That's where I'm coming from too, Chris.
(don't want to ... just sayin...)
Most of the Lions young guys aren't yet aware of what a dumbshit they have coaching them (Gym Shortz)
Give em a couple weeks, and they'll understand ...[:D]

I think Peyton will drop off in December as age starts catching up with him.

I think Luck and Ryan elevate their games further

Will Peyton drop off to 3 TDs per game?
no shit

Holy gotthatonewrong Batman!

I still think he will fade in December

28-10, I like that score Duane. I went with 30-27 Vikes.

Anybody else going to predict a score ?

How many return TDs will Patterson have ? Sherels ? Any defensive TDs ? Any for the Lions ? [sm=scared.gif] Will Ponder run any in ? Will he pass any to Jennings for a TD ? Patterson ? Simpson ? Webb ? How many TDs will AD score ? Megatron ? How many times will the Vikings' offense fumble ?

I predict Jamarcus Sanford will have 4 tackles, 2 solo.

1 W 3 losses by the bye at best. [sm=cry2.gif]

Looks like my 19 - 0 prediction isn't doing so well.

Obviously you just roll that down to 18-1 and carry on.

Thomas O. Eliason -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (9/8/2013 4:12:51 PM)

Nah, once I'm wrong I throw in the towel.

Seems to happen every darned year.

But when you're right, it's gonna be one helluva party.

marty -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (9/8/2013 8:16:56 PM)

Who would have thought Reggie Bush would give the Vikes trouble in game 1 ?

Yours truly:

I could easily see them starting out 0-2, so I agree with J that game 3 at home against Cleveland is probably the easiest win. I would be happy if they can just win ONE of the 1st 2 games. Anybody that assumes 2-0 doesn't realize how tough it is to win on the road in the NFL.

I think they have a decent shot of winning at Detroit thanks to the losing history, but Reggie Bush is the wildcard I fear can be the difference of winning or losing there. Hopefully the Vikes get Winfield back before this game, and hopefully he can help stop Bush. I think the Vikes have a shot at beating Chicago as teams with new coaches usually struggle early on. You might see a different Cutler this year, if he's found a good match at OC, and if the OL is improved. Hopefully that is NOT the case.

I should have just stuck with my original prediction, and NOT changed to the Lions winning the 1st game. I'm not sure where the unfounded optimism came from. Originally, I had the Vikes losing to Detroit, and going 9-7 for the season. While that could still happen, that's going to be very tough with this schedule, and with Ponder playing like he did in the 1st game. In going 9-7, I had the Vikes winning at Chicago next week, and that could be very tough. It could end up being a lopsided loss. Let's hope not. Hopefully the Bears will have some jitters yet with their new coach, and the Vikes can take advantage.

3-2 after 5

Pittsburgh is BRUTALLY bad

John Childress -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (9/8/2013 8:37:10 PM)

After 1 week

Vikings upcoming games that look easier than I thought:

Pittsburgh looks like a cooked team
Carolina has no weapons on offense
Baltimore

Games that may be harder

Green Bay - despite the loss, the GB defense was really hitting hard and shutting down the run
Detroit - no comment

Todd M -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (9/8/2013 11:26:59 PM)

IDK man, nothing appears easier after watching that game today.

The Lions, at best, are fringe playoff contenders trying to find themselves. They came out and shot themselves in the foot time and time again, lost the crowd and were basically laying down with the jugulars exposed. By the end we couldn't fight off being handled by them.

I'm glad they didn't give Frazier a big new contract. Both him and Ponder are going to be gone...shame they HAD to take another kick at the can rather than having the vision to see something to it's most likely conclusion.I.E., Ponder is going to be a failed experiment no matter what you surround him with.

Detroit - no comment

First game of the year.  Reggie Bush is fresh, not dinged up.  With both him and CJ and a QB like Stafford, who has a quick release, they can be a pretty good offensive team.

However, Bush tends to get dinged up.  and there is no way he should be carrying the rock as much as he did yesterday or he will be worn down by week 6.

We'll see where they are later this season.  I predict a fast start followed by another epic collapse.

J Jeffreys -> RE: Predictions for Next Week (and maybe beyond) (9/9/2013 1:07:59 PM)

I don't believe in must-win games until a loss means your season is over.  But losing to Chicago would put the Vikings in catch up mode for a long time with little chance of wining the division.

If Cincy had beaten the Bears, there's less pressure.  A win in Chicago gives the Vikings a leg up on a 1-1 divsion rival and assuming Detroit loses 1 of its next two which is highly likely, the Vikings are at worst a game behind the division lead.

Starting 0-2 against division teams is a very tough deficit to overcome, puts huge pressure on home wins and an absolute must win (yes, must win) in two of the six road games left on a schedule that includes games @ NYG, DAL, GB, SEA, BAL, CIN.  On this schedule, Detroit and Chicago away should be considered two of the Vikings best chances at road W's.

After watching parts of the Giants-Cowboys game last night, these are not necessarily good teams. The Giants couldn't hang onto the ball, while the Cowboys didn't seem to know what to do with it when they had it. The inflated final score and yardage stats may look impressive, but neither team really was.

Brand new almost everything for the Eagles but they had strong start last year too.  How'd that work out?

This reminds me of Pitino going to the Celtics and tryng to fast break and full court press for 48 minutes.  You can't keep up that pace.  And Chuck Bednarik ain't walkin through that door.

The good news is when the Vikings get them they will be spent, quivering puddles of sweat.  That sounded dirty.
