I expect Lewis to go on a tear after his slow start this season.

In his last 10 games, Lewis is batting 293 with 3 HR's, 7 rbi's and 8 runs.

Think he is coming out of his early season funk.

And he turned 20 on June 5.

Let's give up on him.

Question of the day. If Falvine called the Nationals and asked what do want for Max Scherzer and the Nats replied that Lewis had to be part of the package ... would you do it?

Good question. Scherzer could be the pitcher to help us win it all. Nats aren't going anyplace. Braves look like they are the team to beat in the east.

He is in the fifth year of a 7 year contract for 210 million, much of it deferred.

Jim Pohlad would have a heart attack even if the Nats pick up the deferred salary for when he pitched as a Nat.

His record is 6-5 but he is leading the league in FIP. And in K's.

my gut says yes if the Nats also pick up his deferred salary for the rest of his contract.

And then I think that Lewis is 20 years old and could be our shortstop for 10 + years.

Move Polanco to 2nd

Upon reflection......no

I think I would do it. I believe in striking when the iron is hot. Lewis is at high A and could be another 3 years away. Scherzer becomes the ace of a staff and playoff warhorse for up to 3 playoff runs. It sucks to lose a Lewis, but the Twins have a lot of middle infield depth in the organization.

I wouldn't pay his deferred salary for time as a Nat.

I agree. I don't think the Nats would expect anybody to pick up the rest of his contract along with the deferred money he is already owed.
