A team with 22 starters and all credit goes to one guy?

I'm sure Tom would be the first to start laying the credit elsewhere,,,but to call it meaningless...WOW...I've heard it all now!

I wonder what it's like when you definitively cross that line over to 'best ever'?

Tom is either the best or 2nd best QB I have ever seen

I like Montana better but I can see a case being made for him

But wins and losses are a team thing

The QB plays the largest part of any player

Still a team thing

Nope.

But a great QB gets a much bigger share.

Most teams that are good for a long period of time have a great QB. Teams that don't tend to be way more up and down.

Its a team sport, but I weight it heavily towards QBs.

Best QB I ever saw was Steve Young. Just glad they haven't re-released that damned Burger King add in the past five years.

Yeah well, this is the guy who screamed that Peyton Manning was done 2 days before Manning went out and threw for 7 TDs in a game.

er, wait, that was Trekie?

Is there any other Pats player, over the course of those 201 wins, that comes remotely close to Mr. Terrific, in import to the Pat's success? I'd put him at about 25%, you can divide the other 75% up between the probably 150-200 players also with the Pats over that span, I'm sure the roster has turned over 3 or 4 times.

This will finally explode Stephen A Smith's head ......

Jeff Fischer supposedly has been extended.
Unreal.
He DOES have pictures of someone.

I believe the Rams GM's son is Fischers agent.

Fischer was interviewed prior the NE game and he thought Danny Woodhead was their rb.

He also mentioned how tough it will be to defend another rb on their roster whom has only had one carry this season.

Talk about an idiot

Steve Young choked too much to ever be the best

Montana was the most clutch I ever saw

Brady has had more opportunities, was good longer, more SBs including 2 losses, etc.

But 1 game I take Montana over everyone

Like JC, its a close call for me, and Brady is the best I've seen in a long, long time. But I'd take Montana in that one game too.

Derek Carr gets the Raiders the lead, and Khalil Mack keeps it that way. Mack has three strip-sacks in the fourth quarter in his past four games, and he recovered the fumble each time. No other player in the NFL has done that (sack, forced fumble, fumble recovery) in the fourth quarter in that time.

I question why Barr is not used more rushing the passer late in games.

I really thought Mack would be used more like Barr and vise versa.

Elway was pretty clutch too.

lost a few superbowls before he won one.

Lost one to Montana. and I would take Joe first Brady would be in there too, along with Favre and Elway.

Favre? Favre's claim to fame throwing idiotic season ending picks, trying to play the hero.

Elway was little more than a spectator in 3 of the 4 SBs he played in, in fact has 3 of the worst QB performances in SB history.

Montana had the luxury of a much younger team in San Francisco. By the time Young took over, many of the guys were getting long in the tooth. I just thought Young's skill-set was off the charts. He was very accurate as a thrower and had the ability to run, with the heart of a Lion. The guy was fearless as a runner, which probably led to his shorter career.

I like the guys that can run, which is why I always loved Cunningham.

Elway would clearly be in the conversation.

Most overrated guy, IMO, was Marino

I don't know - they did a good job replacing talent

Merton Hanks was at his peak in the Young years

Look at how Joe's rating was strong in the playoffs and Young's went down

The one thing I will give young is SF made one of the worst trades in history when the traded Charles Haley to Dallas

Ford's and Chevy's. It's just a personal preference for me. They were both far superior to anything the Vikings have ever had at quarterback.

I believe he played in 5.

And he was pretty clutch to get there in a couple.

Elway got to 3 Super Bowls in large part because the AFC was so bad.

From 1984 to 1997, not only did the NFC win every SB, but the #2 team in the NFC would have won also

If Denver was in the NFC he never would have made those Super Bowls

When he did win, they won on the RUNNING GAME and not Elway

Brady and Montana are so far about just about everyone else it is not even funny

Perhaps you make a case for Bradshaw but no way are Elway and Favre on Montana and Brady's level

I can't remember Johnny Unitas but my older brother said he was the best. Keep in mind that you can't compare stats across different eras

Staubach was very good but had a short career

We forget about the life of these players AFTER the game is done with them. So sad

QUOTE: Former Heisman Trophy winner Rashaan Salaam dies at 42

(CNN)Rashaan Salaam, who won the Heisman Trophy in 1994 while at the University of Colorado, was found dead in a park in Boulder. He was 42.

No foul play is suspected, Boulder police spokeswoman Shannon Cordingly said. She said the cause of death is under investigation. An autopsy was to be performed.

My list of best quarterbacks is far different from my list of favorite quarterbacks to watch. In terms of most entertaining to watch:

1) Brett Favre
2) Randall Cunningham
3) Dan Fouts
4) Ken Stabler
5) Mike Vick
6) John Elway
7) Aaron Rodgers
8) Steve Young
9) Jim Hart
10) Jim McMahon/Steve Bartkowski/Dan Pastorini

I like your list minus Favre and Elways

Favre - the fakeness of him turned my stomach - Rodgers is now getting into this territory

Elway - as a Raiders fan I hated Elway because he was soo good!

I will get blasted here but even though I was not a Cowboys fan, Staubach was fun to watch

Fran goes on that list for me around Vick's spot

Honorable mention for Jim "Captain Comeback" Harbaugh

No QB list of mine is ever complete without Jim Plunkette either

Randall
Fouts
Fran
Staubach
Bradshaw
Montana
Williams
Plunkett
later Vick
youg Brady
