HAHAHA. Just looked it up and it's worse than I remembered. 30 seconds to go in the half, in easy FG range and no TO's. Wow!

I didn't see the game last week, just highlights.

It's too bad we don't have a better option. Is there still some potential with Hall ?

Yes. Hall had a good preseason game last week. The highest PFF score, great stats. Therefore, he is hereby thrust into the conversation for playing time, roster spot, resigning... the works.

The video is even worse.

But Mullens has that devil-may-care attitude. A short memory. A super high yet quiet confidence. So he has no problem tossing the pigskin wherever the hell he damn well pleases... which is kind of exciting!!

Yup. He put the fear into defenses. We should trade Darnold and go with Hall.

Are there any former professional QBs out there bagging groceries, or running a custom marble and granite business, that can still play, and lead the 2024 Vikings to the Super Bowl ?

We already had that last year in the Dobbs, Mullens, and Hall. Darnold and Howell are close enough to that type.

marty -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (9/4/2024 5:22:06 AM)

I had a hard time deciding between Detroit and the Rams for the NFC, went with Detroit.

I think Darnold will play well enough to win the 1st game against the Giants, and then he will be knocked out for the season in the 2nd game vs. SF.

I think the Vikings will win 6 games.

I didn't go out on a limb with many teams, did it more conservatively than in the past. In the past, I predicted too many big surprises, I stayed closer to the over/unders this season.

marty -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (9/4/2024 5:24:48 AM)

One mistake, in the first round of the playoffs for the AFC, should be Houston over Cincy, not Cleveland.

Trekgeekscott -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (9/5/2024 1:19:31 PM)

OK. I've done my homework. Really studied and trying to make a very informed analysis.

And if you believe that... I have some oceanfront property in Kansas to sell you.

My predictions for 2024.

We'll start with the NFC.

NFC East.

Cowboys will have a good regular season but blow it early in the playoffs because Dak Prescott is like Kirk Cousins, eye popping numbers, folds in the bigger games.

Eagles Should be the team to beat in their own division. Defense should be good. Offense will go as far as Hurts takes them. Any 3rd or 4th and less than a yard they get a first down. They will win the division

Giants. LOL two years ago was a fluke. they let their best offensive weapon go and are now putting all their eggs in one basket named Daniel Jones. I can't emphasize just how incredibly stupid that is.

Redski....football te...Commanders - Starting a rookie QB is usually not tied to early success. They want to win but understand they are in transition. They stunk bad enough last year that they got the 2nd pick in this year's draft. So they will be better, a little, even finish above the Giants, but no real chance at playoffs.

NFC South

God this division is awful.

Falcons - Will come to love/hate Cousins very quickly especially when a late drive could win a game and he either throws short of the sticks on a needtogetthefirstdown play or just doesn't understand he has to spike the ball to stop the clock. But they do have some good skill players. So it could be fun.

Panthers - suckbomb will continue to suck. But Their young QB will take a step forward

Saints - Since Drew Brees retired, they've been irrelevent. I see no reason that changes now.

Buccaneers - It's their division to lose. and It's bad enough that they could find a way to lose it.

NFC West

Seahawks - new head coach. new schemes, still no offensive line. Geno Smith miracle luster has worn off. Not going anywhere.

Rams - Stafford is getting old and fragile. No Donald on defense. Going nowhere fast.

Cardinals - The very definition of suck.

49ers - possibly the best team in the NFC. Strong D and a LOT of playmakers on offense. good coaching staff. Really only injury can derail a deep playoff run here.

NFC North

Packers - giving up Aaron Jones was a mistake. He hid some weaknesses on Love's part. The magic of LeFleur is wearing off.

Lions - team to beat in this division. But it is the Lions. they should roll. but it is the Lions. Goff....can he do it again? Or will he revert to the Superbowl starting QB that the Rams couldn't wait to get rid of? Team should be really good. Good O, D, and coach. But, again, It's the Lions

Bears - Not going to be the laughingstock they've been over the past several seasons. Caleb looks legit. The new GM has built a good D and added a bunch of playmakers on offense to take the pressure off Williams to carry the team. Can Eberflus just not screw it up?

Vikings - Losing Cousins is probably a step down...counting on Darnold finally realizing his potential is risky to say the least. A LOT of new faces on D. DBs are questionable. Losing Hunter could hurt. but I just get the vibe that if Darnold stays healthy, and Greenard, Van Ginkel and Turner can pick up the slack lost when Hunter left....that we will be a lot better than most pundits are predicting.

So - Division winners

Lions, Eagles, 49ers and Bucs

Wild Cards. Cowboys, Packers, and VIKINGS

49ers get the 1 seed

First week playoffs
Vikings beat Eagles
Lions beat Packers
Bucs beat Cowboys (McCarthy fired immediately after the game)

Division round
Vikings stun 49ers in SF
Lions beat Bucs

Championship game
Vikes put the lions in their place

Superbowl baby!!!

Ricky J -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (9/5/2024 1:26:49 PM)

Nice!

Trekgeekscott -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (9/5/2024 1:33:40 PM)

Now the AFC

East

Bills - Find that losing Diggs is bigger for them than it was for the Vikings. Allen will get hurt again. Defense will flounder especially if they have to go to using Cine. Out of playoffs this year.

Dolphins - Tua shows he's worth a big contract. with all those WRs to throw to and a great HC they are going to make some serious noise.

Jets - This team should roll with the names...absent another early season injury...

Patriots - Have proven time and again since Brady left that they suck without Brady...in full on rebuild mode, they aren't even fooling themselves into thinking they can contend.

South

Colts - somehow they feel like the forgotten team here. With an unproven but talented QB and oft injured, oft complaining about his paycheck RB who can be pretty good. I just feel like this may be the team that surprises people this year.

Titans - Trusting a young QB too and with new coach etc. seems like a transition year to me.

Jaguars - Well they're paying that QB a shitload of money....they better be good.

Texans - Clearly the team to beat here. Good QB, energetic and smart coach. Class of the south

West

Chargers - New coach and gave up all their best playmakers except for Herbert on offense. I think they will be godawful

Raiders - Will be godawful again

Broncos - Depending on a Breesless Sean Payton is foolish. Nix will be nixnix. God Awful

Easiest division to predict....Chiefs, all the way

North.

Get ready for an absolute slugfest.

Steelers, Russell Wilson is cooked and they are starting him. Bad juju. They will suffer and finish last,

Ravens - If Jackson stays healthy. Look out.

Browns - feisty and tough...It will depend almost entirely on Deshaun Watson playing well.

Bengals - Burrow and Co will not go quietly into the night.

Divison Winners
Ravens, Chiefs, Texans, Dolphins

Wild Cards
Jets, Browns, Bengals

Ravens get first seed
Chiefs beat Browns
Jets beat Dolphins
Texans beat Bengals

Division round
Jets stun Ravens
Texans stun Chiefs

AFC Championship

Jets defeat Texans

Superbowl. Vikings stun Jets and I not only revel in the Vikings first SB victory...but that we beat Aaron Rodgers to do it.

kgdabom -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (9/5/2024 1:55:25 PM)

Giants 17 Vikings 27. Darnold 2 TD passes one Int about 270 yards, with 120 yards and one TD to Jefferson. Surprise player gets the other one. . Jones with a score on the ground. 2 Reichard FGs one short the other 50+.

Todd M -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (9/5/2024 5:09:41 PM)

We score 40+ in a route.

marty -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (9/8/2024 1:55:32 AM)

I think the Vikings will either route, or lose in a close game.

You have to be pretty proud on how close to accurate you are with your prediction here.

Darnold did throw 2 TDs
One was to Jefferson.
Surprise player is Nailor.
Jones did get one on the ground.

And your yardage and INT predictions were pretty close.

No fgs, but then we didn't stall out in the redzone...and Reichard made all the xps

Todd M -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (9/9/2024 9:17:19 AM)

I’d score it 5.2.

Brad H -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (9/11/2024 9:17:44 AM)

Kirk Cousins came out of week 1 with a 28.9 QB Rating

He had a very Kirk Cousinsy performance in crunch time.

If Kirk Cousins had that performance for ANY team, their fans would've been a mess.

marty -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (9/13/2024 5:30:02 PM)

So far, for the Super Bowl, we have the Chiefs over the Lions, and the Vikings over the Jets.

Anyone else have a prediction for who will win the Super Bowl, and who they will beat ?

Ricky J -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (9/13/2024 6:09:59 PM)

edit: Super Bowl 59: Panthers over the Raiders in OT 17-14
