Turner is a fool. These players have had seminars and such, plus they've probably heard about instances where other people were scammed.

Turner then went to two Chase Bank branches to transfer $120,000 each to "Island Food Truck LLC" and "CNL FL LLC."

Really?

So through his stupidity he has enriched the scammer enterprise so they can go out and hire more scammers.

Different opinion for old people.

Lack of brain power may well have been one of the reasons he wasn't on the field much last season.

To actually go to his bank and not even talk to somebody (since your there) to confirm wth was going on makes you wonder.

On the flip side he was able to follow the scammers intructions to a tee.

It's not stupidity that is his problem here. It is Naivete. He's only about 22 years old. He hasn't got a lot of experience in the real world yet. Not enough to be cynical about shit like this yet.

For older guys like us, we're like DUH!!! Not falling for that bullshit...

And his "brainpower" had nothing to due with his lack of snaps. Van Ginkel and Greenard were getting the job done too well and were taking most of the snaps. When he got opportunities he didn't waste them...did pretty well.

I think merely by the fact he was Edge4 behind Patrick Jones tells me he didn't fully grasp the defensive playbook.

Kwesi gave up a shit load to move up and get this guy. Normally first rd picks play a lot more snaps than he did.

Extending Van Ginkle also is a sign that they don't believe in him.

Just reading the tea leaves.

Its horrible to hear about Turner getting scammed. Regardless of how it went down, his gulibility etc.

There’s no lower rung in hell than the scammer rung.

There’s absolutely no silver lining in it, at all …

although … starting out the season as an embittered sourpuss engine of vengeance might help the team.

Of course, thats so less important for me than recovering the funds and prosecuting the perpatrators.

Of course.

My senior citizen parents have been beaten by scammers twice. Which is crazy because we grew up in one of the toughest towns in America. I always tell them to watch who they share their information with, but they are too nice when people come to their home asking about roofing, concrete sealing, etc. It kills me that guys want to make a living off the backs of trusting old people.

Jordan Addison pleaded no contest to a reduced charge of wreckless driving with alcohol involved. He was fined a few hundred dollars, and received a years probation along with attending a couple programs; MADD victim impact and a DUI program.

The NFL will likely hand out a three game suspension.

True...they could hire the scammer as his personal coach, but the scammer makes way too much to be affordable.

So the scammer said transfer $240K rather than the whole amount. Guess that MO somehow sounds more legit and scammers figure people like Turner won't catch the disconnect.

That was for sleeping in his car on the freeway, right? As opposed to driving 140 mph in a 55 mph zone cause he had to attend to his dog.

Yep. And once again he gets to plead to a lesser charge and get his wrist slapped.

My friend at the bank here and I talked about this while we were "debriefing" following the instance where our customer tried to withdraw all $160,000 of her money in cash. We were remarking on how hard it was to convince her to even wait 24 hours before making such a rash decision. We called every friend, child, and other family member of hers we could think of and encouraged them to contact her and help stop it. Between everyone, we eventually talked her into withdrawing "just $50,000" and also convinced her that the money should be handed over in person and not just mailed. Once she agreed to do it in person that killed the scam because obviously the scammers aren't going to appear in person and likely aren't even in the country.

Anyway - on to my actual point in regards to the part I bolded. It sucks because it's dishonesty and crime and preying on the vulnerable. It's also must be enormously profitable. My bank friend and I figured that if we dedicated our skills to scamming we could probably make $10 million in cash - by the end of this year. It's just too easy to separate the elderly from their money. They're so damn lonely they just want someone to talk to. They answer every call they get on their phones. Their cognitive skills are in decline.

Talk with your elderly parents often and stay involved in their finances. Take over their finances if they'll let you. (Just don't then scam them yourself haha).

Yeah. "Attend his dog" who was the opposite direction of where he was going but I digress.....

Based on it not being an official DUI, do you think it's still 3 games? No matter the punishment, that dude better count his blessings. You are tempting the fate of yourself, and others, being asleep at the wheel on any freeway outside of LA

I think the rule reads any crime where alcohol is involved. What Addison pleaded to is called a "wet reckless driving", so I believe the 3 game suspension is still expected.

Good points, David. My brother is currently in the process of becoming my parent's power of attornet for finances. He's way better with the money stuff than I am.
