BS. Serve the suspension while on the DL???

They were delaying this announcement until he happened to break his hand.

Just the old PEE stains Gardy made sure they all had in the playoffs, or any time they went to NY

Here's what will happen. Bonds and Clemens will both get into the HOF their last year on the ballot. Which will clear the path for Ortiz to get in 1st or 2nd year on the ballot. By the time Cano is on the ballot, he won't have any issues....he'll get in Year 1 or 2.

Cano has been roiding and masking his entire career. Luckily this masking agent was finally caught.

He was a NOBODY when he came up with the Yankees. A punchline. An awful player. I've been suspicious of his meteoric rise for many years.

Maybe MLB should take away the Yankees WS title of 2009 since Cano was their best player?

For a little while he threw hard and lived in NY.
So a Mets-starved base had its hero.

His first 3 years ( 4 with the injury) he was very good and very young.
A lot of reason for optimism.
Then coming back, he was given time to come back post injury, very acceptable leeway.

Then he just sucked.
I think he was desrevinb of the praise that was given.
