That's unfair.
TR is experimenting with that Tweeter thingy, and he's still proficient on the telegraph.
So there.

Then why no

The Thorpe news is just terribly depressing. Though he's still young and can recover. At this point elbow injuries are a whole lot less scary than shoulder injuries and just about every pitcher goes through one or the other at some point. Let's get it out of the way with Thorpe. He'd be 20 in 2016 and recovered. Could still make the majors at 22-23. He's our next "stud" behind the trio of Meyer/Berrios/Stewart to me.

The last news I heard is that they confirmed it was a sprained UCL, with no damage that won't require TJ surgery.

Sprained UCL still means eventual TJ. Just a question of now or later.

That's what I thought.

TJ isn't done unless there is actual tearing of the ligament. I don't know if there is any data saying a sprain is a precursor to actual damage.

Unless its very mild (a stretch), most sprains are actually tears. The level of the sprain is how severe the tear is.

Yep. I've never heard of one of these not resulting (eventually) in TJ. Maybe they exist, but I bet they're rare.

Uggh.

That is the first time I have ever heard a sprain described as a tear.

Oh well, it's like I said when it was first announced; they'll probably wind up having to put him down before the winter is over.

Sprains and tears are pretty interchangeable terms.

Grade 1 sprain is stretched ligaments with microscopic tears. Generally does not require any surgery.

Grade 2 sprain is a partial tear with varying degrees of stability.

Grade 3 sprain is a complete tear.

Twins officially looking for a new AA home. LEN isn't sure why. Good job looking into it. All he needed was an email Mike!

BaseballAmerica has updated list of the AA affiliations that are not yet set for 2015; except for Minn, they are all west-coast teams - I would not imagine any of them would want to be so far from home and in a cold-weather climate. There are sometimes situations where a parent team is very unhappy with their affiliate; when NewHaven had AA teams until a few years ago, it was always the city that got the last parent - and they would typically just stay for 2 years until they could find something better.
I believe that the minor league team owner always has a contract with MajorLeague baseball to provide an affiliate.

Can't really blame Lavelle Neal for not knowing more about the RockCats situation. The Hartford Courant stories all center around the machinations dealing with the planned redevelopment of that downtown Hartford area. The NewBritain paper www.newbritainherald.com has had very little in depth about the stadium and the RockCats owner situation. And, unless you actually talk to the few Rockcats management personnel that are here, you would not know of their strange attitudes towards fans and NewBritain in general.

I still maintain that would like to see the Twins go back to having their AA back in the Southern League (no offense Mike). That was where they separated the men from the boys. Any prospect who could turn in a good AA season in the grinder of the Southern League was a real prospect. That was where Knoblach made the jump from AA to the majors. That was where David McCarty went from prospect to suspect.

Would probably be more convenient for FTM/AA promotions, less so for AAA.

I wouldn't mind our AA being in the Southern League.

Though New Britain isn't all that inconvenient for me with work/family.

Twins had their AA team in Orlando FL for many years, but left in early 90s and wound up sharing a stadium in Nashville with an AAA team. The were unhappy there. Joe Buzas was the long-time owner of the New Britain RedSox franchise, and was also the operator of the Twins AAA team in either Portland OR or SaltLakeCity. Boston RedSox were trying to force Buzas to move to Springfield MA so that they'd get better Mass. legistlative support for building a brand new Boston stadium.. Buzas refused, in part because I think he knew the Twins wanted a new place to play. So, he terminated the Boston RSox lease and brought in Twins.

That year is still talked about as a nightmare year for the staff in Nashville because they were operating two teams (AAA and AA both) on one field, with mainly one staff in the front office. They literally had a game EVERY DAY at the ballpark. I can't even imagine how life must have been for the groundskeeper. Gardy and Rick were the manager/pitching coach of that team.

Twins' AA to Chattanooga! (apologies to Mike)

Best possible spot for me for a AA Twins team. Only about 1 1/2 to 2 hours from me. Yes!

It's a decent park. I usually make it to 1-2 games a year there already. I was holding out hope for Rochester moving to Nashville, but that will be the A's. Which are easily my 2nd favorite team. I got to make it to New Britain a few times the last couple years since it's not too far away from a lot of work/family now. But this is pretty sweet for me. Now if we could get one of the A ball teams to move to Bowling Green (about an hour away) I'd be set.

Again, apologies Mike. Mike, you ever make it up to Rochester? A haul, I know.
