Gophers win by 1 point against Drake? At Home? Drake was an awesome program in the late 1960's. They faced UCLA in semifinals of the final four in 1969 and lost 85-82 to a Lew Alcindor team.

Now, not so good. But their head coach is a former assistant to Tim Miles.

USD played Drake on Dec. 6 in Vermillion winning 93 to 65.

Our head coach is a former Tim Miles' assistant.

Too bad USD doesn't play MN this year.

The USD game was their most inexplicable loss though. Their other losses were close ones to Colorado, Wyoming, Omaha (who they've also beat) and now Minnesota.

Missouri Valley is a usually a pretty good hoops conference. It's no Big 10 but they can't be taken lightly.

Had Wichita State and Creighton stayed in the Missouri Valley, it would be close to the Big 10.

TJSweens -> RE: RE:Gopher Basketball (Mens) (12/13/2017 10:40:17 AM)

I think that's a bit of an overstatement Miles.

Steve Lentz -> RE: RE:Gopher Basketball (Mens) (12/13/2017 2:07:24 PM)

Nobody wants to play Wichita State.
Creighton has beaten Nebraska 7 straight times.

GopherFan34 -> RE: RE:Gopher Basketball (Mens) (12/13/2017 5:51:04 PM)

You have to cut RP some slack here, he lost his best 6th/ starter Curry to an injury. He was their best defender and could hit the 15 ft jumper or step out for the 3. Tough lose. That being said, their perimeter defense has got to get better, or, they will be a middle of the pack team.

Typical Wisconsin bullshit last night
Wraps up their entire program in one little bow
Cheat to win, take it and then brag about it.
Cheap, bullshit way to compete and then call it "within the rules"
Only thing worse than that attitude is the chickens hit refereeing that made it work.
Shameful.

Might be the oldest basketball trick still around.

There are few things in life I hate more than UW athletics.

What did they do? All I heard was a cheap foul call.

Last second throw in from the baseline
Set a “screen” along the baseline and when the defender gets near you pull him in and act like a truck hit you
Refs suck it up like candy.
Wiscy shoots FTs and wins game
Pathetic. Like I said good refs woulda smiled at the kid and said “nice try”
B10s finest.
This conference has always had the most rabbit-eared bunch of sheep in the country refereeing their sports

Didn't hear that.
Horrible. Isn't supposed to be visiting conference refs?

SoMnFan -> RE: RE:Gopher Basketball (Mens) (12/21/2017 3:30:21 AM)

A little ESPN love ...

Best rebounder: Jordan Murphy, Minnesota Golden Gophers
Murphy is relentless, and it is impossible to keep relentless off the glass. But he is far more than relentless. Murphy has size, great hands and he has a hunger for the ball. Murphy leads the nation in rebounding at over 13 per game, and leads the nation in offensive rebounding at 5.33 per game. Murphy is the nation's best rebounder, and it is not a close call.

Bill Jandro -> RE: RE:Gopher Basketball (Mens) (12/30/2017 8:26:19 AM)

3 game home stand beginning today.

We should win all 3 easily.

Wow, just watched Purdue - Rutgers game on BTN.
Impressed with Purdue's team, especially their size.
20+ point win tonight.

Go Gophers!

SoMnFan -> RE: RE:Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/3/2018 9:15:28 PM)

13 point lead at half over the Illini

Coffey with 11-1-4

SoMnFan -> RE: RE:Gopher Basketball (Mens) (1/4/2018 8:27:34 AM)

Ten point win over the Illini
Murphy and Mason with 17 each

The flow of the game seemed better tonight.
Mason back was a big reason, as he controls
the tempo.....otherwise, the king of "free wheel"
too much...kinda out of control....Murphy is a
Horse....Lynch also....watched the Purdue game and
they have a very nice team....3-0 so far in B1G!

It was a tough win....Illini needed the win (0-2 in Big Ten). Need to build depth and stay healthy.
