Russell Wilson, quarterback, Seattle. In the past five weeks this orchestra leader has led 16- and 29-point victories over the first-place team in the division. Sunday night in the desert, in the Cards’ cacophonous home stadium, he totaled 427 rushing/passing yards with one of the best performances of his three-year career: 20 of 31 for 339 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions, and six rushes for 88 yards. He’s got such a great feel for the game—when to stretch a play out, when to give up on it, how to make defenders miss, how to never take the huge hit. He’ll cost the Seahawks a fortune after the season when it’s time for him to get his second pro contract, but he’ll be worth it. All of it.

Arians is the classic example of a guy who can make chicken salad out of chicken shite.

Too bad his qb situation is what it is. That is the one position you cannot just plug the next guy in and keep rolling.

I was surprised when they gave so much money to Palmer

Give Arians a top, young QB and they would battle Seattle for years and they would win at least their share of NFC West crowns and even Super Bowls

I'm not as big on Arians as most. He's way too full of himself, even by NFL standards, but he's going to take a team to the playoffs that started 4 different QB's, and none of them are even above average. I guess he deserves his due.

I will look for that

Before the season I saw AZ as a little better than the Rams but clearly that wasn't accurate.

They were way better even with the injuries

I predicted them winning the west. Totally pulled that shit out of my ass...but still.

Came pretty close. And they still can with a Seattle loss and and a win.

Arians is a good coach, with the losses they've had injury etc wise...they keep winning,.

If you get a chance to watch the Outside The Lines story about Marquis Goodwin WR for the Buffalo Bills, this is one worth taking in. If you are looking for some one to root for in football or just life in general, this guy is it. Good Luck Marquis, I hope you get everything out of life you want!

Pro Bowl roster is an annual joke

One thing is for sure, there are not 6 QBs I would take over Russell Wilson

SNUBS

Russell Wilson, QB: Quite possibly the biggest snub in the NFL this season among Pro Bowl candidates, being chosen only as an alternate. He became the only QB in NFL history to rush for 100 yards and pass for 300 in the same game, which he did on Oct. 19 in St. Louis. He is the fifth QB in NFL history to rush for 100 yards with a TD and pass for 200 with a TD in the same game, which he did at Washington on Oct. 6. He also set a Monday-night game quarterback record that night with 122 yards rushing. Wilson has rushed for 842 yards this season for a 7.5-yard average and leads all QBs with six rushing TDs. Wilson also has passed for 3,236 yards with 20 TDs and only six interceptions, despite being under constant pressure from on offensive line that has struggled at times with pass blocking. Wilson passed for 339 yards in the 35-6 victory over the Cardinals Sunday night and rushed for 88 yards, including a 55-yard run. And he may lead his team to a second-consecutive Super Bowl. What more does the man have to do?

Trent Williams making the Pro Bowl is a joke

I could go on

Guess Wilson will have to settle on SB MVP this year

Very good article on Manning

Since the start of Week 11, Manning has four interceptions on passes thrown outside the numbers at least 15 yards downfield, tied with Jay Cutler and Colin Kaepernick for the most on those throws in the NFL. Manning is completing 34.4 percent of those passes, below the NFL average for qualifying quarterbacks of 37.6 percent. Manning did not have an interception on that type of passes from Week 1 to Week 10.

Defenses adjusting
The Bengals had at least five defensive backs on the field for 44 of Manning's 46 dropbacks Monday night (95.7 percent), the fourth-highest percentage Manning has faced in a game this season and well more than the NFL average of 73.6 percent. Since Week 9, Manning has faced defenses with at least five defensive backs on the field on 93.7 percent of his dropbacks, up from 67.1 percent in his first seven games this season.

Since the start of Week 9, Manning is 17th in Total QBR when not under pressure. In that span, he has 14 touchdowns and 11 interceptions when not pressured by the defense. Since the start of Week 9, when Manning has been pressured, he ranks 26th in Total QBR.

When facing a loaded box - meaning there are more defensive players in the box than available blockers - Manning's accuracy has worsened in the last seven weeks. He is 23rd in Total QBR. In the first nine weeks of the season, Manning had the most touchdown passes and the best QBR against a loaded box.

Developments around Manning have no doubt contributed to the quarterback's declining statistics. The Broncos ran the ball by design on 29.2 percent of their offensive plays Monday night, their lowest percentage in a game since Week 11 (13.8 percent). That meant Manning had less margin for error.

Since Julius Thomas was injured in Week 11, Manning has been without a strong tight end safety net. Even though Thomas has returned to action the past two weeks, he has three receptions on eight targets. Manning’s QBR targeting tight ends in his first nine games was 98.6. In the last six, it’s 12.8.

I turned it off but, what I heard about Manning's Int's, were this:

1 was a bad route by Thomas

1 was bad protection by the RT

1 was because he had bad protection before so his mechanics were off (meanwhile, nobody was within 5 yards of him)

Did he say it or did the media?

He's usually pretty stand up when it comes to admitting fault.

I wouldn't say that

He shows up his WRs ON THE FIELD in most games he is losing. That is not being stand up

Manning's arm strength is clearly tailing off. Perhaps if they get a BYE he can get enough rest to counter that.

Teams aren't getting fooled as much by the back shoulder throw as they were last year

Top defenses are not fooled at all

Hasselbeck said it on ESPN.  Just FYI.  I just love how it's "never his fault" when it comes to the media.  Although, he did say the last one was bad mechanics but that was due to him getting nervous because of pressure in his face all game.  I.E. ~ kinda his fault but not his fault....

This morning they were claiming it was the wind and rain and no one could have thrown in that

Reminds me of 10-5-98 when Randall had no problem with the rain

Always excuses for Manning

None of those INT's had anything to do with weather.  His supporters are beyond ridiculous.  He is infallible.

I have always been a Peyton apologist well post 2002, I thought he was a way overrated prior to that. But his arm has definitely been an issue. If he has to force the ball to the sidelines in the 15-25 yd range he struggles. He can still pin point the 10 yd out but the deep out and corner route have been a problem. But that has been a problem most of the time in Denver. One thing I've noticed without Julius Thomas they've struggled in the red zone.

Maybe he's showing he can't make those throws and then unleash them in the playoffs, but I highly doubt it, if the Broncos had HFA I'd give some credence to the theory. He's still incredibly efficient and I do see the throws sailing more than they had in September. I will also add the Bronco OLine has been poor in pass pro, but they're running game is working with CJ. Now they will feature Hillman more as a change of pace. Still think they have what it takes to win it all.

Rex Ryan to be Buf HC. Personally, I don't think he deserves to be a HC. We'll see.

How can you go 2-14, get canned, and then get a new gig in 2 weeks.

It's the NFL.

Before long Brad Childress might get another HC job.

Buffalo shouldn't have fired Marone and Schwartz.

They need a real QB. Rex Ryan does so well with those.

The NFL is ridiculous with name association

The Ryan name keeps him employed

Similarly

Why is Jay Gruden a coach? he sucks

Kyle Shanahan - another suck ass coach who keeps getting hired because of his name

Casey Matthews shouldn't be in the NFL except his name

Marone quit on them

Ryan is the worst hire possible for them

They need a guy who can build a QB

DENVER

Shame Fox gets fired because Peyton sucks and chokes

Ryan is a terrible hire for Buffalo.
One, Gym Shortz had that D humming. Ryan is going to take what works and blow it up.
Ryan has never had a good offense. The Bills offense is terrible. Why would they think Ryan will make this unit better?

Bills are destined to remain playoffless for years to come with this move.
