ORIGINAL: SoMnFan Sad to see Ichiro hang em up Dude was as good as ANYONE, imo. Couldn't agree more. He did more for MLB, than MLB did for him. Not many can say that. Loved watching him field and throw a baseball. So fundamentally sound. Always put himself in position to make the strong, accurate throw. Of course, it doesn't hurt to have a cannon. The cat was the ultimate professional. Took pride in his craft, worked as hard as anybody. A cool customer, and cocky. Yes, it's okay to be cocky, it puts extra pressure on yourself. Some guys don't want that. Be cocky, then live up to it. And then there are the stories... in house HR derbies in Seattle, very similar to Boggs, he crushed his teammates in those contests. Learned Spanish (after English) not just to embrace and communicate with his teammates, but to be able to talk smack to middle infielders after taking 2nd base. I count myself lucky to have watched him play.
