Interesting that QB Cooper Rush was trying out with us yesterday at rookie mini camp.

The other quarterback at Vikings rookie minicamp is Aidan Bouman, a native of Buffalo, MN and a former FCS star at the University of South Dakota. The 6'5" lefty is the son of Todd Bouman, who played for the Vikings in 2001 and '02 and also saw the field with the Saints and Jaguars.

I remember Rush, at one time, was considered a solid backup. Beat us soundly at least once that I remember.

That was awhile back.

we are probably just checking QBs out in general, keeping them on speed dial when/if peple start dropping.

Extra arms for Rookie mini-camp.

Unlikely either guy makes the training camp roster.

Kind of a strange place to find yourself in if you're Smith Vernon.. Guy goes undrafted, isn't picked up in the wave of UDFA but shines in rookie mini camp and earns a contract.

A lot of big guy depth added this off season.

Really thought Jauan had moved on.

Very good deal for a team sticking to its guns. One could argue for a vet edge or cb or s but flores is better at platooning people than koc … flores schemes are a fire drill anyway … IMO jennings was vital for our new munchkin attack / will be this years wilson for value impact. well I guess there’s not much competition for that but still …

Plus … it will be fun to watch the gb / det cbs trying to play their little mindgames with jet when they’re crumpled on the ground sobbing.

Flores can platoon all he wants, but when low-talent or unproven types roll onto the field the offenses attack them.

The edge position essentially has no talent behind Turner and AVG. Batty? Chambliss? Richter? Wilson (which then leaves a gap at ILB)? The rook?

Same at CB. As beo said, if the starters go down we're left with McGlothern and the rookie (or whoever makes the team).

Slim pickings, just bring in a couple of vets even if they are one-dimensional as long as that dimension is ~ smart/adapts/quick to react. They can fight for a roster spot with the multitudes of borderline legit players. Hold the fort for a few games.

I agree that we are very thin at multiple positions, certainly edge cb … ‘one could argue for’ was not the way for me to say it. I dont believe Jennings is JUST a depth signing … he fulfils an important semi-starter position ?(as well as depth for knucklehead addison). Which has some priority over the other positions, in my book. Without Jennings, the position is our thinnest on the team maybe, there’s nothing.

If I am the GM, and I have to choose between a #3 WR for KOCs complex inside-a-watch timing mechanism -vs- a backup edge or cb for Flores’ spray nozzle on jet setting … I maybe go offense. Seems like the draft may have hinted at the next item on our to-do list.

Dont quote me on this, as soon as a cb or edge go down, I’ll deny every word.

Jennings isn't part of my reasoning. I've already praised that signing and again think the offense is ready, at least as far as it can be this time of the year. WR depth was horrid but we kind of leaped past the typical #3-4 depth piece and I hope Jennings can challenge Let's Get Paid.

It's sort of like, ok now turning to the defense... how about a couple of adaptable veteran backups because rehash, rehash, yadda, yadda. If they exist.

In Mexico City at Estadio Banorte, the 49ers will be the home team for a Sunday night game on Nov. 22 against the Vikings.

A designated away game for Minnesota! Just one time zone, 4+ hours flight time... far better than an oceanic crossing.

49ers also play in Melbourne on Week 1 vs the Rams. 16 hours flight time each way. Ugh.

Never been to Mexico City. I see the stadium holds about 85,000. Wonder what good seats will go for? I looked into seat cost for the game in Ireland last year and good seats were a little pricey for a jet lag trip. I see Mexico City goes by the Central Time Zone year round. If good seat prices aren't too bad, I'd be up for the trip. I like about 25 rows up on the first level or the first 6 rows on the second level both somewhere between the 20 yard lines.

Mexico City is one of the great places to visit in this hemisphere. Amazing food and art scene, gorgeous architecture, tree-lined streets and parks, etc. You can go to certain cities and you'd swear you were in France, or Spain. The people are friendly and its very safe.

If you go to the game, I'd stay for a good week or so. There is so much to do.

That's going to be interesting for sure. That stadium is tough to play for teams that aren't used to it. Not great air quality and elevation is higher than Denver. Should be tough for the O/Dlines especially.

Sounds good! Are you volunteering to be a trip tour guide? Wonder where Arron Jones got his purple sombrero?
