ORIGINAL: SoMnFan No Bradford pretty much ruined Stephon Diggs' day. Pretty much ruined everyone's day... And we're back to the main problem with Sam. He has so many of the things you want in a QB. Amazing arm talent - velocity, accuracy, touch. He can make every throw you'd ever dream of, he's capable of reading defenses and making great decisions. He's even quite a bit more athletic than he looks. But... Availability is as important as anything else. And Sam has now played in 79 games and missed 35. That's just not even close to acceptable. How do you move forward with that kind of uncertainty? Get the best backups you can and sign him to 1 or 2 year contracts..... I hate that plan. Anyone good enough isn't coming as a back-up and if they did, its not at all cost effective/feasible. You can work around a QB missing a game or two in the season, but what if its late in the year? Not to mention Sam has a history of season-ending injuries. I don't think it is ideal either....Teddy, Case, and the new kid are probably right up there in terms of backups (minus Kap of course). A guy who can't play for 5 more weeks, a "never was" and an undrafted rookie? There is a ton of future potential there with Teddy and Sloter, but right now, our QB depth is just shy of atrocious.
