Forget about getting Johnny. He didn't throw at the combine, ok that isn't new, but he also won't throw at A&M pro day. So the only place for him to throw will be personal team workouts. This gives him the chance to choose what team he wants to draft him.

Manziel is throwing at his Pro Day - like most top QBs.

Pro days are always heavily attended for the top-rated quarterback prospects, but especially this year with Texas A&M's Johnny Manziel and Louisville's Teddy Bridgewater deciding not to throw at the combine, instead waiting for their pro day.

quote:

And Teddy didn't do any workouts at the combine. Now that is unusual. He might be hiding a nagging injury

He didn't run the 40, but he did most of the drills. He finished in the top five of the 20-yard shuttle and broad jump, and just outside of the top performers in the vertical jump.

SMF: let's say Clowney and JFF both fall to 8. Who do you go with?

You love getting me ridiculed, don't you Dave?

I'm a Johnny Football Believer, man ...
I was impressed with Clowney a year ago, not so much now.
Just a feeling.

I think Clowney wants to get paid
I think Johnny Football wants to change the game.
I want a ticket on that train, no matter how it turns out.

Go ahead ... let me have it.
(duckin and dodgin)

Nobody asked me but that's never stopped me.

JFF - Love the kids game but don't think he'll last long playing the way he does. Because of that, I wouldn't touch him.

JC - Agree with SMF. Hell no. He's a bust waiting to happen. He's like Neo in that he has the gift. The big difference is that he knows it and doesn't care. He plays because he's going to be paid. He did the work last year to get him that money. This year? Stay safe to see that cash.

Well, yes, I do love seeing you ridiculed, SMF, but that wasn't what I was going for here.  That's merely a side benefit.

Curious because they both have tremendous up and downside (if draft analysts are to be believed).  Was wondering how you break that tie.

Jeff, glad to have your thoughts as well.  Just went with SMF first because he's on board as a JFF fan.  I think I agree with you guys, I'd go JFF.  Cloweney may be the most physically talented end ever, but that hardly guarantees success.  I also have a better feeling about JFF.

I just hope the right guy is on the board when they pick....and they actually pick him...for once.

I don't see Clowney as a pick I'd want. Any guy who dogs it to not get hurt then get your paycheck has warning flags all over him.

That'd be out of the norm in this state, but agree 100%
Please lets just get one right once.

I guess you can pile up dog crap, and as long as the Nike Swoosh is on it somewhere, it's some sweet stuff.

Dammit.
I see marty is suddenly a Manziel-pusher over on the Viking threads.
Gonna have to re-think my position here.

John Carlson was whacked today. Couldn't agree on a restructured deal.

$10 million for two years of...almost nothing.  Not a bad gig if you can get it.

Latest SI.com Mock Draft:

8. Minnesota Vikings (5-10-1): Blake Bortles, QB, UCF

Yes, this is a bit of an overdraft, but Vikings general manager Rick Spielman has never been shy about pulling the trigger a bit early for a perceived need — and there’s nothing perceived about Minnesota’s need for a franchise quarterback. Bortles is still learning multiple-read concepts, and he’ll be befuddled at times by NFL defenses. But with offensive coordinator Norv Turner in tow, Bortles does have the innate ability to become a great NFL signal-caller over time.

So without Turner Bortles doesn't have abilities existing in himself from birth?

Turner. Powerful man.
