I actually agree with you, Dan, and think the likeagirl one was very, very good. I just didn't get the same message from the Nationwide commercial. It rang hollow to me. Like a scare tactic to buy insurance, as if that would help ease the pain on losing a child. That's all. That was my issue with it, not the message itself, which obviously we could all be more careful, etc.

The only problem people have with the "Nationwide" commercial is who had the balls to run it..

If that same commercial had been run by the Child Welfare and Safety Council, it would be taken much differently.

The message would be exactly the same, it's just perceived as a shill for "insurance", because of who sponsored it.

Which completely misses the point.

I have a three, almost four year old child, and a wife who is less "aware" of the consequences of the responsibility and vigilance needed around a curious, imitating, and reckless child.

She is 16 years my junior and I can tell she was raised differently by the way she is too trusting and careless about the way she lets our daughter do things with minimal supervision.

The commercial was meant to be a wake up call for slovenly parenting.

If it prevents even one accidental tragedy, all the flack they get is worth it, IMO.

I agree with Dan here. The commercial wasn't about insuring your family in case you have an accident. It was about preventing accidents. There are a lot of parents who could use a wake up call.

Overall I was disappointed with the Super Bowl Commercials. There were some good messages, but I'm watching Super Bowl commercials to have fun, not be taught lessons.

I enjoyed the Nissan saga.
Helps that I love that song.
Thought it was well done.

yep.....didn't care for the song when it first came out but over the years, I became a fan of Harry Chapin. The lyrics hit on so many aspects of real life.

But my favorite Chapin tune......Taxi

I prefer Cat Stevens.

I don't have a problem with in-depth commercials. There were 115 million people watching that game. Fine by me to hear some messages that matter. I just had a different take on those 2.

Guion was useless the first few weeks but really came on during the season. Being a free agent he was in line for nice raise. What a freakin' moron!

Thompson has been listed as a potential Vikes pick

Apparently baseball was tough for him

http://mmqb.si.com/2015/02/11/nfl-draft-shaq-thompson-red-sox/

They picked him in 18th round, 2012

Three months before reporting to Washington for two-a-days, Thompson flew to Fort Myers for rookie ball. The Sox had tempered expectations, and even considered stashing him in batting cages and annexed fields for extra instruction. But the 18-year-old wanted to play, and how do you know if you can hit a 90-mph fastball if you never see one?

Thompson saw fastballs—he stared gravely as they whizzed by. He flailed at anything off-speed. He didn’t even put a ball in play until his ninth game. Over a 13-game stretch that would ultimately encompass his entire professional baseball career, he went 0-for-39 with 37 strikeouts. (With due respect, Thompson also drew eight walks.)

Wake me when MN professional sports are relevant besides the Lynx.

The Wild should be but they went into the season ignoring a pretty important position in hockey, the goalie.

The Vikings made improvement but have a long ways to go.

The TWolves....they rehire Flip as their coach when they should have landed the Memphis coach.

The let Gardy have four straight 90+ loss seasons before they gave him the boot.

And they kept TR.....they kept TR.

I hope so.

Last super bowl appearance....1977.......
Last WS appearance....1991 (now 23 years going on 24) The drought between 1965 and 1987 was 22 years.
Last Stanley Cup appearance.....1991
Last NBA championship appearance....1954

The droughts haven't gotten shorter....they've gotten longer.

I don't know enough about him at this point to have an opinion, but he is now a Viking.

Sheesh, another former Packer. He'll be relieved that he no longer has to wear canary yellow pants on gamedays - but all I hope is that he is a net plus for our team.

Unlikely to make the team. But with 90 man rosters right now, its a low risk flyer.

A response from a Packer fan to me about it...

As far as your tradition of buying our playbook every few years goes, this is by far the most affordable way you've done it. Joke's on you though. Bostick was too stupid to learn it.
