Hudson Boyd, a high draft pick in 2011 who hasn't risen above Low A ball and has been relegated to relief work in Cedar Rapids, was suspended indefinitely for unspecified violation of team rules. The Twins had four picks by the end of the second round of that draft: Levi Michael, Boyd, Travis Harrison and Madison Boer. ------------- Hudson Boyd, a 2011 Bishop Verot High School graduate and the 55th overall pick in that year's draft, has been suspended indefinitely by the Minnesota Twins. Boyd, 21, is a relief pitcher this season for the Cedar Rapids (Iowa) Kernels, the low Class A affiliate of the Twins. He violated a team rule during his team's most recent road trip, said Twins director of minor leagues Brad Steil, who declined to disclose the violation. "We're just going to handle this internally," Steil said. Asked how confident he was that Boyd could turn things around and get back into good standing, Steil said: "I think that's up to him. We want to see him follow the rules going forward." Boyd last pitched July 24. For the season, he has a 4-2 record and a 4.53 ERA with 35 strikeouts and 25 walks in 43 and two-thirds innings. He also has seven saves. "He's been doing OK," Steil said of Boyd's on-field performance. "He's a little bit up and down. He probably wasn't throwing ball as well as he was earlier in the year." Boyd could not be reached for comment.
