We've learned two things from Brad today:

- Last December, the Lions defense was "elite".

- It's a big deal to beat Indy when they are in the midst of a four game losing streak (or 1-5 since Nov 2).

I feel like Ohtani at batting practice.

Come on man. They only needed a 56 yard FG at the buzzer to beat them. Yeah, SD didn't throw a TD in that game and had 2 very bad INT's but when you're up against......checking my notes.......44 YO Grampa Rivers who came back just for that game IN Seattle, you can't possibly win if SD doesn't have his A game [:'(]

Bill Jandro -> RE: General Vikes Talkk (12/22/2025 5:27:19 PM)

Bummer about the latest JJM injury. WTF was O'Neal doing there? Burns is second in the league in sacks and you let him get a free run at your QB? Burns is one of them guys like Parsons & Garrett, need to know where he's lining up every play.

But, but I read that "Sam led his team".

26-6 since the beginning of 2024

I can't figure you people out. Apparently you don't like winners.

Recent Winners:
Hurts
Brady
Mahomes
Stafford

Everyone else not so much.

O'Neal confirmed that he did his assignment. Burns was meant to go unblocked because the inside guy had a more direct route. It was up to JJM to get that to Jefferson, as designed, or dirt it. He did neither and got blown up.

No Vikings named to the Pro Bowl team. "A complete shutout from the Pro Bowl is an exclamation point on the Vikings' expensive failure this season. The team committed nearly $350 million to its 2025 roster"

I think most of us are tired of the regular season participation wins that guys like Cousins/Darnold would give us. I was in favor of bringing in Darnold in the first place but also loved that they took JJM at 10. JJM has shown signs he can be a good QB but the obvious injury concerns are the main talking point. If your boy Darnold gets to the NFC champ and/or beyond, then you can brag and we'll owe you an apology.

Somewhere in there is an analogy involving an expensive club, charging expensive champagne, and hangovers.

Actually it's 26-7 since the beginning of 2024.

Playoff games simply don't exist in your regular season version of the NFL.

God you are so desperate...

Phil Riewer -> RE: General Vikes Talkk (12/23/2025 3:24:45 PM)

JJ out with hairline fracture.

Chris Olson -> RE: General Vikes Talkk (12/23/2025 4:17:54 PM)

How can we continue to put effort into JJM?

The product on the field is the worst of any QB in memory

AND, he can't stay on the field

I hope we go after QB in first rd again this year, minus Kwesi

In Vikings tradition... managed the absolute worst path:

1) Pass on Darnold resign (understand the logic... but if they went with resign you'd have to imagine playoffs, possible div win, maybe #1 seed)

2) Can't trade up for Drake Maye (not Vikes fault... but a bummer)

3) Pass on Bo Nix (you'd have to imagine playoffs)

4) Pass on Arod (think we'd of all hated it... but you'd have to imagine playoffs)

5) Pick JJM (no history of injuries in college... plagued by injuries and bad play in NFL)

this effing franchise is killing me

marty -> RE: General Vikes Talkk (12/23/2025 6:39:41 PM)

#2 is not a possibility, but I can totally picture #s 1, 3 and 4 all ending up with the Vikings still missing the playoffs this season.

Actually, I love being competitive. This season was over in week 9-10.

I don't remember you saying the same with Kirk when we were 13-4.....hmm must have something to do with the B10 college he went to.

Nah, it's pointless to play him in meaningless games when it's difficult to grip the ball. It serves no purpose.

Mark Anderson -> RE: General Vikes Talkk (12/25/2025 7:23:34 PM)

Merry Christmas everyone!!

With Brian Flores, defense definitely doesn't start at the Corners. The way he works the Front 7, he is making our below average DBacks look like Pro Bowlers the last few weeks.

Trekgeekscott -> RE: General Vikes Talkk (12/29/2025 9:27:28 AM)

OK. one more meaningless game to go. Our draft position is being adversely effected by prode.

But here are a few things the Vikings definately need to address this offseason.

1. Get Brian Flores signed. Give him whatever he wants to stay as DC, add titles, pay him a .01 less than KOC. Promise him the HC job if KOC ever steps down, if fired (but be clear that if he tanks it to try to get the job he wont get it). Whatever you need to do to keep this guy in house...do it.

2. Improve Oline depth. Injuries have killed us this year. We cannot have Justin Skule getting anywhere near this many reps ever again.

3. It has become abundantly clear, as it was in 2023 as well, that this team needs competent QB play. With this defense, solid QB play puts us in the driver's seat for the playoffs. We could be playing for the first seed and a bye. It is a miracle we are still in line for a winning season as bad as the QB play has been. Now JJM is showing signs that he can be that guy but his inability to stay healthy makes is a necessity to have someone else come in here and compete with him at the very least next year for the starting job. Wentz barely showed competence and got beat up by the depleted Oline's inablility to block. and Brosmer, well, he looked like an undrafted free agent rookie QB. Find someone who can step in and compete for the job. I can't say who that might be but they cannot go into next season with the same QB situation or they are doomed once again.

My replies.

1. Flores. He absolutely deserves another HC shot but two things benefit our chances of retaining him. First I think the lawsuit is a poison pill. Teams are terrified to interview him, because if they interview him and then don’t ultimately hire him, as would be their right, they fear becoming fodder for more litigation. Also, the Vikings record plays a role. When teams snipe a coordinator to be a HC, the sexy pick is from a Super Bowl contender, which the Vikings were not. Even though the defense is certainly playoff caliber.

2. I’m thoroughly convinced teams should go oline with at least one of their top 3 draft picks every single year.

3. They handed the keys to JJ too soon and paid the price. I’m still a believer in McCarthy, but it takes time. They had other options to be patient with JJ and still contend this year. That’s on Kwesi. If Kwesi doesn’t hit a HR with this year’s off season, not just with QB, show him the door. And it wouldn’t break my heart if they showed him the door a week from today.

Jeff Jesser -> RE: General Vikes Talkk (12/29/2025 10:36:10 AM)

RE: #2 and 3.

2. We need to seriously look at the OLine coach. This isn't a 1 year problem and some of it is down to injuries but not all.

3. If I were a Wilf I'd be asking KAM/KOC some big questions., Karl is right. JJM was clearly not ready so why were they bamboozled in to spending 300+ million on this roster? KOC has said in the past that he's the QB killer of who they try and bring in. So what was/is it? Was he wrong or was he overruled? Something doesn't add up. The team brought in Howell as a backup and canned him right before the season so they knew something was up with the situation.

Personally, I find it hard to believe they were caught off guard at the last second on the whole situation. They couldn't have predicted all his injuries but even when healthy he showed major growing pains.
