Status: online 		Mankato took care of business with a 4-0 win over Alaska. They and Minnesota could be moving up after Ohio State gets humiliated 8-2 by Bowling Green.

Congrats on the nice win. I honestly thought that Northern Michigan was scrubs by how easily we handled them. I'm a fan of all Minnesota Hockey and love to see the Beavers do well.
I was actually coming to post about the Huskies loss, but got distracted by something. I really, really hate any loss, but it was a ranked team on the road.

Go Minnesota Hockey and most of all go Huskies!

Status: online 		Mankato wins 5-1 over Minnesota on the road. Absolutely title contenders. SCSU losing 2-1 at CC after two periods. UMD with the night off and BSU facing off against Alaska Anchorage in a late game.

SCSU gets an NCHC sweep over CC 2-1 by scoring twice in the third.
Mankato gets a huge sweep over Minnesota 2-1.
Go Minnesota College hockey. I expect the next rankings to have UMD, SCSU and Mankato to have the top three spots. Beavers should be in the also receiving votes and possibly making the top 20.

BSU currently #3 in the pairwise. That is huge for their chances of making the tournament.

Minnesota drops to 16

Beavers still can't crack the top 20 but 22nd in the also receiving votes is their highest standing yet.
For those who are not familiar with the pairwise rankings where BSU was 3rd that is a mathematical formula that determines a teams ranking based on how the teams they played have done against other teams.
As the season moves along the polls and the pairwise rankings will coincide a lot more. At the end of the season the polls no longer matter as the pairwise with almost no deviation determines who makes the championship field of 16.

Status: offline 		Odd as it may seem, losing our All-American goaltender may be a blessing. Looks like we're playing more aggressively than in the past. We may have subliminally been playing too comfortably knowing we had Bitzer there to save the day. It didn't always work out that way.

At every level. The level of comfort you have in your goalie determines a lot about how you play.

Status: online 		Huskies facing our biggest nemesis #5 ranked Denver tonight and just came back to tie it 3-3 halfway through the second. Outshooting Denver 26-15 midway through the game. Hrenak has given up 3 goals on just 15 shots. Not like him.

I want BSU to do well. Tonight they blew it big time though losing 1-0 to Merrimack when they had a chance to make a nice move up the charts. They fell all the way to #11 in the Pairwise.
SCSU got a sweep of Denver which is awesome. Both games were by one goal and both times SCSU had to overcome a 2 goal deficit. Our normally stout goaltender Hrenak was horrible based on the stats. Gave up three goals on 18 shots tonight. Huskies got 4 goals on 41 shots.
Minnesota blew their chance to move up losing 3-1 to Wiscy. UMD took care of CC 5-1 and Minnesota State was Idle. The Huskies will gain some first place votes due to sweeping #5 Denver, but I don't think they can surpass UMD until they lose one. No other team should be receiving a first place vote other than SCSU and UMD.

That is probably true, but remember goaltending is the single most important part of the game. If their goalie plays better than yours it's hard to win. Shots on goal is a good, but overrated stat. SCSU under Motzko didn't like to take a lot of shots. We waited for good opportunities. We would routinely be outshot and still win the games and our goalies weren't that good.
38-17 is a huge shot margin though.
