It is too soon to make a decision. We don't technically have a problem as of today. Thus far Rosario has played no baseball this year.

If he makes a strong push when he comes back THEN you start the process. Frankly, I would trade Dozier in a heartbeat if Rosario rakes. Dozier is 27 and we're still wondering what he really is

I'm more in that boat, but Dozier has at least made me consider the opposite. I still am high on Rosario. He just needs to stop getting "high" himself.

'
The Twins might see "character issues" with Rosario. Dozier is a centered kid and he seems to really love the Twins. As a matter of fact, he's openly stated that he'd like to stay here. That kind of thing goes a long way with the Twins.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if the Twins do the exact opposite of what I'd do. That's pretty much what they've done.

Then again, I really haven't given this issue much thought. As I said it really hasn't become an issue yet. We hope it does.

I think part of the problem, Ed, is that kids are playing way too much from an early age. These year round baseball groups are ridiculous IMO. Give the kids a break and let them try other things. You don't need to pen them into a specific sport with tons of usage from the age of 8/9. That's a travesty in sports today IMO.

Agreed. 100%

Agree. Gotta let the year play out. Hoping Rosario is hungry and goes right back to hitting in mid-May.

In our little town of the world, the 2 programs are combining to field a 14/under team.

Baseball is dying on the vine in this town; there are 11 kids in 7/8 combined playing baseball.

Kids have played for several years, are off to other sports; William wanted to run track for something new, with plans to play baseball this summer.Looks like they'll have just enough players.

10th grade class has 4 kids playing baseball.

FINALLY, the "leaders" are trying to figure out why.

And I can answer that easily: Too many coaches have their own agenda. And normally, that agenda is the old #1.

My kid gets to hit first/second/third and pitch as much as I can have him pitch.

And the 'have nots' are fed up with the political games like this. So they quit.

What's sad is that if you really want to make it and get on the best teams, etc., you're almost forced to have your kids with the same group from 8/9 now or else they get passed by with a group that's together, been playing a ton already, etc. It's kind of like our long, unnecessary election cycles. Pointless.

As my wife says

"AND FOR WHAT?!?"

How many of those kids go on to play in the minors? The bigs?

Around here, pretty much zero.

And the process you mention D, is being used here in the sticks.

And in more than 1 sport.

Yep, Ed. Sad state of affairs. I look at stuff like the LL world series. I think it's great on the one hand that the kids are getting recognized, etc. But you have some of these kids signing autographs, etc. at this age. That's ridiculous to me. The team that's been in it from the Nashville are the last couple years have radar guns at their games all the time, heavily scouting other little league teams, etc. It's just too much, too soon, too young.

Talking heads were discussing the Brewers torrid start today.
One commented that Carlos Gomez right now is one of the top5 players in baseball.  (that no one's heard of)
True overreaction and hyperbole, but good for GoGo.
I gotta admit when I watch a Brewers game every couple weeks, he definitely catches your eye immediately.
Has grown into a strong man with some wicked skills.
Good for him.

You know. My good friend Tom who I was just talking to before is a huge Mets fan. Has been a Mets fan since the late 60s. When the Mets traded Gomez in the Santana deal he was hyping up Gomez like you wouldn't believe. I thought he was a ten cent head. I'd already caught a wiff of his antics. I recall seeing the HR he hit off STL at Shea Stadium (maybe his first in the majors) during his brief stint with the Mets. I was actually in from a Twilight round of golf at a place in the Adirondacks (right at the beginning of my summer break). He Cadillacked around the bases and I thought he was an annoying shit. So did EVERYONE having drinks. Other than that I knew little about except for what my friend would say. My friend was also a big Jose Reyes fan. Suffice to say we don't really agree on a lot when it comes to baseball.

Anyway, I didn't have much faith in Gomez as a player when he came to the Twins. I didn't like his propensity to throw the ball halfway into the stands or his inclination to bunt with two strikes. Next time I talk to Tom I will be sure to mention Carlos Gomez. That is, before he starts in with him and the "I told you so!" routine

Pirates and Reds combine for 10 HRs before their game is suspended at 7-7.
Twins management would have keeled over watching that .....

And it's amazing to think he'd never have developed into that type of player had he stayed here. He would have been neutered and brainwashed, like Plouffe.

Tanaka dealing vs Cubs

8IP 2H/BB/10K

Sure glad NYY could overspend. How dare the Twins even consider it. They didn't need a stud pitcher

That's not fair, Hughes is striking out 10.2 per 9.

Now if we can just do something about the 12 hits per 9...

Pitch to contact and strike guys out. No wonder he's baffling.
