SMF can join me as an A's fanboy. Chris Herrmann is their catcher. Grossman leading off and playing outfield, Herrmann catching and hitting 8th or 9th. Solid.

Aaron Hicks has escaped the short round shadow of Gardy

Four months have passed, but one New York Yankees outfielder is still bugged by a playoff loss that sent his team to an early exit last fall.
"I'm still not over it," Yankees center fielder Aaron Hicks said Saturday. "I'm not over it until we win."

Hicks made the comments during the middle of the Yankees' spring training opener at the Boston Red Sox's JetBlue Park after being asked how long it took him to get over the American League Division Series defeat.
Although Saturday's game was an exhibition that featured only one of Boston's regular players -- Rafael Devers -- it was the first between the two clubs since Boston's series-clinching 4-3 win in the Bronx in Game 4 of the ALDS in October.
A couple of weeks later, the Red Sox won their ninth World Series.

Still loving that Aaron Hicks trade.

Good job Twins

The Yankees and center fielder Aaron Hicks are in agreement on a seven-year contract extension that will guarantee Hicks a total of $70MM

No need for 5 tool players.

Could have actually had a bargaining chip or 2 to trade for pitching.

But then again, Hicks was doomed in MN, given the "coaching" he got.

Twins rushed Aaron Hicks to the majors, skipping Triple-A, failed to help him develop even a little bit, criticized his work ethic publicly, gave up on him at age 25, and traded him for a backup catcher who played just 26 games for them. The end of the Terry Ryan regime was wild.

Aaron Gleeman@AaronGleeman
Aaron Hicks:
Double-A and Triple-A — .383 OBP, .464 SLG
2017-18 with Yankees — .368 OBP, .470 SLG

Traded away by the Twins at age 25 for a weak-hitting backup catcher, Hicks turned into exactly the type of impact player he was supposed to become.

Wow! Talk about a once promising career in free fall, Matt Wieters just signed a minor league deal with the Cardinals. He is hoping to compete for the back up catching job.

Harper's Phillies contract:

Harper's deal is for 13 years and $330 million and features no opt-out clauses

WOW!

13 years of commitment. Average of 25+ million per year but contract isn't structured with an equal amount for the duration.

And we thought Mauer's 8 yr contact was long.

Phillies are all in to win. We shall see if it works.

Dodgers reportedly offered 45 mill A YEAR for 4 years

Nats offer reportedly was Bonilla-like, with payments into early 60s.

Harper signs

Philly sells 100,000 tickets in 24 hours

Funny how that works.

And they're calling this a FRIENDLY deal, so they can go get "local" guy

TROUT

when he's a FA

Yankees didn't coddle him. Expected him to produce.

Quite frankly, I was hoping they could land Rosario too.

It's been talked about before

But this really is pathetic

Salary for players not on the 40, or FA's.
Rooke-level: $1150 a month
Low-A: $1300 a month
Adanced-A: $1500 a month
Double-A: $1700 a month
Triple-A: $2150 a month.

They get no room-and-board. Per Diem is $25 a day (only for road games). They owe clubhouse dues every day, too.

Is it any wonder guys try to cheat to get to the bigs?

Just disturbing how crappy that is.

And I'll put some of that on the veterans that think they need 20 million/year or more too

How about some sort of agreement that a % of the salary proposed goes to taking care of the minors?

EXTREMELY disturbing
Typical situation in this country, where the wealth is at the top, and the rest of you be damned.
A couple of the big boys salaries, sprinkled amongst ALL these guys .... would change the entire outlook of the all-so-important developmental leagues.
Pathetic, really.
