Why isn't Cousins wearing a mask on the sidelines? I thought he believed in the protocols?

I should have known all this would get swept under and forgotten once the season actually started.

Maybe he got his first shot? Now that would be an enigma for the Kirk haters.

Yes.

We'd all be furious at him for doing the right thing...

This is the best reply to a post I've read in a long while.

Did anyone else watch the Eli and Peyton version? Way better than the live announcers.

Peyton is so good and knowledgeable. If he wanted to be a coach and I was an owner, I would just slide him a blank check. If he could put a staff together to run the defense he would be unstoppable.

I'm sorry I missed it.

But I'll bet after a couple of losses you'd be calling for his head on a block, too, Ron. [;)]

He's probably making too much money and having too much fun doing his quiz show with his brother.

Phil Riewer -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/14/2021 11:00:39 AM)

I started watching the Eli/Peyton version mid way of the 3rd Quarter and they had Travis Kelce, Russell Wilson, and Ray Lewis earlier. It was very innovative, funny, and lots of replays so Peyton could go over a play. They made fun of each other...I guess Ray Lewis kidded Peyton or Eli about a goose egg they put up against him as a rookie. Then they showed Russell's wife at a party w/o him....Eli actually said wow but I think it was a great idea.

Peyton asked Russell about what he called certain routes but I had to keep the noise down as the fiance was sleeping...lol

I would give him 8 years to win two playoff games.

Vikings ran it on first down 14 times Sunday, for a total yardage of 20 yards. Lol, guessing any Manning wouldn't do that.

Vikings only created 8 first downs via offense, I wonder how many they actually had? 14 had to be close to all of them. That's a ridiculous hole the OC/Zimmer is putting Cousins into.

The third and fourth down conversions are all that matter (in terms of first downs).

They converted on 2 4th downs … to stay in the game. Outstanding by Cousins.

His play at the end of regulation and OT was solid … and more important than the other passing stats.

I rough him up all the time for being a robot but between the drive-killing penalties, the kiss-Zimmers-ass playcalling … Cousins actually overcame a lot to keep us in it.

He saw the blitz, walked up to the line to make sure the protection knew, then proceeded to take the snap, step up into the blitz, and took a drive ending sack. I don't want that from my QB.

Ricky J -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/14/2021 2:28:42 PM)

When Rogers signs on with the Vikes next year maybe we can finally get a QB that won't get sacked by a blitz ending a drive.

David F. -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/14/2021 2:37:44 PM)

Third-and-15 with 1:30 left to go in the first half, has ALL DAY to throw and dumps off a three-yard-pass to Conklin who gets tackled three yards later. Bengals score a TD 40 seconds later to take a 14-7 lead. These small bad decisions lead to bad outcomes. On the stat sheet it looks like a completion but it's no good.

Good stuff, Tom!

The biggest issue to me was that our offensive coaching was not able to adjust to a couple of simple things that the Bengals did defensively. Read an article this morning, detailing how the Cincy defense targeted the middle of our line. They used outside defenders to deke our tackles to keep them from helping inside, while they lined rushers on top of each of our interior linemen. The middle of the line caved all game. Bradbury in particular was a human blocking sled. Our offensive brain trust was baffled and couldn't counter it.

Ricky J -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/14/2021 3:42:07 PM)

I thought Tom made a great comment: Cousins actually overcame a lot to keep us in it.

But it's meet with Cousins taking a sack, killing a drive.

Cousins, as per a Tweet I saw, was our highest PFF rated offensive player on the team.

Could he of been better? I'm sure. But he put this team in a position to win at a time where Brad has made probably a 1000 posts saying he is the worst.

I don't know, seems like a time to me to keep what Cousins meant to this game at least neutral.

Trekgeekscott -> RE: General Vikes Talk (9/14/2021 3:54:22 PM)

Cousins looked out of synch but he was not the reason we lost.

How many dipshit penalties.

How about a fumble in OT when we were in FG range to win it. (Granted I think is ass was on the ground before the ball came out but in the end you have one job there....don't fumble).

We had a very good chance to win this despite being down big early in the second half.

Cousins was not the reason, nor even a reason we lost. could he have been better? Always. Tom Brady could have been better in the Superbowl.

But let's focus on what sucked really bad in this game.

1 Rashod Hill was getting abused. Chandler Jones may get 10 sacks next week.

2. Brashad Breeland was getting targeted. They never threw to Patrick Petersons side of the field...why? because Breeland sucked.

3. PENALTIES, Drive killing penalties. FIVE false starts and only one of them on an Olineman. Holding putting us in big holes

4. Playcalling. Dear God we need 20 yards why the holy **** are you throwing a three yard dump pass? The play needs to be much closer to the sticks, you can't expect anyone to get 17 yards running after the catch on this team.

Agreed. And I doubt that should be something under playcalling. More of a checkdown.
