Scoggins has a good read today that is everything that is wrong with MN sports. Paraphrasing but he basically said "doesn't matter what we do until we fix the OLine".

No SHIT. It's taken him this long to point that out? 98% of this place has been calling that out for at least 3 years. In the meantime, we now have to ALSO fix the secondary and about 5 other singular positions.........AND THE OLINE. OMFG, is running a team that hard?

As much angst as I have for Zimmer right now, and the play of the secondary, this falls squarely on RS and his complete failure to fix entire units in a timely manner. He's done it for years. Neglect an entire unit until you can't look away anymore. Then throw every resource you have at it to patch it together quickly while ignoring upcoming problems. WR then LB then secondary and then OL.....when will it end?

The way both overall play the pass

Sendejo and Smith should have been linebackers

Harris has more of those instincts Sweens mentioned

And now he’ll need to get paid as a FA

There is no reason on God's green Earth for Sendejo to be brought back ... other than Zimm can't seem to live without him. I could see Smith in a hybrid S/LB role.

Did they miss Gedeon?

For the life of me, I haven’t understood what value he brought to the defense.

I think Smith in a hybrid role would suit him better.

Who stays as is

Who comes back only because they re-structure contracts

Who is gone

Really close to blowing a lot up

I think a simple upgrade to a legitimate starting LG would cure a lot of ills on the line. I think it is reasonable to believe that Bradbury will improve from year 1 to year 2. Especially if he hits the weight room hard and gets stronger. Kline was adequate at RG. Elfline was just horrible. I take PFF grades with a grain of salt, but Elf graded out at 9.5 out of 100. It adds weight to my belief that he is the worst OG in football.

It's hard for me to judge the OLine. I'm just bad at it. If I were forced to give an "educated" opinion (LOL - it wouldn't be one but....):

Rieff was 'ok' but needs too much help for the $$
Kline was 'ok' but I think that's because we are so used to 'not ok'
Bradbury was a rookie 1st rounder so he gets another year before judgement. I though he got worse as the year went on. Fatigue due to lack of strength like you mention?
Elf was flat out bad. It was very irritating.
O'neill was good

In the years past we've had injuries that clouded whether this unit was bad or just thin. We had no such issues this year. They were just bad overall.

Which brings me back to my original point. HTH does RS still have a job? The guy neglects massive problems until there is no way to justify it. And, it's not the first time. He seemingly has no plan in place and does a terrible job looking in to the future.

Rieff was 'ok' but needs too much help for the $$ Agreed, but what are our options?
Kline was 'ok' but I think that's because we are so used to 'not ok' Agreed. I am satisfied to not worry about him and see if Samia can push him for the job.
Bradbury was a rookie 1st rounder so he gets another year before judgement. I though he got worse as the year went on. Fatigue due to lack of strength like you mention? I thought he started off absolutely horrible, got better for a good stretch of games and then faded at the end. As you said, probably fatigue.
Elf was flat out bad. It was very irritating. You have a gift for understatement, my friend. I honestly can't remember when we have had worse LG play. Too small and weak for the pass block, not athletic enough for our running scheme. Small weak and unathletic is poor combination for playing O-line.
O'neill was good. Agreed. Very solid, especially in pass blocking.

In the years past we've had injuries that clouded whether this unit was bad or just thin. We had no such issues this year. They were just bad overall.

Pitching and offensive line play are your areas of expertise. Thank you.

You're right. IMO we're stuck with Rieff for now. From what I can tell his contract his year to year and 11 mill this year. Not sure we could get better protection for less money.

Best buck for the bang would be to get a stud LG in FA and hope that dose wonders for the entire left side of the line. Not sure who that is though.

Once again, the window of opportunity and the fact that it doesn't stay open forever seems to be a lost concept with respect to MN professional sports teams.

The problem is that the Vikings address the offensive line the same way the Twins address starting pitching.

You're at least asking the right guy. Tim is the expert on both.

Tim says he’s an expert on everything.

I think he knows a lot about a lot.

Good game so far.

Vrabel's offense is doing whatever it wants so far.

Titans aren't "hogging the ball" to keep KC off the field.

They're just out there running play after play effectively.

Even on a deep incompletion, the guy is open.

Love the coaches.

Cold day, long FG not likely, go for it vs PUNT (AKA Zimmer ball)
