I think I've made that point a time or two on the Spurs/Pats.

I guess the balls must have been deflated tonight.... Hell of a game, hell of a win. Cheers SMF.

I also love how it ended. Perfection with Bevell/Carroll involved and the look on Sherman's face. Plus Seattle showed their classless selfs IMO. I really think that team is mostly thugs/mouths with the exception of Wilson, who you can't help but respect.

I was extremely nervous watching that game. I can't imagine what it's going to be like when Teddy's in Brady's spot in a couple years.

Needless to say I'm extremely happy that those a-holes lost!!!

Did ex-Vikes coordinator Bevell call that pass play?

un-be-lievable.

Gave away the Super bowl with a power runner, time and a time out.

On a slant pass play at the goal line.

Good to see its all been said.

Super win.
Had my balls kicked in by another miracle against the Pats, and then ...
Stood up and kicked Seattle in the balls with a miracle of their own.
Sooooo sweet to see those loudmouths get SHUT THE HELL UP.
The classless last act was all you need to know about the former champion Seahawks. Classless. But we knew that.
In victory, the Pats were adamant about being fortunate and thankful. And spent equal time praising their opponent.
Think you get that from Seattle if they win again? Whatever ... the important things ...

Brady is at the top of the mountain. And deserves to be. What a great story. And not real sure he's done yet.
Great overall game, the trenches were a damn war. How people don't get hurt on every play is mind boggling.
Loved the Pats plan. Their plan of attack was near-perfect. Brady made some mistakes, or it would have been perfect.
Love how they use the passing game to gouge and tire out that great defense Seattle has. The Seahawks are so aggressive and talented, it feels like they play with 15 guys.
Was an exciting, tension-filled game the whole way, imo. Good to see and good for the league.

As much as I hate Pete Carrol, I hate the Patriots even more. I hate the sheer arrogance of their organization. My contempt grows every time I see a shot Gisel sitting in a luxury suite sipping a white wine. I hate Edelman and non stop jawing and mouthing off at defenders who bring him down with clean tackles. I hate the whole Bill Belichek mystique and the way he uses the frumpy facade to cover being as a douche as their is in the NFL.

Here is the thing. I have no choice, but to respect the hell of them, no matter how deeply I despise them. I have been hearing for a couple of years now that Brady is done. To paraphrase Mark Twain, the news of death was greatly exagerated. Belichek just rebuilds and retools year after year and wins and wins and wins. Edelman may be a mouthy asshole, but he worked his ass off to go from a seventh round pick to bonafide starting NFL receiver and a play through the pain guy.

So congratulations to the Patriots. As much as I hate your guts, I respect you that much more. Winners just win and that's what you do better than anyone else.

This is why I've compared them so much to the Spurs. I've always liked the Pats and their immense class that they show on the whole. But I HATED the Spurs for a long, long time. They were always my Lakers' rivals, always running into Duncan, etc. But at a certain point you turn the page and realize just how amazing their run has been. And I think even those that hate the Patriots should feel that way about them. You can't help but respect them IMO. What a run.

And Brady has now engineered SIX game-winning SB drives. Just so happened 2 of them he didn't get the ball back.

Yup and yup
Im older and found that stuff out years ago .. you can only hate so long, until it turns to respect for what WINNERS do.

Except for the Red Sox.
Those douchebags can rot in hell.

I was disappointed that such a dumb play ended the game. Followed by boorish behavior. Was glad the one arse got tossed. Gronk wasn't exactly a choirboy in that once it started, either.

What was Belichek thinking? He was losing time. IF they scored, NE had zero chance of winning. Seemed like he was resigned to losing the game.

William sat staring at the tv for 10 minutes. Could not believe the Hawks passed.

Bevell has ensured he won't be a head coach any time soon.

A loss that will haunt them forever.

They gave the game away. Stupid.

They've been languishing in suck-dom for a while. Good to see. The coach was a fool to move to the NBA.

If only the RSox could fall back into crap-ola for an extended period of time.

I called the gronk TD when they started lining up. Saw that coming vs some LB.
Seattle stubborn to a fault, was their undoing on that one.

Then being too smart on the INT.

As heartbreaking as it was for Seattle, it would have been equally so for NE to lose on that horseshit, lucky as hell, David Tyree II catch.

Why was that catch horsecrap?

Kearse concentrated and caught it. Was not nearly as lucky as the Tyree catch.

It was lucky that it dropped to him on the rebound. I don't see how those 2 catches are much different.

but why was it horsecrap?

If it was Edelman or another Patriot, would it have been the best catch of the superbowl ever??

Horsecrap is my word because I hate Seattle.

But it was extremely lucky, and would have sucked for NE to lose on that, like it does that they lost to the Giants' on that fluke Tyree catch. And yes, I would say the same if it was a Patriot catch, or a Viking catch.

Nonsense. A catch is a catch. cleanly caught, pinned to a helmet, or bouncing around in the air, Like Antonio Freeman's catch vs the Vikings.

Lucky where it fell, yes. It still took great concentration for him to catch that ball.

Patriots still ended up winning.

Hey, Elle Driver loathed the Bride in Kill Bill. But they respected the hell out of each other.

I hate the Patriots. Have for a while...but they keep winning. Belichick just keeps putting a winning product on the field with craptastic talent and Tom Brady.

You have to give that asshole kudos..

Belichick is the best NFL coach all-time to me. I'd still put Brady #2 behind Montana for QB's, but you certainly could make a compelling case for him. Elway's #3 for me.

Not saying I agree, but it's interesting to hear the stats on that play.

1) Lynch had been stuffed on a 3rd and 1 earlier in the game that basically had Seattle settle for a FG. As well as on another 3rd and 2.
2) There were 108 pass plays from the 1 in the NFL this year, producing 68 TD's and no INT's. Vs. 223 run plays (129 TD's, 2 fumbles) A higher success rate this year for the pass in that situation.
3) Lynch has been only 5 of 12 converting from the 1 over the last 3 years.

Certainly not arguing the play. I would have run Lynch too, but it's not exactly a no-brainer that he would have scored either.

Super Bowl Commercials:

What did you like? Dislike?

The Jeff Bridges/website commercial was creepy.

I liked the Doritos one as usual.

Which Doritos? I liked both of theirs.

Overall I thought it was a pretty weak year. Too much serious stuff. Though the "run like a girl" commercial was really well done IMO.

Nashville was of course cut out of the best one (heart of the Bible Belt):

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/style-blog/wp/2015/02/01/carls-jr-debuts-sexist-super-bowl-2015-commercial/

The "human Pacman" thing was pretty awesome. That'd be a blast.

It was a horsecrap catch the way it worked out.
If Edelman had done it, it would have been one of the greatest ever.

That was pretty good. The Pierce Brosnan one was kind of funny too. TurboTax was one of the better ones. And Nick Offerman is always hilarious to me.
