deGrom ….. 14 Ks, and a homer
We don't need no stinkin DH …...

Twins get him next week

Wheeeeeee

Will be interesting to see this teams reaction to stressful places and high end players.
Will they pee themselves like Twins of the past?
I'm assuming there's more Maddon in Rocco than there is Gardy.

If one can finally clone humans, why would anyone clone Gardy other than a sadistic, sick, deranged scientist.

Red Sox outfielders Bradley and Betts just did an "I got it, you take it" letting a ball fall in between them.

If you get a chance to see Tampa Bay Charlie Blackmon pitch, do it.
Insane movement. Tampa has great pitching again.

Crazy how some teams figure it out.
While just as many others never get it.

BALTIMORE -- Orioles first baseman Chris Davis is nearing a record streak for futility.
Davis was 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in Sunday's 15-3 loss to the New York Yankees. He is 0-for-23 with 13 strikeouts this season and is hitless in 44 at-bats since a second-inning double off James Shields of the Chicago White Sox last Sept. 14.

Davis is two shy of the record for consecutive hitless at-bats by a position player, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Eugenio Velez went hitless in his final 46 at-bats of the 2011 season, one more than the previous mark shared by Bill Bergen of Pittsburgh (1909), Dave Campbell of San Diego and St. Louis (1973) and Craig Counsell of Milwaukee (earlier in 2011).

Would hate to be an O's fan. Doesn't even seem like they're trying in that division.

Dallas Keuchel’s asking price may be dropping

Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports hears that free agent left-hander Dallas Keuchel may be lowering his asking price in hopes of finding a major-league deal, per a report on Saturday. Rosenthal cites a source that believes Keuchel is looking for a one-year deal above the $17.9 million qualifying offer he rejected from the Astros last fall, though he’s still open to a long-term contract at lower terms than the original $150-200 million deal he was seeking over a six- or seven-year span.
Now that the season is underway, the 31-year-old hurler has been tossing 95-pitch simulated games every five days in order to prepare for his next gig. He rounded out a seven-year stint with the Astros in 2018 and pitched to a 12-11 record in 34 starts with a 3.74 ERA, 2.6 BB/9, 6.7 SO/9, and 3.3 fWAR across 204 2/3 innings.
Even given Keuchel’s solid track record, it’s not clear if any teams are prepared to make offers within the parameters the pitcher (and agent Scott Boras) have set. The Padres were linked to Keuchel as recently as last weekend, but have reportedly balked at his asking price and don’t seem to be closing in on a formal agreement. The Mets and Brewers have also been mentioned as potential suitors for the southpaw, though no substantial progress appears to have been made in the last week or so.

Donald Trump Cancels Deal Allowing MLB Teams to Sign Cuban Players
Rob Goldberg
April 8, 2019

Players of Cuba's Los Leneros de las Tunas and Venezuela's Cardenales de Lara play in the Caribbean Series baseball tournament at Rod Carew stadium in Panama City, Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019.

President Donald Trump and his administration have decided to cancel a December deal that would have allowed MLB teams to sign Cuban players, according to the Washington Post.

The White House argued that the Cuban Baseball Federation was part of the Cuban government, which caused the deal to be nullified because trade with Cuba is currently banned.

The initial deal, which was expected to run through October 2021, allowed Cuban players to sign with clubs under similar rules as other international players from Japan and South Korea.

Players who were over 25 years old would be free to sign with organizations that paid a "release fee" to the Cuban club. Other players could sign minor league deals.

Tony Clark, executive director for the MLB Players Association, said in December the goal was to create a "safe, legal process for entry to our system" instead of defecting to the country while potentially using traffickers, per David K. Li and Mary Murray of NBC Sports.

The U.S. Department of Treasury signed off on the deal at the time.

However, the Trump administration has now decided that the baseball federation is too closely aligned with the Cuban sports ministry. This is a change from the Barack Obama-era policy that decided the two were separate.

"Major League Baseball has been informed of the dangers of dealing with Cuba," a senior administration official said, per Carol E. Lee and Josh Lederman of NBC Sports.

Cuba has produced several notable players in recent years, including Aroldis Chapman, Yasiel Puig and Yoenis Cespedes. However, the new policy would have created more opportunities for younger players and allowed them to avoid the sometimes dangerous and costly process of defecting.

MLB teams were given a list of 34 eligible players from Cuba earlier this month.

Why is our President involving himself in the inner workings of MLB?

It's not like these players wont still end up here. They do just like their predecessors and defect to another country instead which is more dangerous to them.

Oh. I get it. They have Brown skin and speak Spanish.

Now I get why he hates them.

It's very simple. The MLB / Cuba pact was worked out under policies implemented by President Obama. Trump simply can't let that stand.

Well that, and they are all darker in skin tone and speak Spanish. He can't make their entry into the US easy.

"Two Hit Whit" Merrifield
Continues to be what I consider the most consistent hitter in the AL. He now has a 30 game hitting streak
going which ties some guy named George Brett for the Royals team record.

He led all baseball in hits last year.
