About 20 years ago, Cal Tech hosted the National Conference on Undergraduate Research. Students from all different disciplines present the results of their creative efforts. The conference would shift from schools around the country who emphasized undergraduate scholarship. At Cal Tech, a sophomore undergrad student got to introduce that year's keynote speaker.

He said, At Oxford, they read Shakespeare. At Cal Tech, we read Bradbury.

60 % of incoming first year students score perfect on the math portion of either the ACT or the SAT.

A former electrochemist at the Univ. of Wyoming who was one of the smartest chemists I had ever met got his PhD and Cal Tech and told the the undergrads there were scary because they were so smart.

Cal Tech does have a football team but students there are famous for disrupting other football games.

Here is my one of my favorites.

The Great Rose Bowl Hoax was a prank at the 1961 Rose Bowl, an annual American college football bowl game. That year, the Washington Huskies were pitted against the Minnesota Golden Gophers. At halftime, the Huskies led 17–0, and their cheerleaders took the field to lead the spectators in the stands in a card stunt, a routine involving flip-cards depicting various images for the audience to raise. However, a number of students from the California Institute of Technology managed to alter the card stunt shown during the halftime break, by making the Washington fans inadvertently spell out CALTECH.

Loved how people at ESPN had the Browns in the top 5 or so teams going into the season
They wanted it so badly to happen, they forgot you actually had to be good to make that happen.

I agree with him.
Will never understand this FB mentality that permeates all of the sport
When you're 1-something right now, WTF is the difference if you go for it, if you open things up, if you take some risks?
Its even worse to me, in CFB. In CFB, if you lose A game, you're basically out of the national picture.
If you've lost a bunch, why the hell are you playing it safe? Why are you punting near midfield, when you are 3-4? Why?
You;re protecting nothing. It really matters whether you end up 4-8 or 5-7?
There's not enough thinking big picture, imo. Stay careful. Keep your job I guess, because ADs must be dumb, too.

He didn't know what to say. Total brain fart. And they'd run the ball well.

Probably didn't have much kicker faith, like Zimmer, since his guy had hit the upright earlier.

Vikings come in at number 8. Ahead are KC at 5 (5-3), Baltimore at 6 (5-2) and Seattle at 7 (6-2).

Miami is a really bad team but I did enjoy watching their QB for some of the game........Ryan Fitzpatrick. Now playing for his 8th team. In his 15th season....drafted 7th out of Harvard by the St. Louis Rams. First QB to throw 400+ yards in 3 consecutive games in 2018 for Tampa. One of the smartest players in the game based on this test that is administered by the NFL to all rookies.

He and his wife have 7 kids.

He's just fun to watch
Always playing on some craptastic teams, but he makes them competitive more often than not.
