Another disappointing season, no matter how it may be justified.

We're 8 games into a 34 game season and 4.5 games out of first (and 2 losses behind the last 'playoff team').

I think its a bit early to call it a disappointing season - especially considering Wiggins has played in 2 games, Brunson in 4, and Augustus in 0.

Terrible game last night. I could only handle the 1st half. No Whalen but they still should have been more competitive. I think Ind had 13 block shots. Ouch

I hope that you're right, David.

Whalen missed the game with the stomach flu and the offense couldn't get in sync at all.

I guess Augustus delivered an ass chewing to her teammates after the game. On a positive note she is supposed to return to action this week.

That is good news. After all the deals with Conn, I would hate them end up with a better record since we have their #1 next year

Hopefully now that everyone is getting healthy and in sync, we'll start seeing more games last night. (The double-digit win was nice, the 31% shooting, not so much...)

Whalen still isn't shooting well, but I'll take 10 points, 6 rebounds, 12 assists and only 1 turnover out of my PG every night.

I am waiting to see some more signs of life from the Lynx before I commit myself to actively following them this year.

Back to back wins shows a little bit of life. Hopefully with the return of all the injured players the Lynx can finally jell and go on a nice run.

Back to back wins vs. a last place team.  It's a baby step, at best.

It's not really about the wins. It's that the best players are now getting most of the minutes. Heck, only 3 players got significant bench minutes: Houston (20), Maiga-Ba (14), and Wright (8).

Well make that 3 in a row with a road win in NYC over the Liberty. That's the good news.

Just when things looked to be turning around, the bad news is that w/ 8 sec left in the game Candice Wiggins kind of crumpled to the floor like she tripped but stayed down. Had to be carried off the floor. She'll have an MRI upon return to the Twin Cities.

There are reports she has ruptured her Achilles and will be lost for the season

The bench is really going to have to step it up if this is true. Especially the rookie Wright.

Bad news in deed. Wiggins was the primary back up at PG. They can take up the slack as far as wing depth, but the loss of point depth is huge.

Ouch I just heard the news on Wiggins. Was she playing well this year? She fell apart last season after Augustus went down and we needed her more than ever. Nice to see the winning streak and the Lynx would be in the playoffs if the season ended today. Did they confirm that Wiggins is done?

IMO Wiggins didn't fall apart last yr as much as she was very inconsistant and playing with a bum knee.

This year, yes she was playing well. She wasn't 100% but was much more like the Wiggins of 2008. She is a HUGE loss. She's a very high IQ player and was very much a communicator. She was the high energy person for this team. The 1 player it seems the coach trusted who could give Whalen a break & keep things moving offensively. She was a 3pt threat shooting 45%. And as challenged as the team has been defensively, she was the best & most physical perimeter defender.

She really is 'all that'. (at least for me) This team is challenged when it comes to a player who could pump up the team & she was that on-court cheerleader. They are really going to miss that.

Yes. Season ticketholders got an e-mail :

Candice Wiggins Injury Update

Lynx guard Candice Wiggins will miss the remainder of the 2010 season after rupturing her Achilles tendon in her left leg in Tuesday night's contest vs. the New York Liberty. The injury occurred with 8.0 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. An MRI done yesterday confirmed the injury. Wiggins will have surgery tomorrow.

She had the surgery Friday and it appers it went well. No time table on her return yet. But for this injury if she stays on top of her rehab I'd think she'll be ready by the start of next season (basketball gods willing)

Hey everybody. Don't look now, but the Lynx with a massive two game winning streak have moved into second place in the mighty western conference. If the playoffs started now Lynx would have home court first round.

Let's hope that the Twins do as well after their All Star break.

Lynx leading the 17-2 Seattle Storm after three periods. Whalen dominating the third period. Brunson playing very strong and Augustus merely OK. The Storm are on an eight game winning streak. A win here would be beyond HUGE.

Lynx could not hold on for the win. Augustus only 4-17 and we almost beat the Storm.

terrible free throw shooting. As of now I am watching and we are up by one in the second overtime. So we actually lost already? It is not live?

It was a fun game to watch. Some amazing shooting going on. Neither team could miss for a while. Of course poor defense might have contributed to that.
